In 1922 the League of Nations had a "Mandate for Palestine". It declared that "the Land of Israel will be designated for the re-establishment of the Jewish national home." This gave Jews working on their return definite hope that they would soon have their much needed country once again.

True: Jordan gained a state on May 25, 1946 by insistance that they wanted their own state and got their independence from the League of Nations Mandate under the British administration, whose Transjordan mandate ended May 22, 1946. The Hashemites renamed it Jordan in 1950. Jordan had illegally occupied the areas of Judea and Samaria in 1948. They were internationally unrecognized. Jordan controlled the area without the right to do so. They attacked Israel at its birth of May 1948. They kept Israel out of Jerusalem.

True: The territories of Judea and Samaria are not occupied because Jordan did not have a recognized sovereignty there prior to 1967.

True: International law does bar an occupying state from settling civilians in areas that have been occupied . As you can see, this is not the case in Judea and Samaria. Therefore, Israel has every right to build and live in Judea and Samaria.

What Happened: Jordan occupied the area of Cisjordan (Judaea/Samaria) now typically referred to as "West Bank". That's another political move to erase the Jewish connection. It continued to control the area in accordance with the 1949 Armistice Agreements and a political union formed in December 1948. While recognizing Jordanian administration over the West Bank, the United States maintained the position that ultimate sovereignty was subject to future agreement. Israel was created on May 14, 1948. The 2nd Arab-Palestinian Conference held in Jericho on December 1, 1948, proclaimed Abdullah King of Palestine and called for a union of Arab Palestine with the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan. Jordan is a constitutional monarchy. His son, Hussein reigned from 1953-1999. Now his son, Abdullah II, is king.

Jordan withdrew its forces from their posts overlooking the Plain of Sharon. In return, Israel agreed to allow Jordanian forces to take over positions in the West Bank previously held by Iraqi forces.

In 1970 the Palestinians almost overthrew Jordan itself. They had some bloody battles. By 1994 Jordan signed a peace treaty with Israel.

As of July 2010 there are 6,267,285 people in Jordan of which 98% are Arabs with 92 % of the people being Sunni Muslims. Many of the people living there are refugees from Palestine and Iraq.

September 2nd Peace Negotiations

Right away I see difficulties in this process. I'm sure glad I'm not Netanyahu. Kol a Ka Vod to him if he can stick it out and listen to all this, plus withstand being pressured by all others attending to go along with Palestinian wishes. Here are a few of the main points I've found.

Israel's Expectations

1. First, we ask for recognition, which hasn't been given so far for the past 62 years. Hamas says no. The quartet will ask for it.

2. Security is a necessity. We ask that Palestine demilitarize. Also, we'd need to watch that the Judea Samaria are not getting weapons of destruction. We haven't been able to stop Gaza from getting weapons, though work on it.

3. Water issues to be worked on together

4. Returning Palestinians to settle in Palestine, not Israel.

5. Not dividing Jerusalem, our capitol

Palestinian Expectations

1. Pre-1967 borders for Israel -

2. Palestinians in other countries to return and settle in Israel.

3. Moratoriam on Israel building in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria.

4. Water Issues

5. Making Jerusalem their capitol. Keeping Israel from building there.

If the main points can be reached and peace is a given, then I don't see water issues as a big deal. By then there should be cooperation. I just don't see any cooperation or agreements with the other points. Hamas will not recognize Israel until the Messiah comes. I don't think he'll be attending this Sept. 2nd meeting. I don't see any Palestine being created until Hamas comes around and wants to live peacefully, even if the big Four attend this meeting.

Abbas, representing the Judea Samaria (West Bank) was most reluctant to attend this meeting. Netanyahu was ready. I think that's a bad start. I have a feeling this is a lesson in futility to satisfy the big four, but hope I'm wrong. Maybe over a cup of tea they can be civil with each other. They each have to answer to their own people, so it can't be a personal decision.

If by some strange quirk these two make peace and Fatah recognizes Israel and all is well in the world, what will they do when Hamas continues to attack Israel? What will they do when Iran and Syria bring on pressure to Israel? Will they be in a position to help their fellow Arabs?

There are many things to consider. By the way, the creation of Palestine will make it the 49th Muslim state in the world with 50% muslim population or more. Remember, 22 Arab states attacked Israel in 1948. They were the ones closest to Israel.

1:43pm: I just learned that 4 Israeli civilians, including a pregant woman, were killed in Kiryat Arba located in the West Bank (Abbas's Fatah area). Gunmen had shot at a car at short range. In defence of the act, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, Sami Abu Zuhri, congratulated the attackers saying it was a normal reaction to the crime of occupation. My husband did his student teaching in this city. At the time we were living in Haifa. Everything is so close by.

10:20pm: The names of the people slaughtered in their car were Talia and Yitzhak Irnes who had 6 children at home, and Kochava Even-Haim and Aveshai Shendler.

Sixty-Two Years of Waiting is Enough-Diy-ay-Nu

Palestinians are still harping on settlement stoppage of building in the Judea-Samaria (West Bank) area by Israelis. Netanyahu had given into the Palestinians a 10 month freeze in the name of peace, but their recognition of Israel didn't happen. Israel has been hoping for recognition for the past 62 years. Peace talks will not be indulged in by the Palestinians because of this. They're demanding another freeze, for forever, no doubt.

The Palestinians have been trying very hard to get Israel to weaken their safeguards. Israel has to continue watching what is coming and going into Gaza and keep restrictions there because of continuing rocket firing and a lack of a peace treaty. It's actually enemy territory.

When Israel was created in 1948, all the surrounding Arab countries attacked it, meaning to drive it into the sea. In other words, they tried to kill the baby just created. They have continued with these attacks even after 1985, and continued attacks coming from the Palestinians themselves to this day. I remember that after leaving Israel in 1985, it was under attack and everyone was given gas masks with directions on how to tape up a small area in their homes as a safe room from chemical warfare. I received e-mails from my neighbor in Safed about what went on. Places I was familiar with were hit by rockets. It was unreal.

We have two peace treaties only: Egypt and Jordan. We see Iran feeding the Palestinian terrorists with weapons through Syria. Lebanon is a huge threat. Israel has to be constantly on guard. If it lets down in any way, as it did in leaving Gaza in the name of peace, it will be attacked.

I know that many think that this is a continuing condition and there is no hope for peace. Warring is going to be the norm. I feel that if the world continues to back terrorism as it is doing right now, it will be. If the world wakes up and sees that Israel is the scapegoat and that the Arab world is acting like bullies, it could bring about pressure to cause terrorism to end. People in this part of the world have the ability to live in peace if they see that it is more advantageous to live a peaceful life.

Right now Ireland is forming another flotilla to enter Gaza. Is this helpful? What in the world are they backing? What are they against? This is an example of how warped the world has become in understanding what is right and what is wrong. It makes me shudder.

From what I've read from the Socialist party's diatribes against Israel, they think that Jews stole Arab land and so they plot against Israel. When are people going to understand and accept facts that we didn't and that we re-created Israel in the most legitimate ways; legally, rightfully, and that there were very few Arabs living in the area at the time of its birth. Jews never wanted to displace them and never did. It's quite a history, but who is actually finding out about it? From what I can see, people today get their information from word of mouth from Palestinians only.

Who Recognizes Israel?

Is it so shocking that Israel's Netanyahu is asking for recognition of Israel in order to have peace? Recognition means acceptance of the state in the neighborhood. It means that it will be respected and not shot at. It means it's a legitimate neighbor and all want peace. It would be in a state such as USA is with its neighbors of Canada and Mexico today. Israelis are tired of putting up with rocket firing morning, noon and night. You can't sign a peace treaty with people who are intending to do you in anyway. Palestinians have to say, "Okay! You're a legitimate state accepted by the U.N. in May of 1948. We concede to that. We'll quit trying to drive you all into the sea. "

Palestinians don't want to recognize Israel because they want the West Bank and East Jerusalem to have no building at all by Israelis there. They want it for themselves. Since Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel, Israel feels it is their city. Jerusalem is THE city as far as Judaism goes. It's in our history, our religion, and our soul. We don't mind having Arabs living in East Jerusalem. We have a million Arabs living in Israel. However, the state of Palestine wants their country to be free of all Jews. They want us out. We have fears that they will try to take over all of Jerusalem, also. After all we've been through, we're not about to let that happen. We remember how our cemeteries were desecrated by the Jordanians. People used them as latrines. King David and his son King Solomon would roll over in their graves if they thought we'd let Jerusalem be given away. Most of our give aways that were in the name of peace have just resulted in being used as landing places for our neighbors to attack us.

The West Bank in history was Judea and Samaria. It's also most important in Jewish history. Again, we don't mind and wouldn't kick out the Arabs living there, but we don't like the idea of uprooting all the Jewish people that live there, either.

The Palestinians are always demanding that we give up land. We had a sufficient chunk of land promised to us in the first place, but had to settle for only a small part of it at the formation of Israel and that was okay with us. Something was better than nothing. Ever since then the Arabs have been chipping away pieces of it. We gained land after the 1967 battle of many Arab countries attacking us. Maybe it was a miracle that we won the war, but we won, and gained back Jerusalem from Jordan. Now, we're not about to let it go just because they're demanding.

They're calling out that building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem is illegal by the international community. Well, the international community is not supportive of Israel in any way shape or form, anyway. I feel they're still harboring anti-semitic feelings and have always been against the Jewish people. They certainly haven't condemned Palestinians for attacking Israel civilians with rockets, have they.

The whole affair is so one sided that it makes me dizzy. No wonder a Rabbi in Israel blew up cursing the Palestinian terrorists who are so against Israel. I would have said, may you all lose all your teeth except one, and in that one tooth get a giant toothache. I think that's the curse my grandmother used to use on people she was exasperated with.

Virus of Anti-Semitism Now Hitting "Doctors Without Borders"

Israeli doctors did a mitzva in flying to the Congo to treat 50 local villagers who had been severely burned. They worked hard, nonstop treating these burn victims. They even trained doctors to perform skin grafts. If that wasn't enough, they donated tons of medical equipment before they left.

The Doctors Without Borders refused to work with the Israeli and para medics. One Israeli medic said they treated them as though they were occupiers. That was because Dr. Marie Pierre Allie, President of the French branch of the organization, said that Israel's self defense actions in Gaza were worse than the Darfur genocide in the Sudan.

What a horrible accusation! To my knowledge, none of these doctors without borders were ever witnesses in Gaza. They are going on heresay, slander, which is anti-semitism.

There you are. We have Israeli doctors saving lives and doing their best and they are being discriminated against by their peers because of what we call loshun hora-gossip-maligning gossip plus anti-semitism, and maybe just a pinch of jealousy thrown in for good measure. I mean, how many of the ten commandments are these doctors breaking already?

As George commented, These doctors are singling out one Jewish democratic state with terrible accusations yet they're not bothered by anything done by the Islamic states, of which I have counted 46 which have a majority of Muslims in their population. There's all sorts of problems with how they treat their citizens and others, yet no one says a word.

Israel just invented and introduced to the world a sniffing tester to find cancer. Here we are sharing these wonderful medical inventions, of which this is but one, and we are treated in this way. 2,000 years of being treated like pariah is getting old. 6 years of being shelled by rockets and mortars before reacting to me shows an awful lot of restraint and thought, but in the end a desire to live.

We're less than 1% of the human population. We thought the world was improving and growing up, but perhaps not.

Israel’s Darfur Refugees
Israeli soldier with Darfur refugees (Courtesy of IsraAid)Israel has granted asylum to hundreds of refugees from Sudan’s Darfur region.[8] According to the UN, more than 400,000 people have been killed in the six-year-old Darfur conflict, and more than two million more have been displaced.[9] The conflict has been marked by widespread atrocities such as mass rape, military attacks on civilians and ethnic cleansing.[10]
In September 2007, the Israeli government granted asylum to 498 Darfur refugees.[11] The following month, the government gave 51 of them new homes at kibbutzes – collective living communities unique to Israel – where they now live and work.[12] On Oct. 17, 2007, then-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced that 300 of the Darfur refugees were successfully settled in homes in the southern Negev region.[13] Israel’s foreign ministry announced in September 2007 that it would donate $5 million to victims of genocide in Darfur -- $4 million via international aid organizations and $1 million through the purchase and donation of medicine and water desalination equipment. [14] There also has been significant grassroots, social activism by Israeli civil society organizations on behalf of Darfur refugees. The Committee for Advancement of Refugees from Darfur (CARD) coordinates and oversees all of Israel’s media efforts and political advocacy aimed at bringing greater public awareness to the Sudanese refugee problem in Israel.[15] Similarly, the Hotline for Migrant Workers, a non-governmental organization, has undertaken legal action for the refugees. The Hotline’s volunteers visit detention centers, take testimonies and provide clothes and phone cards.[16] Among other NGOs assisting Darfurian refugees are the World Union of Jewish Students Institute (WUJS) in Arad, the Jewish Agency for Israel[17] and a number of kibbutzes such as Kibbutz Eilot in southern Israel.[18]

Voice of America recently profiled a 25-year-old Israeli man, Yotam Sheffy, who has dedicated himself to helping provide Israel’s Darfurian refugees access to food, medical care and schooling. Sheffy, whose grandparents are Holocaust survivors, said, “There's no difference. And if the doors weren't open there for my grandmother by simple village Christians, not me nor my father would be alive."[19]

Peace Talks to Commense between Israel and Palestinians

REALLY?

On August 11th the Oregonian had an article about Israel and Palestinians Peace Talks by Matthew Lee in Washington and Fisnik Abrashi of Sofia, Bulgaria. It was telling how the peace talks were not going to happen. I noted that some adjectives were used that surprised me, such as the "hawkish" Netanyahu when mentioning his name, and the "ceremonial" president Shimon Peres. Such adjectives were not used on other people. Are we just more colorful and need more adjectives to describe us?

Today's article in the Oregonian by Paul Richter out of Washington's McClatchy-Tribune was more factual and longer. The headline, "Israelis, Palestinians expected to resume direct peace talks", did surprise me in that it did not explain the turn around. We know that the Palestinians want pre-conditions and Israel does not. Netanyahu feels that that is what talks are about, to discuss issues, and then after discussion to decide and come to agreements or not. Netanyahu is anxious to start the talks and said to "get on with it." I only get out of this article that Obama is happy the peace talks are resuming. It says that if the talks get stuck, Obama will put forward his own proposals and USA will not be passive bystanders. To me that implies pressure. It's nice to try to bring about peace but I'm not looking forward to anyone pressuring Netanyahu into an intolerable position, and that's the way it is looking to me.

Mitchell and Clinton Nudging Netanyahu With a Stick

Here's the situation. We have Israel surrounded by Muslim states that are out to destroy it. I say that because after 62 years of existence, there have been many wars against it from these neighbors. Hamas terrorists in Gaza rule the area and their charter says to destroy Israel. They are still shooting rockets at Israel. Despite this, USA is pressing Israel to give up land again to create a Palestine on its doorstep.

First it was Mitchell meeting with Netanyahu followed up with THE phone call from Hillary Clinton. Abbas has said that he would finally talk to Netanyahu provided:

provided that they were based on a statement from March 19th by the Quartet of mediators: USA, European Union, Russia and the UN. Out of this quartet, I do not see one group that is pro-Israel in any way. The USA used to be, but the new direction it has taken is more likely to be against us.

The Quartet wants Israel to halt settlement building in Judea/Samaria and come to a full peace agreement with the Palestinians within 24 months. They also want Palestine to be created with borders before the 1967 Middle East war. I just read that Russia is supplying Iran with uranium to start up their program, and Iran is a country who has called for Isael's destruction. I can see how Russia will vote concerning anything about Israel.

Obama wants the talks to go back two years where they had broken off when Israel conducted Operation Cast Lead when rockets were being fired from Gaza by Hamas terrorists for 6 long years. Incidently, rockets are still being shot from there. From January to July of this year, 120 rockets have been fired at Israel.

Clinton conferred before the telephone conversation with the foreign ministers of Jordan and Egypt. They are former countries that have fought against Israel but right now are at peace. I have a feeling that they will go along with Syria and Iran's feeling about having Israel in their midst. It is Syria and Iran who are backing so much of the terror coming from Gaza.

Abbas has no power over Gaza. They are completely in the hands of the Hamas terrorists.

Netanyahu wants the talks to start immediately without any such "precondition". I go along with him. Talks are to talk about things. You don't settle something before the talks. That's what the talks are for. There are a lot of things to talk about, here. The people with the most at stake are the Palestinians who think they want a state so badly. Yet they're playing the "I won't talk to you until I get my own way " game. Hillary endorses this stand, evidently as she is nudging for it.

All of Mitchell's mediations have made little progress that can be seen. I don't know what he thinks he can do when Hamas, not under Abbas's authority, refuses permanent accommodations with our Jewish state. In fact, their charter says they will destroy Israel. I haven't heard of him trying to change their minds on this as a prerequisite for peace, which in my opinion, should have been done a long time ago.

If I were Netanyahu, and thank Ha Shem that I'm not, I would say, when Hamas changes their charter to accept Israel and welcomes Israel and breaks bread with salt with them, then I'd consider talking to Abbas or whoever it would be by then. Otherwise I wouldn't bother wasting my breath talking to them or stressing about it. They're being pig-headed (pardon the expression) , and one can't reason or discuss a thing when they are at this level of reasoning.

Update: 8/15/10 Hamas refuses to talk. Read reference below. Just as I figured. It'll take miracle to get Hamas to consider peaceful conditions.

Israeli Border Police Again Destroy Homes and Synagogue in Unauthorized Area

In 1929 the Jews of Hebron were masssacred by Muslims. Hebron's history goes back to the bible and is very important to us. It lies south of Jerusalem in the Judean hills and is part of Judea of the Judea/Samaria area so-called "West Bank". This is where Abraham and Sarah and their family are buried. Jews continued to live there. In 1968 Kiryat Arba was founded east of Hebron. They built on an abandoned military base in 1970 and by 1971 were able to move in. 7,000 people lived there by 2006 with about 2,700 Israelis living around the area. This building is in the Judean mountains of Judea/Samaria or so called West Bank area. I remember my husband doing his student teaching in a high school in Kiryat Arba. It was not far from Haifa, where we were attending school. Of course, nothing is far from any place in Israel.

Mitzpe Arihai is a town that some of the 2,700 live in outside of Kiryat Arba. It is considered by Israel as an unauthorized outpost, probably due to all the politicizing with the USA about a "two state solution" with the West Bank being the future home of Palestine. Netanyahu has been trying to negotiate with both Abbas and Obama.

Israeli police have destroyed this town in the last year and a half six times already and these zealots just keep building it again. This time Border Police not only destroyed the homes there but also the synagogue. They raided the area at 2:30am. It's a little too reminiscent of pogroms on Jewish villages in Russia.

It is hard to believe that our own police would treat our own Israelis in such a cruel manner, but I guess that they mean to treat both Arabs and Jews equally in matters of the law. There has been a lot of illegal building done by Arabs in Jerusalem, also. I presume they will or have also received such treatment.

No doubt these determined religious people will build immediately again. They are just trying to live where Jews have always lived before in our history. I believe that under Sharon they would have received their building permits, but this is today.

In 1974 the PLO had its 12th National Convention. They adopted "The Strategy of Stages."

They wanted to give the Western world the impression that they were moderate. Up to now they had turned down opportunitites to create their own state, but this time they would "agree to set up a Palestinian Arab state in any West Bank and Gaza territory vacated by Israel." Yet they would not recognize Israel in doing so. This would be their first stage of the great plan.

Stage II would include resuming fighting from their closer base which would make it possible for the Arabs to destroy Israel. (They have been doing this by attacking southern Israel with rockets and mortars for the past 6 years. In the last 3 days Israel has been attacked from Lebanon and in Eilat, which has also hit Jordan).

Stage III will be for them to take all of what they call Palestine, which would be the total destruction of Israel. This will be the outcome of the "Two State Solution." The Palestinian Arabs therefore have no intention of there ever being two states: Israel and Palestine, only Palestine.

Today: Attack on Lebanese Border

There is a security fence along the Israel/Lebanese border. Exactly how the international border runs is not plainly known, as it runs along both sides of the fence in different places. Evidently, according to Lebanon, some IDF soldiers wanted to cut a tree down inside the fence and were told not to by the Lebanese soldiers. According to Israeli reports, the IDF was just doing maintenance work along the fence. Fighting ensued with 3 Lebanese soldiers and a Lebanese journalist being killed. An Israeli soldier, Lt. Col Dov Harari age 45, was killed. Capt. Ezra Lakia of the IDF was critically wounded.

The Israeli residents nearby had heard explosions and it was reported that a Katusha rocket exploded there in the Upper Galilee, but later was not found.

There are12,000 U.N. Peacekeeping forces there, UNIFIL. All they did was to issue a statement telling both sides to stop. Israel does its own patrolling of the border for protection.

This became very serious, the most that has happened in the vicinity since 2006. Israel complained saying they are following the U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701.

8/4/2010 Update from Jewish Federation:-Notice: Differing from newspaper reporting-

Lebanese soldiers opened fire across the border at Israeli troops around midday yesterday. A senior IDF officer, Lieutenant Colonel Dov Harari, 45, was killed in the skirmish, as were three Lebanese soldiers and one Lebanese journalist. There were also a number of injuries on both sides.

The internationally accepted border between Israel and Lebanon is known as the "blue line." Israel's border fence is a few yards back from that line. Yesterday, Israeli troops were conducting routine work on the area between the fence and the blue line. They do so by using a "cherry picker" vehicle that stands on one side of the fence and leans over the fence in to the second side. (A photo can be seen here.) All work was carried out well before the blue line -- in other words, 100% on Israel's side of the border. An aerial photo of the area, showing the location of the incident, can be seen here. As is customary when such work is carried out, Israel first notified the local UNIFIL commander. In an interview on Wednesday morning (Aug. 4) with Israeli Army Radio, Hungarian diplomat Milos Strugar, who is serving as the political advisor to the UNIFIL commander, explained that the work carried out by the IDF along the border with Lebanon yesterday took place within Israeli territory and was coordinated ahead of time with the Lebanese army. “I can confirm that the IDF had coordinated the pruning work along the border with the Lebanese Army through UNIFIL. The IDF informed UNIFIL that it would be pruning a tree on the northern side of the border fence, but south of the international border line.” Strugar added that the situation immediately intensified, as the Lebanese Army was also in the area. “Our people who were there tried to pacify the situation and to enable the IDF’s work.”
“In the morning, the IDF informed us of their work and we passed that on to the Lebanese Army. Our investigation into this subject is not completed, and I am awaiting the final report,” Strugar added. Background on UN Security Council Resolution 1701 that governs these matters can be seen here. Speculation still abounds that this incident was an intentional Lebanese attack aimed at deflecting Lebanese public attention from a UN report on the assassination of former President Rafik Hariri, which was threatening to cause major civilian unrest in the country in the coming days. The presence of journalists among the Lebanese troops strengthens this claim. According to the IDF, journalists and photographers were briefed in advance of the intention to ambush IDF troops and were therefore present at the site of the clash between Israeli and Lebanese forces. The killed correspondent, Assaf Abu Rahal, worked for Hezbollah-affiliated Beirut daily al-Akhbar.
IDF GOC of the Northern Command, Maj. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot called the attack an "initiated and provocative action by the Lebanese army, without any provocation from our territory. Full responsibility lies on the Lebanese army." Raw video footage by Reuters can be seen here.

Lt.- Col. (res.) Dov Harari, 45, who was killed in the clash, was laid to rest in his home town of Netanya today. It was to have been the last miluim (reserve stint) after 27 years of service for Harari, and the reserve battalion commander was expecting to be sent home soon to spend the rest of the summer vacation with his wife and four children. Harari worked in the family business, selling building material. According to family and friends, though, there was nothing he loved more than the army, and he never shied away from a reserve call-up. Last night, the White House conveyed U.S. President Barack Obama's personal condolences to his family, an Israeli Defense Ministry representative delivered President Obama's condolences to the Harari family this morning.

An immediate letter of complaint was sent by Israel to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. The text of the letter can be seen here.

There have been no further incidents on or near the border since yesterday's conflict.

The question remains as to how the Lebanese journalists and photographers knew in advance of the Israeli soldiers being in the area and what they were there to do. The UN and Lebanon had previously been notified of their work they were coming to do and it was okayed. Now it's known that the journalists had connections to Hezbollah, a terror group. Eilat and Jordan Hit by Long-Range Rockets

This morning both Eilat and Jordan were hit by long-range rockets and mortars. Eilat, the southern-most city in Israel with a population of about 65,000 is a popular holiday resort for tourists and Israelis. It is at the northern tip of the Red Sea. It lies next to Jordan.

The attack came from the Sinai peninsular in Egypt. I've been expecting something from Lebanon, but not from there. I hope Israel was more aware than I.

Five Grad rockets hit Jordan's resort, Aqaba, injuring four Jordanians. One exploded in front of the Intercontinental Hotel. Two cars were wrecked.

In Eilat, a rocket hit a taxi outside a hotel. It burst into flames. Two rockets exploded north of the city near the border with Jordan. Two more landed in the sea in Jordan waters.

The two cities had been hit on April 22 when two Katyusha rockets from Sinai exploded in Aqaba. There were no casualties then, either. In 2005 and 2007 both Al-Qaeda and Hamas were involved in attacks in Aqaba port. Then they killed a Jordanian soldier. A suicide bomber had attacked a bakery in Eilat and killed three bystanders.

It looks to me like Jordan would benefit if these terrorists could be stopped. They're also in the line of fire.

Retaliation Attack For Hitting Ashkelon

400 rockets and mortars, supposedly shot by small militant groups that Hamas has no control of have been shot at Israel since Operation Cast Lead 19 months ago. A big one hit Ashkelon causing a retaliation by Israel on Gaza.

Israel killed an important Hamas commander, Issa Batrun, age 42. He was a senior rocket maker. 11 were injured in the attack, 8 Hamas members and 3 civilians.

This may stir up the hornet's nest now. Hamas is already threatening Israel for the attack. My advice is that they shouldn't have allowed other militant groups free reign to attack Israel. Also, they're arming the smaller militant groups, so, in other words, they're one and the same group. They're all out to attack Israel.

Before this happened, members of Bracha and members of Iraq Buren threw stones at each other on Friday. This was in Judea/Samaria or the West Bank. It was the Palestinians from Iraq Buren that started it first. Why is the unknown factor. Friday is the Sabbath for Arabs. I'm surprised they engaged in this act. On this day most all Jewish women are busy preparing for the sabbath that commences on Friday night. Who has time for such devilment? Well, they found about 30 Palestinians who were involved.

What had happened on Friday? The UN let known its ruling that Israel had to end the Gaza blockade and needed to allow a fact finding committee on their raid on the flotilla. Isn't that just like them? And they wonder why it's hard to speak with Israelis. I can't believe this U.N.

The Arab League's Political Sin

Hamas is so angry with the Arab League which met in Cairo for giving Abbas the green light to engage in peace talks with Israel that today they fired a Grad rocket into Ashkelon, Portland, Oregon's sister city, which sits 7 miles from Gaza and contains 125,000 people. It crashed into a residential area and hit cars and an apartment complex. Several people are suffering from shock and had to be treated.

Last week they shot 4 Quassam rockets and 2 mortar shells into the Negev.

Hamas said it was their political sin to pass this decision. The Aza Din al-Kassem Gazan Terror Group claim responsibility.

Another Ship Attempts to Break Blockade of Gaza

An initiative is under way to add an American ship to the effort to break the IDF blockade of Gaza.The vessel, to be named The Audacity of Hope after US President Barack Obama’s best-selling book, is being organized by an American group called “US Boat to Gaza.” It is expected to sail in the fall.The links to Obama do not end there. Prof. Rashid Khalidi, director of the Middle East Institute at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a friend from Obama’s time in Chicago, is among the supporters of an appeal launched by the group last week.

This news was also shown on Fox News today. I wonder if it made other news stations. People are always pooh-poohing Fox News, but then I never see news about Israel on other stations unless a huge crisis is happening. Thank goodness for websites that confirm what I see on Fox News.

I think this is the height of chutzpa. Khalidi is a Palestinian and friend of Obama. I wonder what will happen now if Israel has to intervene once again and board this ship.

Palestine: Too Big A Risk
Commenting on Mort Zuckerman's viewpoint of a two state solution

Israel is being asked to take such a huge risk in advancing the idea of a two-state solution. Creating an Arab Palestine right alongside of Israel is an act of suicide.

First off, there is no unification of the two aspects of Palestinians. They are of opposing views and power, with Abbas in the West Bank subject to the force of Hamas's Gazan terrorism. There is no organization that can stop this terrorism except Israel itself.

The area is too small. It's like moving in a nestful of hornets under your bedroom window and expecting them to stay in place. Sooner or later they'll find the hole and crawl through like they did at my mother's home.

You just cannot rely on U.N. peacekeeping forces. They turn tail at every little provocation. They've done it every time so far.

What makes me so angry is that when Israel left the Gaza in 2005 Bush wrote a commitment that the US would recognize Israel's right to secure, recognized and defensible borders. Obama reiterated this pledge when campaigning but since then has disavowed it. Clinton has said that the pledge didn't become part of the official position. Obama and Clinton ignores the fact that this was in the 242 Resolution and Bush unequivocally provided guarantees to Sharon if we withdrew from Gaza. How soon they forget or ignore! The Bush letter has approved by both houses of Congress but our present administration repudiates it. This reminds me of the days of Indian treaties that were broken by our government. So Israel has lost its trust of our government. At least I have in regards to Israel's well being.

I've read in other sources that there are many Arabs living in East Jerusalem that are very happy being Israeli citizens. They wouldn't have it any other way. Perhaps that has to be the solution to this mess for the disgruntled Arabs there. Somehow the West Bank Arabs must come under the jurisdiction of Israel and become good citizens as these others are. They have more freedoms and know they are better off. Someday down the pike, things like their own state could be considered if they find it's so necessary. However, first and foremost, Israel's security has to come first. We can't allow another area to be in terrorist hands that can destroy Israel.

UN coming Down on Israel But Not North Korea

Israel had to board 6 foreign ships coming into Gaza which might all have been carrying weapons for the Gazan Arabs who have been firing missiles at Israel for the past six years plus. The last ship, the biggest, attacked the Israeli sailors who in turn when defending themselves happened to kill about 11 of these terrorists. It was done in self-defense. It was noted on videos.

Israel held their own inquiry, not trusting the U.N. to do so fairly due to the last Goldman report on the Gazan : Operation Cast Lead when Israel after taking 6 years of constant attacks turned around and went into Gaza militarily but was reprehended by this South African Jewish judge from the United Nations.

The United Nations, however, is continuing to hold another inquiry with prosecutor De Silva speaking for them. I have a very strong feeling that it will not be fair or honest. The United Nations is top-heavy with Arabs.

I note that North Korea recently sunk a South Korean ship. This act killed 46 sailors. The United States is having a four-day drill starting on Sunday, and this is Friday. We have been threatened by North Korea. All that I see done to North Korea are sanctions. Are there any UN investigations on them?

Israel's Partner, Chairman Abbas

Do I see any chance of peace with this partner? President Mahmoud Abbas became the head of Fatah because he was an underling of Yasser Arafat. He was formerly known as Abu Mazen. People think of him today as a moderate because he has broken away from Hamas, who is still fighting against Israel. Being Arafat's first deputy, he was an engineer of Palestinian hate eduction, still being used by terrorists.

He has a Ph.D from Moscow University. That's Russia, not Idaho His thesis was Holocaust Denial. He was trained by the KGB and managed the logistics of the Munich Massacre in 1972 of the 11 Israeli athletes. No wonder he praised the organizer of that slaughter yesterday when he passed away. (See yesterday's blog article).

As a clever man, he planned PLO ties with communists until 1989 against interests of all; Israel, America and even Arab interests. Up to 1993 he worked with Hamas.

In the 70's and 80's he tried to topple the Christian regime in Beirut resulting in the 1976 invasion of Lebanon by Syria and civil war. 200,000 died and hundreds of thousands became refugees from this. The PLO murdered 300 US Marines in 1983 on the US Embassy and Marine Headquarters in Beirut.

Jordan had a war with Palestinians who just about took over their state. King Hussein had to deal with their "Black September Movement when they tried to usurp his government. Nevertheless, he has married a Palestinian lady whose parents were immigrants to the states.

Yesterday Abbas stated to the other Arab states that if they fight Israel, he is in favor. He said that the Palestinians cannot fight Israel alone. He doesn't want the "West Bank"-which is Judea and Samaria-to be destroyed again. Was he trying to instigate them? Here Netanyahu is speaking with Obama and he's challenging other Arabs to attack Israel.

Funny, but all the Arab states tried this back in 1948 for starters and failed. Then the Palestininas, much fewer in number at that time, hoped for the same reward. They were told that the Arab armies would take over Israel and then they could take over their homes. Looks like to me that they're hoping for a repeat performance with a different ending. So what about having some peace, Abbas? How good is your word? Possibly this man is the only choice we get. I don't see him as having any feeling for Jews, in fact of all Arabs he would seem to have the least respect. To me it's so irrational to have such a thesis and believe in it with all the facts out in the open proving the opposite, and to have been done in Russia of all places. If he behaves sincerely about peace, I would think that he's just a very good actor. Time will prove his intentions, as his resume shows otherwise. Yesterday's actions were not headed in the right direction.

As Dr. Daniel Pipes said in his article, When will we stop deluding ourselves that Abbas and the PA seek anything less than the total elimination of the Jewish state? What disaster must occur before we open our eyes to reality?

Fatah Palestinian Honors Killers of Israelis

King David's old empire of bible days has been reinstituted in a tiny section of it known as the state of Israel. After 2,000 years of patience, hard work and near extinction, Israel was born in 1948 as the world's only Jewish state. By September 5, 1972, Israelis attended and participated in the Munich Olympics, a sport event taken from the Greek Olympics. However, because our state and athletes were Jews, a Palestinian terror organization, Black September, kidnapped and murdered 11 of the athletes and coaches. Oudeh, or Abu Daoud, planned the attack and was never remorseful for it. He just died before his 70th birthday.

Chairman Mahmoud Abbas of the Fatah group honors and glorifies this Daoud as a Palestinian hero and role model. This is not the first terrorist who has killed Israeli citizens who has been honored by Fatah. Abbas has expressed pride in training Hezbollah terrorists, sent greeting to Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons and funded a computer center named after Dalal Mughrabi where 37 Israeli civilians were killed.

Fatah honors killers of Israelis and yet expects to be Israel's neighbor. What sort of neighborliness can I expect to see from this close association? This is who Obama is pushing at Israel. Netanyahu is expected to negotiate with this person.

Israel just altered the Gazan blockade allowing in just about everything except articles that can be used against Israel, yet Hamas makes no bones about wanting Israel wiped off the map which has been their stand from the get go, before Israel had to create a blockade. Israel is always the one to give without receiving any promises in return, or promises that are valid, anyway.

Has there been a turnaround preparing Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria to be good neighbors to Israel? Has there been any type of programs of inducing people to get along, or any change in their educational program such as books to show something other than hatred which they now have? Abbas, as a role model, is showing the very opposite in glorifying these killers. That wouldn't get him an invite to my house.
Comment: 6pm Tuesday evening: Netanyahu even commented to Obama today that a political settlement of peace, coupled with security and prosperity "requires that the Palestinian Authority prepare its people for peace--school, textbooks, and so on."
Speaking about Christian evangelicals helping Jews with their grapes in Samaria, Palestinians got into a fight with them and said this about it, "“These people are filled with ideas that this is the Promised Land and their duty is to help the Jews,” said Izdat Said Qadoos of the neighboring Palestinian village. “It is not the Promised Land. It is our land.” There is much history to explain to these Palestinians.

Talks Between Mahmud Abbas of Fatah and Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel

I see that Netanyahu wants direct talks with Abbas and is going to Washington to talk to Obama once again. Abbas now wants to talk about the borders and security. That's a new pitch. What I understand that Fatah wants is all of Jerusalem, so I suppose that his idea of a border will encompass our capital and all of Judea and Samaria. Information is that they want their side to be free of all Jews. This is going to be some very interesting but short talk. The last thing I want to see is Israel losing Jerusalem or any of the Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria. We have over one million Arab citizens in Israel. I think Abbas can live with our Jewish population if he tries hard enough.



Fatah wants everything right now. They're been fighting against Israel for 62 years but now they have decided they want a state and want it right now and they want what they want or else. So far they haven't comprimised on anything so what is in the works now?

Besides that, what are they going to do about Hamas? Hamas wants Israel gone, period. Are they suddenly going to take leadership from Abbas? Are we just to deal with Fatah?

To show faith in what kind of neighbors Hamas and Fatah will be, this is the type of hype they are now spreading. "Mufti of Palestinian Authority, Muhammad Hussein: "The Al-Aqsa Mosque is threatened by the plans of the enemies of Allah (the Jews), who have violated all faith and religious laws and even deviated from their humanity." The Muslims have created libels of all sorts about this Mosque with the latest picture of a Jewish man eating the mosque. The site that includes the mosque (along with the Dome of the Rock) is also referred to as al-Haram ash-Sharif or "Sacred Noble Sanctuary", a site also known as the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, the place where the First and Second Temples are generally accepted to have stood. Widely considered as the third holiest site in Islam, Muslims believe that Muhammad was transported from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to al-Aqsa during the Night Journey on a white horse.

Before any agreements should be made by Israel, they should get the Palestinians to agree to stop feeding their people lies about Jews and about Israel's history. I spoke with a friend who found out that the Arabs have no idea of the history of the Jews with Jerusalem. They are almost in shock when they find out. No peace will come about when one side is spoon-fed such continuing lies.

I also have a plan. I think that we should make a trade with Iraq. In Iraq are the Kurds who really deserve to have their own state. They also are the closest to Jews through dna of any other peoples. "Shortly before war ended in 1988, the Iraqi Kurdish village of Halabja was exposed to multiple chemical agents, killing about 5,000 of the town's 50,000 residents . After the incident, traces of mustard gas and the nerve agents sarin, tabun and VX were discovered." They still live in want and are treated as less than 3rd class citizens. The Kurds could be Israel's neighbors and let the Hamas and Fatah people go live where they have been in Iraq. Then they can be altogether again. Let Iraq deal with them. There have been large shifts of populations before. I think this would be a very intelligent one.

Judea and Samaria Under Attack by NY Times Comumnist

A disliked term for ancient Judea and Samaria, taken to erase the memory of who it belonged to, is West Bank, used by most Americans. Nicholas Kristof just wrote a scathing article about the area that needs an intervention of understanding history.

First, he calls Israel's living in much of the area, "occupation," which is inaccurate and distasteful. Israel took control in 1967 in a war of self-defense. Arabs continued to reject peace offers. The future of this area is still under negotiations and Israel has a claim to the territory as valid as that of the Palestinians, maybe better.

This is a territory in dispute, not an occupied territory. Under international law, true occupation happens when land has been taken from a recognized sovereign. The last one to fit that bill was the Ottoman Empire, not these Palestinians. Jordan and Egypt control was never recognized by the international community. There never has been a sovereign state of Palestine anywhere.

His sarcastic comments belie facts of history. Israel bought land, they didn't steal it. Israel was created by the United Nations, so it's real. Nobody gave Israel a rose garden for starters. They had to fight mosquitoes and swamps to make a state. What are the Palestinians doing?

Ummm… does he realize that this is how most Bedouin’s CHOOSE to live? In most cases, they do NOT own the land on which they place their “ramshackle tents and huts”. They are squatters! (referring to Kristof's first example).

Obama is meeting with Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah and they're planning on creating Palestine.

"President Barack Obama says he and King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia agreed Tuesday on the need to press for Middle East peace in a "significant and bold way," including the creation of a Palestinian homeland". This is from yahoo news. Oh, I'm sure that Abdullah is so unbiased!

Jerusalem doesn't see it happening. Her Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman sees no Palestinian state being created by 2012. He also stated that we can dream, express interest, but in reality we are still far from reaching understandings and agreements on establishing an independent state by then. He was talking to a member of the quartet, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Later Lavrov flew to Cairo to talk with President Hosni Mubarak and their Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Palestinians and Israelis started talking again in May after not speaking after 17 months. Abbas expects Israel to offer more than they have to make it worthwhile to move to direct talks.

Lieberman of Israel and Lavrov of Russia have very different ositions about Hamas, the ruling terrorist group in Gaza. Russia has contacts with them while the rest of the world see them as terrorists and boycott them.

I ask Solomon, "How can you have an agreement with people who have sworn in their charter to end your life and who have no intention of being peaceful? How can the USA who had been a friend of Israel now switch over to being buddies with one of the countries on Hamas's side and also swear to bring about the creation of a state already stating to be beligerant?

Iran and Lebanon Testing the Waters With Another Flotilla

Iran has not stopped trying to destroy Israel. It's latest maneuver is to join Lebanon's "irresponsible" flotilla to break the blockade of Gaza.

Iran arms, funds and trains the terrorist Hamas in Gaza. Israel got out of there in 2005 and since then, more than 6,500 rockets and mortars have been fired by Hamas into Israel. We caved into pressure from the USA and Europe and our leaving meant losing more than our homes there. It only instigated Hamas's hell-bent actions of destroying Israel.

Gaza has never been without food-only weapon materials with Israel's blockade of it. About 15 tons of supplies have entered Gaza weekly from Israel. Despite what Hamas tries to make out, Israel is an extremely humanitarian society and would not do to others that they would not have happen to them. However, its enemies are using this idea as a means to weaken Israel, thus a second try with a flotilla from several countries like Lebanon. Lebanon's ship is supposed to leave Tripoli for Gaza. The head of "Free Palestine" Yasser Qashlaq, an organizer of the ship Naji Al Ali, said "A day will come when the ships will carry the remainder of the European garbage which came to my homeland (Israel) and return them to their homelands. Gilad Shalit (today is the anniversary of the 4th year he has been held prisoner) will go back to Paris and those murderers (the leaders of Israel) will go back to Poland (has he been speaking with Lebanese connected Helen Thomas, former reporter?). Egypt's Al-Ahram newspaper said Qashlaq is the main donor of this coming flotilla.

Hamas continues to brainwash its children with hatred for Israelis. "This week Haaretz reported on a new hit children's song that is making waves throughout the Arab world. Called, "When we die as martyrs," the song is sung by a children's choir called "Birds of Paradise." In a YouTube video of the song, children between the ages of two and six sing sweetly of their desire to die for Palestine and are shown triumphantly killing kippa-wearing Jews. -from Caroline Glick.

A possible second Lebanese ship, the Mariam, is said to be an all woman ship. Some people think this is just another name for the Naji Al Ali. Even the Lebanese Transportation Minister Ghazi Aridi has said that this flotilla was meant as a public relations stunt, and that he doesn't know anything about this second ship. He only knows of the campaign called "Mariam". The Lebanese government is said to try to halt the flotillas from reaching Gaza, so sailing may be cancelled. The scuttlebut is that Lebanona and several other countries have left or are planning to leave for Gaza to break the blockade. The Lebanese ship is to leave in a few days from now.

What is known is that two people working on this Lebanese convoy say they aren't getting funds from Hezbollah but one has written such praise for the terrorist leader, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, and the other met and thanked him publicly (for what?) Nasrallah has said that more ships need to sail to Gaza.

Israel knows that more ships are a security risk because Hamas continues to smuggle Iranian rockets and such into Gaza. Netanyahu also sees this as an intentional threat to get weapons into Gaza.

While the organizer has called Jews "European garbage," the White House calls the flotillas "irresponsible." Nevertheless, if they come, Israel is prepared to handle the situation. They will be boarded and directed to an Israeli port for inspection. We will not back down in our endeavor to protect our citizens and put them in harm's way.

Just before Shabbat comes the word that Iran has cancelled their ship that was due to leave for Gaza. Israel had said that coming was an act of war, according to the article on yahoo news. I just hope that this confrontation has been stopped.

What This Next Flotilla Is Trying To Do

Five groups are gnashing their teeth in competition to get rid of Israel. Turkey has turned against its old friend as it is turning towards its compatriots. The Palestinians are led by Hamas in Gaza who are terrorists bend on destroying Israel. Iran has threatened to do bodily harm to Israel with atomic weapons it has or soon will have. The Hezbollah terrorist group is trying to take over Lebanon and is an outlaw group shunned by western states. If this isn't enough to join against Israel, Syria is also a part of the act. Its dictator, Basher al-Assad said in an interview with BBC that the Israeli raid on the Mavi Marmara had ruled out any prospects for peace in the near future. That's as if they were ever thinking along the lines of peace.

They're all together in their endeavors against Israel in the next upcoming flotilla threatening to break Israel's blockade of Gaza. Hezbollah is acting together with Turkey. The Hezbollah leader, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah has declared: "If the Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide," which shows that their hatred isn't just about nationhood but religion as well.

A Palestinian businessman, Yasser Kashiak, is organizing this next upcoming flotilla. He lives in Lebanon and is known for his connection to terror groups. He says he is the sole organizer but Hezbolla disagrees. None of these groups is interested in humanitarian aid, which is not necessary, but in breaking Israel's blockade of Gaza. They're trying to see which of their groups are the strongest.

This time Israel is prepared for the worst. She's not about to be pushed into a corner and give in with the blockade that is keeping her safe. This is a struggle for life, and Israel has no 72 virgins to gain if she dies. The word of the day and the year is L'Chaim! To Life! She has to do what she must to live. Right now that means stopping this flotilla. Netanyahu feels that the flotilla is trying to get weapons to Hamas. They no doubt will have them on board a ship. That's what building tunnels were all about; getting weapons in. It wasn't for smuggling in potato chips.

I'll Do It My Way-Should Be Abbas's Theme Song

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas split from the terrorist group, Hamas. Actually, Hamas won the election and kicked him out of Gaza, but Abbas is fighting Israel in his own way now from Judea and Samaria (West Bank). His PA TV "educational documentary" broadcast has Haifa, Acre, Ashkelon, Jaffa and the whole Sea of Galilee as belonging to Palestinians. These are and will remain in Israel. This act does not show any good will.

Haifa, on the sea and a port, is the city I lived in for 10 months while attending my ulpan, where I lived and attended school to gain my certification to teach in Israel's schools. It reminded me a little of Portland. Ashkelon is Portland's sister-city. Acre is a city I visited as my cousin, Stanley, had been held there by the British in pre-Israel English days. Jaffa is very close to Tel Aviv, Israel's largest city. My goodness but Abbas does have gigantic aspirations. And he's considered a pacifist? There are problems with him already and Palestine has not come into existence yet, nor may it ever at this rate. Mr. Abbas, do you think this is a friendly act to erase Israel's cities and call them your own? Why do you do this? Isn't turning your children against Israel in your textbooks enough evil? One would hope that a future neighbor would be as benign as Canada.

Fenton Communications, a U.S. public relations firm has been working for "Al Fakhoora, a Qatar group that was involved with the illegal flotilla to Gaza. They urged action against Israel. This group is funded by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, 2nd wife of Emir of Qatar. They're being paid about $240,000 for services from March 1 to Aug 31, 2010. The director of Al Fakhoora, Farooq Burney, a Canadian national, was on the Turkish ship on May 31st when they ran a blockade on Gaza. He was in partnership with IHH, who has jihadist ties and considered to be a terror group. Passengers on that ship had connections with Al Qaeda, Hamas and other terrorist organizations.

Fenton Communications, of which is named for it's originator, David Fenton, has a motto. "We frame the issues so they speak to people's hearts and minds and change their behavior." Yes, David. I see you are changing people's attitudes towards Israel in favor of a group that has been antagonistic and warlike ever since Israel's inception. Lying hasn't been left out of your planning as the lies that were told on the Mavi Marmara about the goings on when Israeli soldiers were attacked by martyrs hoping to die for their cause.

I note that the far away country of Qatar is getting in on the act, no doubt to impress its peers. I wonder if it's their gas money that they are spending.

American Groups Supporting Hamas and Hezbollah Terrorists Against Israel

Former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark founded IAC, the far-left International Action Center in 1992. It was supposed to be an anti-imperialist and anti-war group. The group, ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) was a spin-off created in 2001. Their ideology is from the Workers World Party which is a revolutionary Marxist-Lenist party founded in the 50's with the reasoning that only socialism will end exploitation, racism and war.

These two groups have been supporting terrorist groups determined to end the state of Israel including Hamas and Hezbollah. These terrorist flags and signs are seen on display at ANSWER and IAC-organized anti-Israel rallies. Their representatives attend conferences with the terrorist representatives.

What they have done is link the Palestinian causes with anti-occupation initiatives. "Occupation is a Crime: Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine" are seen in their signs. They equate the situations together, though they are completely different. They have organized many anti-Israel events, rallies and demonstrations in the USA. They even have used the Holocaust pictures likening Jews and Israelis to Nazis which is a huge affront to us.

If anybody knows the dangers of a holocaust and its creation, it's the Jews who are the most self critical people on the face of the earth and who were the ones victimized in the Holocaust. None of us want to see this happening to others. Israel goes through great pains in trying to protect its citizens while being fair and humane to its hateful enemy, the terror groups of the Palestinians.

Blockading Israel

Israel has lifted the 3 year old blockade on most all goods entering Gaza, keeping out weapons or things with a military use. The big change is in allowing building materials that could have become part of the tunnels supplying terrorists with weapons. Now projects in Gaza will have international supervision. Cement was one of the items banned before. Before the flotilla blockade, the international community was doing nothing to assist Israel in its defense procedures.

However, back in the United States we see that in the port in Oakland, California, protesters against Israel are picketing because an Israeli ship is due to arrive. They intend to stop the ship from being unloaded. the longshoremen have agreed to not crossing the picket line. What are they protesting? Could it be that they want the Gazans to have weapons against Israel?

6/21/10 I just read that the UN wants the whole blockade lifted to get building materials in Gaza, plus they want to enter at a bigger entrance way, probably to avoid checking for weapons and such. Everyone is getting into the act and against Israel in her desperate endeavor to protect itself. We know that the terrorists are not planning on stopping their attacks on Israel. They just feel encumbered in their ability to get weapons, now. It would be wonderful if they were a peaceful lot who just wanted to live and rebuild, but living graciously isn't in their plans-with many not even wanting to live to a ripe old age. The sad part is that the UN is not an unbiased group. They are top-heavy with Palestinian sympathizers.

Revealing Turkey's Ambitions

January 2009: Prime Minister of Turkey Erdogan walked out of debate with Israel's Peres in Switzerland.

October 11, 2009: Turkey excluded Israel in international air force exercises. Then the USA pulled out, also.

January of this year Turkey showed their being a turncoat against Israel by airing a TV program called "Valley of the Wolves" which showed a horrible play of Israelis kidnapping Turkish babies and attacking old men. It included assassinating the Israeli ambassador.

On June 16th Turkey sent hundreds of troops followed by their warplanes into N. Iraq to go after Kurdish guerrillas, killing four after they had attacked a Turkish unit near the border. They have had continuing raids on Kurds, last in February 2008. 40,000 people have been killed since 1984. Turkey says they are defending themselves against a terrorist organization. What the Kurds have wanted for a very long time is their own state. Kurds are the closest to Jews by dna in the Middle East. They have supported us, and we had been supporting them.

You'd think that Turkey would be sympathetic to its old friend, Israel, but no, they were the ones who organized the six ship flotilla. Actually, it was organized by the Turkish Islamist terrorist group, IHH. Nine of their activists were killed in the planned attack on Israel in the act of attacking the Israeli soldiers boarding their ship. Israel was told they were a peaceful group, but they attacked these young men with metal bars, axes and knives causing them to defend themselves.

"In his footage, taken on board the Mavi Marmari on 30May2010, IHH leader Bulent Yildirim clearly instructs his followers to throw the Israeli commandos overboard when they land on the ship. His speech was made in Turkish and repeated in Arabic by a translator."

Turkey is claiming new friends, Iran and Syria, so has turned against Israel and the West. They have a Muslim majority now, but had been secular before. They have the chutzpa to call on the international community to punish Israel for the "bloody massacre" when they were the ones yielding the knives, etc.

Now Turkey gets some of Iran's enriched uranium in a swap so that Iran can avoid sanctions. Brazil is in on the deal, too. Hillary has called this a transparent ploy. One must remember that during WWI, Turkey was on the German's axis side of the war.

Some question has been raised as to why Israel has banned nutmeg, sage, caramom, cumin , coriander and ginger from Gaza. Though Benjamin Netanyahu failed to call me, Nahama, who sits safely in Oregon for advice, I believe I know why; or at least can give you the reason why I would do so.

There happens to be a war going on. Israel, which is I'm told anywhere from 1/10 to 1/3 the size of Oregon, has the Gaza Strip sitting on its border occupied with Hamas terrorists who have sworn to eradicate both the country and the people. They are not about to make peace. They have demonstrated this by attacking Israel for the past three years by shooting missiles and kassam rockets into it to the point where Israel had to conduct Operation Cast Lead, which is when they went into Gaza in force with its army in trying to stop the attacks.

Even now, though the operation was halted, the missiles keep on coming in. So there's no mistaking their resolve to hate Israel. They have managed to get supplies in through many ways, by ship, and by having tunnels where they get their weapons.

So Israel can't go in and wipe them out or they're condemned at every attempt of self preservation and protection. What else can they do? Earlier, they told terrorists that the result of their terrorism would be to have their homes demolished. Comdemnation flew in from all the do-gooders. What now? I believe they decided to keep basic supplies and necessities going into Gaza as they are a humanitarian people, but to keep certain goodies out. The reason for this is to make the population realize that if they would sign a peace pact with Israel they could again have those goodies.

Thus spices were kept out because they are so important in Arabic cooking. I see that chocolate and potato chips are on the list as well as toys. I'm not sure if this list is correct, but it's what's floating around on the internet. If this is the case it is to bring pressure from the children onto the parents to make peace with Israel. This would be a change from the brain-washing they receive in their schools and family of learning how evil and horrible Jews are and deserve to be killed.

Remember, Israelis are suffering from this Russian roulette life of wondering if they're going to be hit and when at any moment. This is not making them a relaxed people. They're tense! Going without spices and potato chips isn't half that bad. The way to a man's heart is supposed to be through his stomach. I hope they start thinking of the time before Hamas when they had these things to eat and do the right thing by making peace.

I can imagine how Russia or China would handle a situation like this if they had a neighbor constantly shooting at them. I bet they wouldn't be half as nice.

6/9/10 Another thought-the kidnapped soldier, Gilad, has not been released by Hamas. This is also a possibility for another reason of holding back certain items. Release Gilad and we'll release certain products. Nothing else has worked or induced Hamas to free him.

6/7/2010 I have another thought as to why certain items are banned. It could be that these things such as spices are too similar to powders used to make explosives, and too hard for dogs to deal with, ruining their noses in finding contraband. Also, other items can be where bombs have been found in. I know that I saw a police exhibit in Safed showing all the items that bombs had been hidden in.
