Why Israel Can't Trust Iran

Nadene Goldfoot
2014's summer in Israel-Hamas supplied by Iran

One year ago, Israel was forced into a 50-day war to stop rocket attacks from Gaza. The conflict caused death and terrible suffering in Israel.

What Provoking War With Israel Will Bring

Nadene Goldfoot
Hezbollah Terrorist
Nasrallah, head of Hezbollah with Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei

Israel has been attacked either  by surrounding nations or the many  terrorist groups that have sprung up around her since 1948 in their War of Independence that started on November 29, 1947.  68 years of such stubborn actions to show they do not want to make peace with Israel and the ensuing damnations from their sympathizers are something Israel's military has to be constantly prepared for.  Israel is on the alert from attacks by Hezbollah in Lebanon now.  Recent threats have come from Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah.  Gaza has started firing missiles into southern Israel.

                                                  Hezbollah (Party of God)

Lebanon is another small country who is Israel's neighbor harboring Hezbollah.  Lebanon had the normal population of about 4,196,453 but today must have doubled or tripled with Syrian refugees added to the mix.  This was the fun state to come to for vacations, as it was only 60% Muslim and used to have a Christian majority government.  Today, Hezbollah terrorists have taken over.  They are sponsored by Iran.  The citizens of Lebanon have gone along with them, one even showing  a picture of their leader on their living room wall.

Their ideology is that of Shia Islamic fundamentalist terrorism as a political party.  Their goal is to establish an Islamic state across the Arab world and eliminate Israel.  They believe in fighting "Western imperialism" which would be the USA, for one.

They support Palestinian terror groups, set up cells in Judea and Samaria and Gaza, and continuously attack across the border of Lebanon/Israel.  The USA State Dept lists them as a terrorist organization.

Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel of the IAF in Israel in an interview with a German newspaper, explained how they have now warned Lebanese civilians of upcoming attacks and said that if provoked, they will not restrain themselves.  They've warned Hamas and Hezbollah and told them they'll hit their command centers whether they are in a building in Lebanon or Gaza if attacked.  They have reason to believe that Hezbollah has been preparing for the next combat round with Israel and to realize that Israel will be forceful.  They will do everything in their power not to hit citizens, and will be told to evacuate first.

Hamas terrorists -hiding identity behind black masks
Hezbollah and Hamas are working together to provoke Israel.  .  In the last several years the terrorists have been transferring their military facilities into civilian areas, again using their own population as a human shield.  This is so terrible since the population is over- flooded with refugees and they are living in every empty nook and cranny they can find.

Hezbollah has been working hard to prove that Israel has no right to be in the Middle East.  They are trying to undermine their legitimacy in the region.  So they fight.  I suppose they were much happier under the crooked Ottoman Empire who kept everyone down.  Well now, they are probably going to ruin this happy oasis of fun and games that Lebanon has been, sort of like the Las Vegas  or Paris of the Middle East.

Hezbollah has been acting as if they are the great provider for their country, the protector. That seems to be how the public is viewing them.

When asked in a TV program last night what their greatest problem is right now, a representative of Lebanon's programming  said it was ISIS.   Once they solve that problem, they can fact the Israeli problem, he inferred.  Evidently he'd be happier if Israel were out of the way, too.

Last night CNN's Anthony Bourdain, Parts Unknown, featured his 3rd trip to Beirut called Back To Beirut,  and as a chef, showed different scenes of Anthony eating lovely food there.  In one scene they spoke with an educated English speaking Syrian refugee telling about their horrid living conditions and the next scene was in a gorgeous American style kitchen and dining room eating enough food for any army that looked scrumptious.  What caught my eye was the picture on the living-room wall of Nasrallah, and his comment about doing without Israel later.  An interview of a young Syrian lady refugee asked her what would happen to her when her visa was up, which was in a few months, and she didn't know.  She feared she'd have to return to Syria and die there.  I have a friend in Damascus.  I am worried about him and his family as well.

Here Israel is taking care of  many Syrian refugees'  bodily injuries and the general population is following their leaders'  detestable attitude towards Israel.  It was Lebanon's Christian Militia led by Major Hadad in the 80's when they were pretty good friends with the Lebanese Christians.  .

Israel warned and warned and warned Gaza civilians of their coming to attack the terrorists who had attacked them, but it did no good.  They had used text messages and phone announcements and still they didn't move.  This enemy's immorality kept them in full view of impending attacks and in harm's way.

Israel Raids Iranian Ship Near Sudan

Nadene Goldfoot

Israel had to do what Israel has to do; raid another ship with weapons headed for Gaza's terrorists.  The fact that the ship, Klos C,  is Iranian didn't stop them at all.  It had an international crew of 17, now being interrogated.   Thirteen IDF commandos raided it off of Sudan early Wednesday morning.  This ship was disguised with a Panamanian flag and was carrying dozens of B-302 missiles with a range of up to 200 kilometers or 124.274 miles.

Last time Israel raided a ship was during the fleet of ships of May 2010, the Gaza Flotilla, which was  trying to break into the waters off of Gaza with heavens knows what as their cargo.  The ship, MV Mari Marmara,  was from Turkey, and this caused quite a roar with the end result of Israel having to pay Turkey a bundle for the death of a few of their 40 some crew  who attacked the 13 Israelis as they boarded to search the ship.  That's a tip-off right there that they weren't carrying dolls for the children or else why wouldn't they let the commandos search their ship like other ships in the fleet did?  .

Here's a case where the Iranian ship had a shipment originated from Syria.  The Syrian missiles, probably sent to Syria from Iran in the first place, were now taken on planes back to Iran, and then were repacked  on the ship to Sudan and were hidden with sacks of cement which is why Israel likes to search ships for weapons.  The captain of this ship first navigated toward Iraq and then finally toward Sudan in an effort to fool the IDF.

Evidently the Mossad was in on this as the IDF knew for sure that Iran was behind the shipment.  Our IDF are safe and guiding the ship to Eilat's port.  Israel knew that they were for Hamas, the terror group in Gaza. They were to be unloaded in Sudan and smuggled to Gaza through the Sinai.  There is a regional arms race with Iran in the lead.  The IDF will continue to act against such smugglers to secure the safety of the people of Israel.

Explosion at Syrian Air Base with Missiles

Nadene Goldfoot
There has been an explosion Thursday night at a Syrian air defense base near Jableh, on the Mediterranean coastal province of Latakia.  This was reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights who collects reports from oppositional activists.

"Hezbollah already has a reported 100,000 missiles of various ranges pointed at Israel despite the UN peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) having been charged since the end of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in 2006 with ensuring that arms wouldn’t reach the internationally recognized terrorist organization."  fox news.  Assad has become very tight with Hezbollah, which worries Israel a great deal.

The media is reporting that it was caused by Israeli jets who were attacking missile launchers at this Syrian base.  Nothing has been confirmed, so it remains as gossip.  Whereas the USA leaked information about Israel purposely last time, there has been no mention of who did this so far.  Perhaps it's a surprise to them as well.

This same air base was also said to be hit by Israel on Halloween of last year because of Russian-made missiles directed towards Israel.

Rumor From Kuwait About Missile Attack

Nadene Goldfoot

Rumor has it that Israeli jets hit Hezbollah's shipment of advanced missiles that were in a convoy.  The occurrence supposedly happened along the Syrian-Lebanese border.  This was reported about yesterday by Al Jareeda Newspaper from Kuwait.

The story is that on Monday the 21st (here on the West Coast of the USA) the jets attacked the missiles' shipment.  Lebanon evidently had reported that Israeli jets were in its airspace.  Nothing has been confirmed.

Israel should be watching, nevertheless.  Having such a shipment by people who want to destroy Israel and its people just cannot happen.  Israel is doing its best to protect the lives of its citizens.  It's on the job 24 hours a day in detecting such movements.

The best offense is defense, and this is what  Israel is doing;  defending itself.  She's in a very tough neighborhood.

Israel Hit Convoy of Missiles Headed for Shelling Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
NBC TV news just reported that Israel's jets almost flew as far as Damascus today and bombed a convoy of huge missiles waiting to be used against Israel.  They may have even carried chemicals in the nose.  The missiles were shown on the report.  To my eyes they were huge.

Israel National News reported that the Syrian army has accused Israel of launching a dawn strike with fighter jets  and hitting a military research centre in Jamraya, near Damascus.   This center, they said, is in charge of raising their level of resistance and self-defense.  That's jibberish for the missiles that Iran wants aimed at and used against Israel by Hizbollah..

Evidently they are saying that Israel had damaged the building when we know it was the whole convoy of missiles.  They are denying the reports that the convoy was from  near the border with Lebanon.   The USA is not commenting, either.  Israel's military intelligence chief is Aviv Kochave who is in Washington to talk with General Martin Dempsey.   Jay Carney from the White House is passing any questions and giving them to Israel.  Reports earlier said the convoy was carrying Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles.  That could be, but they come from Iran.

A report that has come in from last Friday, the day of Israel's elections, was that Fordow, the atomic plant in Iran, had had an explosion.  Iran has been denying that also.  Israel has been announcing this event.  Afterwards, "A request was made to [Hezbollah chief Hassan] Nasrallah to vacate southern Lebanese villages.
Islamic Republic Guards are on their way there. A decision has been made to prepare for missile launch from a certain area in Lebanon against Israel,” he said."  I believe this has been what's been going on. The convoy went  from Lebanon to Syria.
Whatever caused the Fordow explosion is not known.  Everyone except Israel has been denying the event.  Whoever or whatever the cause is, is a blessing as it must set back Iran's plans to make an A bomb to use against Israel.  We just had a 3.7 earthquake where I live.  It could even have been an earthquake way under the mountain where Fordow is.  We'll never know.  The story is that the elevator and stairs are in shambles and that several hundred people are trapped inside.  Smoke has been seen coming from the area.

Counterterrorism in Gaza: AQAP Saudi Cell Caught With Poison Chemicals

Nadene Goldfoot
Last Sunday, August 26, 3 rockets hit Sderot, Israel which lies just a few miles from the Gaza Strip border.  This time 2 workmen were injured.  On the very same day, 2 terrorist cells were captured in Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.  Both were created by Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula  This group, AQAP, has ordered its Sinai cells and the Egyptian and Palestinian branches to step up their attacks from Sinai and the Gaza Strip.  AQAP is an al--Qaeda group who revere Osama bin Laden of Yemen and Saudi Arabia.  The Saudi government evidently chased them into Yemen, whose government is also against them.

The AQAP have been found with not only weapons and explosives, but chemical substances for loading into explosive charges.  This type of evidence was found in 2002 when a bomb was found packed with poison chemicals and was detonated by a Palestinian suicide killer in Jerusalem.  It is feared that those weapons may also now be in the Sinai.

The result was 3 Qassam missiles fired into the industrial zone of Sderot-Shear Hanegev.   This started an even stronger anti-Israel offensive from Gaza.  The group in Gaza shooting is the Shura Council that is actually from the East Jerusalem area who are a 6,000 force of well-armed terrorists commanded by an Egyptian, Hisham Saydani.  Al Qaeda calls him Abu al-Walid al-Maqdisi.  His lieutenants and he serve as liaisons between the Sinai cells and the AQAP in Yemen.

Hamas terrorists who rule Gaza were holding Saydani in a special security prison cell until 2 weeks ago when they let him go.  He set up the Shura Council's attack near Rafah.  They killed 16 Egyptian soldiers and rammed the Kerem Shalom crossing barrier into Israel.    Egypt demanded that Hamas find and arrest them. The 3 missile strike on Sderot was warning Hamas to stay away from Saydani and his new group or they'd keep striking Sderot until the IDF would attack Hamas's areas.

Hitting Eilat, Israel on August 17 was also a warning to Cairo to stop looking for the Salafi terrorists in Sinai or else southern Israel would continue to be hit, bringing out the IDF strikes.

Why Iran Sneers at the Whole World

Nadene Goldfoot
Iran has made it plain that they are out to get Israel.  The only people drastically worried about their ability are the Israelis who feel that they will soon have the capabilities if not stopped in time. Continued meetings have not shaken Iran at all.

Iran already has enough uranium for 4 bombs with their 3% while the world is only worrying about them reaching the level of 20%.  Iran has plans to go beyond that level as they don't think anyone is really determined to stop them.  This came from a speech by Netanyahu to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee today.

Sanctions that started yesterday  are only cramping their style and not severe sanctions.

Iran has stockpiles of weapons in Gaza that can reach Tel Aviv.  The situation in Sinai is deteriorating in that since the elections "it has become an "arms depot and firing range for Hamas missiles."  This is why Israel is working on building a border fence in that region.

Netanyahu feels  that to be concerned about Iran's goals to "wipe Israel off the map" is not being obsessive, but  healthy as it is a great threat to the people of Israel.  His responsibility is to keep everyone there safe.

The picture is even grimmer coming from the IAEA, the International Atomic Energy Agency back in May 25, 2012.  They scientifically predict that Iran will have enough uranium up to speed to make 6 nuclear weapons by the end of the year and already have enough for 4 of them.  Between the Fordow and the Natanz plants, they have enriched uranium up to 3.5% or 5 times what was foreseen in 2009.

This is why Netanyahu has often spoken of a time period of the open window that doesn't stay open for long.

No Let-Up of Rockets Raining in Israel During Putin's Visit

Nadene Goldfoot
Terrorists attacked the farming communities of the Eshkol Regional Council which is made up of 31 communities along the border of the Gaza Strip  with 2 mortar shells last night. When the siren goes off warning of an incoming rocket, the people have 15 seconds to get to cover, hopefully a bomb shelter.  The siren doesn't always go off.  So far, 6 rockets have come and the siren didn't work.

The rocket explosions  leave  people in shock.  One missile scored a direct hit on a home last week.  a mother and her child just got to a bomb shelter before the rocket exploded.  Dozens of children just got on their bus at a bus stop when a missile hit the area where they were waiting.

Tazpit News Agency's Anat Silverman reported that people are always thinking of where you could take cover at the sound of the next siren.  It's very stressful, and causes a feeling of pressure on your mind and body.  Not all people have bomb shelters.  Parents are lying on top of their children when the siren goes off if they have none.

While news reports that these missiles explode "harmlessly" in open areas, they neglect that the effect causes people to be hospitalized for shock and trauma, and that minor injuries are not even reported.  For instance, Tazpit reported that a kibbutz farmer, Max Yadgar of Kibbutz Nir Oz was plowing his fields a few hundred feet from the security fence (Israel's area is very tiny) when terrorists shot at him, breaking the glass around the cab of the tractor which cut his face.  He had to hide behind of the big wheel of the tractor for protection and wait for the IDF troops to come.  Max felt he needed to take  a few days off to recover from the shock.

During this time, Russia's President Vladimir Putin is visiting Israel.    He is scheduled to attend the unveiling of a Red Army World War II Victory Monument in Netanya Monday.  More than half a million Jewish soldiers fought with the Red Army in WWII against the Nazis.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed the idea of the monument to President Putin two years ago during his visit to Moscow. Putin complied and promised to come to Israel for the inauguration ceremony.Putin in 2005 was the first Russian president to visit Israel, and this time around he will make a high-profile trip to Bethlehem and to Jordan.

Noam Bedein, son of my old friend David Bedein,  is the director of Sderot Media Center and told of Sderot being under rocket fire weekly for decades.  He said that the weapons and rockets come from Iran and Libya and are smuggled into Gaza.  As long as this smuggling goes on, he figures that southern Israel will be under fire from all the rockets, mortars and missiles.  Sderot is less than a mile from the border and are first under attack, usually.

All Is Not Quiet on the Western Front

Nadene Goldfoot
The month of March saw terrorists from Gaza fire over 200 rockets into Israel over 4 days after terrorists Zuhir Musa Ahmed and Mahmoud Ahmed Mahmoud Hanani were killed.

Fire broke out in the Eshkol region in Southern Israel after it was hit by high trajectory firing into the Israeli territory.  IAF aircraft retaliated by striking 2 direct hits on  weapons storage sites  in northern and southern Gaza on yesterday.

Before, on Sunday the aircraft took out a terrorist tunnel with direct hits.  This came about in retaliation to being hit by a Qassam rocket in the south late Sunday night, exploding in the Eshkol Regional Council.

Friday morning another fight took place between IDF troops and a Gaza terrorist as they were trying to infiltrate the western Negev from Gaza which took the life of a young Golani Brigade soldier.

All this shooting was supposed to have been under a cease fire maintained by Egypt, but for the terrorist groups, only seems to mean that  they just do not fire barrages.  They shoot just as it suits them to remind Israelis that they can do it which disrupts the lives of those in Southern Israel.  How would you like to be the sitting ducks?

April showers brought 10 rockets fired at Israel in 9 separate attacks, two being launched from the Sinai in Egypt this time.  3 were Grad missiles aimed at Eilat on the Red Sea coast.  Some residences suffered from shock.  This happened on the 4th.  On the 8th 2 Qassam were fired into the Sdot Negev in the morning and a rocket was fired at Sderot in the evening.  The Color Red alarm sounded in the city once more.  Sderot has taken upteen hits.  On the 14th Fatah fired a rocket at night with CARE International detecting it coming from east of Jabalia which exploded prematurely.  They did it again the next day with Qassam rockets coming into the Sha'ar Hanegev and Ashkelon areas.  The 22nd, 23rd and 30th also had Qassam rockets fall into the areas.

May is supposed to bring flowers but the Ashkelon area only got another Qassam rocket and Israel decided to retaliate by hitting a tunnel in northern Gaza on the 1st.  Another Qassam rocket shot into Sdot Negev again on the 9th and that brings us to the 15th with a Qassam rocket fired in the morning into Sha'ar Hanegev area.

In this we see that Israel is the target of constant attacks.  Israel retaliates once in a while aiming at the cause, not the people.  Yet we are seen as the bad guys.  Go figure.  What kind of logic is this?  England is being very anti-Israel with many Brits supporting the Palestinian "liberation struggle against Israeli imperialism" as some see it.  This is the same British Empire who conquered and subjugated other countries, controlling over 1/4 of the world at one time where "the sun never set on the British Empire."  Queen Elizabeth II is into her "diamond jubilee" and has never visited Israel yet.

Senator Barack Obama flew into Israel vowing that if he became President he would work towards ending the Israel-Palestine conflict "from the minute he was sworn into office."  He didn't let on that he meant he would work to push Israel back to indefensible lines from 1967 which would mean untold amounts of Israeli lives to be lost. No, it's not popular to be supportive of Israel, but we are anyway.  They're the ones getting attacked and shelled and why?  For existing.

Israel's Protective Iron Dome or Kipat Barzel

Nadene Goldfoot

Brig. Gen. Danny Gold, head of Maf'at, decided that Israel needed a system of intercepting all the missiles.  By 2007 Israel commissioned developing the anti-missile Iron Dome.  They chose an Israeli contractor, Rafael. " The Israeli company, mPrest Systems, was put in charge of programming the core of Iron Dome's battle management system."

They designed it to intercept and destroy short-range rockets and artillery shells fired from distances of 4 to 70 kilometers away.  The trajectory would be taking them to a populated area in all weather conditions.  This is Israel's defensive countermeasure to the rocket threat against Israel's civilian population on its northern and southern borders.   Within 4 years is was combat ready.  There was no system like this in the whole world.  The people involved felt like a start-up business.  This was a remarkably short period of time for a weapons system to be designed from scratch.

Funding for it came from the United States and Israel.   They have invested nearly a million into the Iron Dome, and are willing to invest more, now as long as the USA can get the development rights to the weapon system. Right now they have no right to the technology involved.

To fire at one missile, it costs $40,000.  It's expensive to use.  It was first used on 27 March 2011 near Beersheba.  By the 10 March 2011, it was successful in intercepting a Grad rocket launched from Gaza for the first time.  On 10 March, 2012, it shot down 90% of rockets launched from Gaza it fired at.  By April it had intercepted 93 rockets.  Maybe that's why we haven't heard of rockets landing near Southern Israel's towns.

Rockets which look like they're going to land in unpopulated areas are ignored.

Israel's Vunerability to Rockets, Missiles and Mortars

Nadene Goldfoot
Wednesday night a barrage of about 9 rockets, missiles  and mortars had hit southern Israel from Gaza.  Thursday night Israel's IDF struck back hitting:
 1.  2 weapsons storage facilities in northern Gaza
 2.  3 smuggling tunnels in southern Gaza
 3.  a weapons manufacturing site in central Gaza.

Israel pinpoints their targets and has no wish to hit civilians.  Often times, though, places where terrorists hide out their supplies are within the area of populated centers, making it difficult.

A conference of the IDF Intelligence was held in Herzliya where the members were told about 200,000 rockets and missles pointed at Israel which can reach all the cities and towns.  They can even reach Tel Aviv.  Many have the capacity to reach 40 km, and some can also reach 100's of km as well today.  No place is safe from harm as far as reach goes anymore.  These are most likely positioned in Lebanon and Syria.

A Weekend of 120  Rockets and Mortars Raining on Southern Israel
Nadene Goldfoot

So far 120 rockets and mortar shells have been shot into Israel this weekend.  Israel's IDF hit Gaza in retaliation and may have to have a ground offensive to stop the attacks.  Five Israelis have been wounded just trying to get to their bomb shelters.  The Iron Dome stopped 10 of the rockets.

Offers of cease fire were relayed through the day.  After hitting Israel very hard, Hamas offered a cease fire which is typical.  In the past one is offered and then ignored.  This time Israel did not take them up on it.  This weekend Izzadin Kassam, the military wing of Hamas led by Ahmed Jabari would not listen to their Prime MinisterIsrmail Haniyeh who wanted a cease fire.

This escalation went on after Gazans hit the school bus wounding a 16 year old boy in the head.  It would have been worse but the bus had just let off 40 students.  Hamas pounded Israel hitting Beersheba, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ofakim, Sderot and other belt communities.  Usually it is Sderot that gets most of the punishment.

More than 20 Hamas terrorists were killed in the attacks and others were wounded in Israel's answer of air strikes.  Earlier the air force killed 3 senior Hamas commanders in a car in Rafah.  The commander had been the one leading the rocket strike on Eilat a few months ago and was a part of the 2006 kidnapping of Gilad Schalit.  The IDF also hit a terrorist cell behind the firing of Grad-model Katyusha rockets into Ashkelon earlier which got a senior Hamas field commander.

Hamas now is saying that they will escalate and hit more targets deeper into Israel if Israel does not stop the aerial assaults.

Such an attack caused about 750,000 Israelis to go to their bomb shelters.  Governments have thought that if the casualties in Israel are not high, being bombed really is not all that bad.   It is.  There may have not been a loss of life all the time, but the pressure of living under attack constantly brings about PTSD and other problems.  The point is that they cannot live a normal life, homes are often taking the brunt of an attack, and it's just too much.  Hospitals have had to go underground as well as manufacturing.  The goal of Hamas is to destroy Israel and until that changes, they will not change.  There is nobody around except Israel that is trying to make this point.  We will never see the day that America would put up with one rocket or missile fired into its territory without putting a quick stop to it, yet they have been expecting Israel to do what they would not do without raising a ruckus with Hamas or Fatah.  Israel has had very little help on their side against such a monsterous way to live.  Hamas keeps getting their money for noncompliance and the UN keeps clucking away against Israel.

Somehow, Hamas thinks they can escalate and Israel will do nothing and now they blame Israel for the violence.  They're copping a plea that Whoops, didn't mean to hit the school bus.  Gee, the yellow school bus was carrying children? commented Abu Zuhri?  That road is also used by IDF vehicles.

Where's Peace and Good Will Towards Israelis?

Nadene Goldfoot

While most of us bask in the holiday spirit of peace on earth and good will towards all, Israel is still findng itself in a game of Dodge Ball, only with deadly rockets and missiles.

Two Islamic Jihad terrorists were killed while planting a bomb along the border of Gaza meant to blow up Israelis. This happened on the eve of Operation Cast Lead of two years ago when Israel had to go into Gaza to stop the thousands of missiles that had been shot into Israel for the past 6 years. While the Palestinian terrorists claim that they want a truce, they keep shooting at Israel. This morning they shot 2 rockets into the Eshkol region of the Southern Negev desert, part of Israel. This escalation of attacks on Israel may lead to another Cast Lead type operation.

We have to respond with air raids into Gaza. Saturday, Hamas threatened Israel with a secret weapon.

The terrorists have been smuggling missiles into Gaza which they shoot into Israel. They try to hit civilians. We aim at these tunnels that are the means for smuggling. Everytime we respond back, they cry out that they are seeking revenge.

There's no United Nations keeping the peace. Other nations must be just sitting back and watching the game. I wonder if there are wagers going on.

Hamas's Escalation of Attacks on Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

While South American countries are recognizing Palestine, Gaza's terrorists have stepped up their missile and rocket attacks on their future neighbor, Israel. What a way to win Israeli hearts! What's a worry is that their maps do not show Israel at all! It's all PALESTINE. You'd think they're planning on destroying Israel.

Two years ago, Israel had to deploy their 23 day Operation Cast Lead because they had been bombed for 6 years and their citizens couldn't take it anymore, especially in the areas of Southern Israel where Sderot and Ashkelon lie. Other than Israel, nobody raised their voices of protest to Hamas terrorists, so they just kept on terrorizing and warring. Countries seem to only want to find fault with Israel.

All this year, Israel has been hit with about 200 missiles and rockets. They fell in every one of the 12 months. On Monday and Tuesday, 15 mortars or rockets were fired from Gaza. One Israeli teenager was wounded. Israel filed a formal protest with the United Nations. They won't do anything about it but at least it's in writing. I hope Israel has a copy.

Are terrorists trying to instigate another Israeli operation? Continued rocket fire could bring it about again. Saeb Erekat has condemned the bombings and he is the Palestinian Authority negotiator. I wonder what he's doing about stopping it?

Alex Fishmen thinks Hamas is just testing their limits and are setting up new game rules. He's a writer for Yediot Ahronot.

Israel's military officials have found that the terrorists are now armed with Kornet missiles that can penetrate armor on tanks. This adds to the tension.

Since Hamas took over Gaza in 2007, Israel has had to blockade it both economically and militarily because they have sworn to destroy Israel. It's wartime. Because of this, Israel has been facing increasing international isolation. It's about impossible to get support from the US or the European Union today. Israel, of all the nations in the world is expected to take declarations of war on the chin and not react like others would. They are to sit like ducks in a pond and be shelled but not bite back.

Everyone is pondering the reasoning for the escalation. I see it happening because of the states recognizing Palestine already, the stalling of the peace talks with Abbas taking such a negative stand, and the wearing down of the world that is giving into terrorism. Hamas even has its own political problems. There are other wilder terrorists like Islamic Jihad and the Army of Islam who are butting into the fighting arena.

Ashkelon, Israel: Population 110,000 Continues to be Hit
Portland, Oregon's sister city, Ashkelon, has been hit yesterday by at least two missles while the rest of southern Israel was hit by about a dozen others. These rockets and mortar rounds pounded Israel while Abbas and Netanyahu met with Hillary Clinton in Egypt for the 2nd round of peace talks. As far as I know, no one has been injured, which is a miracle with so many coming in.
The Gazan terrorists are determined not to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and continue to fight against Israel. Israel Defense Forces targeted tunnels running under Gazaa's border with Egypt. Terrorists use these to smuggle weapons and terrorists. The terrorists have claimed responsibility for two terror attacks on the eve of the Sept 2nd launch of peace talks.
Gazan terrorists get money from Iran, who back them. Iran also is backing the Southern Lebanon Hezbollah terrorists.
Ashkelon houses the only hospital in the area where even Gazan terrorists have sought medical help. They seem to be determined to bite the hand that feeds them.

Why Certain Goods Are Banned From Gaza 2010

Why Certain Goods Are Banned From Gaza
by Nadene Goldfoot
Some question has been raised as to why Israel has banned nutmeg, sage, caramom, cumin , coriander and ginger from Gaza. Though Benjamin Netanyahu failed to call me, Nahama, who sits safely in Oregon for advice, I believe I know why; or at least can give you the reason why I would do so.

There happens to be a war going on. Israel, which is I'm told anywhere from 1/10 to 1/3 the size of Oregon, has the Gaza Strip sitting on its border occupied with Hamas terrorists who have sworn to eradicate both the country and the people. They are not about to make peace. They have demonstrated this by attacking Israel for the past three years by shooting missiles and kassam rockets into it to the point where Israel had to conduct Operation Cast Lead, which is when they went into Gaza in force with its army in trying to stop the attacks.

Even now, though the operation was halted, the missiles keep on coming in. So there's no mistaking their resolve to hate Israel. They have managed to get supplies in through many ways, by ship, and by having tunnels where they get their weapons.

So Israel can't go in and wipe them out or they're condemned at every attempt of self preservation and protection. What else can they do? Earlier, they told terrorists that the result of their terrorism would be to have their homes demolished. Comdemnation flew in from all the do-gooders. What now? I believe they decided to keep basic supplies and necessities going into Gaza as they are a humanitarian people, but to keep certain goodies out. The reason for this is to make the population realize that if they would sign a peace pact with Israel they could again have those goodies.

Thus spices were kept out because they are so important in Arabic cooking. I see that chocolate and potato chips are on the list as well as toys. I'm not sure if this list is correct, but it's what's floating around on the internet. If this is the case it is to bring pressure from the children onto the parents to make peace with Israel. This would be a change from the brain-washing they receive in their schools and family of learning how evil and horrible Jews are and deserve to be killed.

Remember, Israelis are suffering from this Russian roulette life of wondering if they're going to be hit and when at any moment. This is not making them a relaxed people. They're tense! Going without spices and potato chips isn't half that bad. The way to a man's heart is supposed to be through his stomach. I hope they start thinking of the time before Hamas when they had these things to eat and do the right thing by making peace.

I can imagine how Russia or China would handle a situation like this if they had a neighbor constantly shooting at them. I bet they wouldn't be half as nice.

6/9/10 Another thought-the kidnapped soldier, Gilad, has not been released by Hamas. This is also a possibility for another reason of holding back certain items. Release Gilad and we'll release certain products. Nothing else has worked or induced Hamas to free him.

6/7/2010 I have another thought as to why certain items are banned. It could be that these things such as spices are too similar to powders used to make explosives, and too hard for dogs to deal with, ruining their noses in finding contraband. Also, other items can be where bombs have been found in. I know that I saw a police exhibit in Safed showing all the items that bombs had been hidden in.

Hamas Leader Mahmoud Maabhouh Assassinated

Nadene Goldfoot
A terrorist has been assassinated by someone. Israel's Mossad is being accused. He was assassinated in the first part of February, and it just made the news as a big event yesterday, so it's taken more than two weeks to be talked about. Mahmoud Mabhouh, Hamas leader was in Dubai at the time.

As it turns out, Dubai had terrific security and 11 people are dubbed the killers of which 6 of them were holding Israeli passports that were stolen. Would Mossad frame their own citizens for this deed?

My feeling is that Mossad does a better job than this bungled operation has been handled. They're being framed by British operatives. Every country has their network of spies, some of which are double agents or maybe even triple. Up till now, Mossad has been the most skillful operation. Israel gets blamed for everything, and this may just be another set-up. The difference is that Israel has a darn good reason to feel less regret about this death. We don't rejoice over deaths of anyone, even people that have done us harm. That lesson was learned in the exodus from Egypt.

Israel wasn't the only country who wanted to see this terrorist's demise. He was getting missiles from the Iranians which could have hit Tel Aviv, and there would have been one great war after that would have happened. It's possible that Arab governments don't want to get that involved. Then again, Israel doesn't want missiles to get into Hamas hands in Gaza and destroy it's 6 million citizens. Even a rival Palestinian group could have been the assassinators. Jordan and Egypt have been looking for him for a long time.
Dubai is the center of buying arms. Mabhouh lives in Damascus, Syria. He was on a buying mission. It's bad enough that Iran has threatened to wipe Israel off the map and just as bad if not worse if Hamas gets some of their deadly weapons. They're a loose cannon and a wildly irresponsible emotional terrorist band.

I didn't think that Israelis were allowed into an Arab country like Dubai. I know we can visit Egypt, but thought that was it. Of course, some of our Israelis are Arabs and they are citizens

Arms For Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
First off, most of the money from the United States to Israel has been in the form of loans which Israel has paid back. What hasn't had to be paid back has been in the form of grants.

The first arms sale by the U.S. government to Israel was in 1962 by J.F. Kennedy. This was in response to the fact that Israel discovered that Egypt could have as many as 100 ground-to-ground missiles ready by the end of 1962. A leading German scientist named Professor Wolfgang Pilz wrote to the Egyptian director of a rocket factory that he was in kahoots with that 900 missiles were to be built and that they could be fit with gas, chemical or biological warheads.

Needless to say, Israel was most worried. John F. Kennedy decided to supply Israel with defensive ground-to-air missiles capable of stopping aircraft, but not the Egyptian offensive missiles.

Then Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

The next war with the Arabs came in 1967. LBJ was of a different ilk. His sympathy was for the oil corporations and friendship with Arabs was more powerful than the Democratic party's traditional support for the Jews. So just like what happened in 1956, our American spies told secrets they knew about Israel's military to the Arabs. The UN had abandoned Israel when Egypt attacked her. Israelis fought alone and defeated the entire armies of the United Arabs in six days. It was then in 1967 that they were able to liberate the old city of Jerusalem and touch the Western wall of the temple for the first time. Many wept. Our "friends" had turned on us and yet we survived incredible odds.

Nixon, a Republican, surprised us all in 1969 by being a generous arms supplier to Israel. Selling Israel arms means that Israel pays back money for these. It's business. Nixon had been involved in the spy, Allen Dulles's program to help Arabs get missiles to use against Israel which was started in 1953. Dulles had an ex-Nazi friend, General Gehlen, and asked him to send men to Egypt to train soldiers for Nasser. They sent over Nazi war criminals and paid them with CIA money.

There has been a tremendous amount of treachery against Israel even before it's rebirth in 1948, but despite so many people conniving against this little country, it has managed to survive the odds against it. Finally we have come to the day where oil might not be the #1 important and coveted commodity making Israel expendable to politicians and profiteers, many of which have been both. Wind has been re-discovered as an energy. Electricity is more important now. There would be hope both for Israel's survival and for the planet's survival except for Iran's announcements of wanting Israel off the face of the earth and coming into the atomic age with 20% strength uranium warning us that they now can have atomic missiles but of coarse choose not to. This just doesn't gel with their declarations of hatred towards Israel and their defiance of not complying with the world's declaration of not wanting them to be in the atomic weapons business. Knowing just how treacherous and deceitful leaders of nations have been towards Israel, I don't trust anyone. What they say and what they want are two different things. I just hope we'll have a missile to counter an Iranian incoming missile that we can direct.

Kiryat Shimona Under Rocket Attack-1980-1985

Nadene Goldfoot
My favorite town north of Safed received rocket fire from Lebanon again. I remember living in Safed from 1980 to 1985 and this situation happened all the time. Kiryat Shimona was populated by a lot of American Jews and they were in dire need of a psychologist to soothe their anxiety. We were attending a 10 month ulpan at the time, and at Spring Break one of our friends went there to visit and wound up living in the bomb shelter for about two weeks. She was out of communication and we had no idea what had happened to her. The town held my favorite department store, the Hamishbeer, so similar to Meier and Franks here in Portland. I loved that store. When they were under a lot of fire I prayed that the department store would be spared. It was.

Now it's happened again, and I can feel the angst of the people living there. Though it missed its target and caused no damage or injury, it surely causes a lot of hearts to beat faster and mothers to feel a lot of concern for their children. The rocket came from the village of Houla.

Israel answered with artillery fire at Lebanon. The Lebanese reported that we fired at least eight shells toward that area in response. The border may now be quiet but it is tense.

Both sides accuse each other of violating a UN brokered ceasefire from 2006 that ended a month-long war between Israel and the Hezbollah terrorists. Lebanon is accusing Israel of planting listening devices and to overflight of an unmanned drone surveillance aircraft over southern Lebanon. Israel accuses Lebanon of two recent blasts involving weapons storage depots in southern Lebanon, and two rockets fired from Lebanon at northern Israel last month. A militant group connected to al Qaeda took responsibility for the rocket attack then.

It looks to me like Lebanon is involved with hiding weapons (to use against Israel, of course) and of taking pot-shots at Israel when they so want to, and Israel is trying to use surveilance to find out what they're planning to do to Israel. Of course Lebanon doesn't want Israel to find out, so again with the complaints and shootings.

We used to drive to Kiriat Shimona in order to get to the Good-Neighbor Fence between the two countries. I wonder what has happened to it.

Comment 10/27/09 from Victor Sharpe: The "good neighbor fence" died because Ehud Barak let our Lebanese allies, under General Hadad, down by withdrawing Israeli troops suddenly from the 10 mile wide security zone. He did this dreadful act in response to the campaign of the "Women in Black" who agitated for Israel to leave the security zone in Lebanon, which had protected Israel's northern border. Predictably, the vacuum was immediately filled with Hezbolah, and the Lebanese Christian allies who had supported us were left to twist in the wind. Barak did this and should be covered in shame. Israel cannot afford to lose such good friends. That was the ending of the "good neighbor fence" because we betrayed those neighbors and succumbed to the Israeli leftist "Mothers in Black." Now we have sixty thousand missiles pointing at Israel from Lebanon. Meshugas!
