Sanders Has No Respect for Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

This angry man, Bernard Sanders (born September 8, 1941), wants to be the next
USA President and has already tried in 2016 and failed,
appealing mainly to Socialists and anti-Israelites like himself
said to be worth $2,000,000 .
"If he becomes president, Sanders said, he’d consider using the billions in aid the U.S. sends to Israel each year as leverage to force Netanyahu to change his actions, adding that Palestinians deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, the Examiner reported."  These words jump out at me and give me heart pains.
This man, who lived in Israel for a short while, just has no understanding of his people's history or what they have deserved for the past 2,000 years.  Is he just reading books by Chomsky or what is it with him?  Incidentally, President Trump was born June 14, 1946.

He's always pointing-Sanders and Omar

Let's talk about who deserves dignity and respect.  All people do until they break laws and attack people, and that's exactly what the Palestinians have been doing to Israel since their declaration of statehood in 1948.  Within minutes they were being attacked, and the English had left the Jews without arms.

Israel has been attacked because of them and by them in The War of Independence, The Sinai War, The Six-Day War, The War of Attrition, The Yom Kippur War, the Lebanon War, etc, etc.  with Iran now looming over their heads as well as Hamas and ISIS.  Oh what a crazy neighborhood we have moved back into.  It wasn't like we had left it when Jacob and his entourage of 70 of  family members left in a famine and found refuge in Egypt.  Well, this now-crazy neighborhood was home where they had been told was theirs to live in; Jews who found the rest of the world unwilling to put up with people who believed in one G-d only, but who did not proselytize their beliefs and force them on other people, either.

Jews came from Russia when I made aliyah in 1980.  I was in a class of 40 students learning Hebrew and most were Russians.  We lived in the same Ulpan in Haifa.  We even had a disagreement over the price of our main meal, served at about 1pm, and wound up in a Shveeta (strike).  I broke it with my German shepherd when we took over the building's office.  Oh what fun we had, American and Russian Jews, and the Russians were the better students!  My grandparents were Russian-Jewish immigrants back in the early 1900s from Lithuania and Poland.

The total amount of money from the USA since 1948 is 134,764.080 (in millions).
$94,792.790 was for military purposes.  Resettling refugees who were Jewish people living in Arab countries and were expelled in 1948 and other European Jews was came out of donations most likely from Jews abroad , like American Jews.   Israel has paid back their loans.  Lately we have had Russians and Ethiopians as immigrants, and I lived there as this took place, right in Safed.
President Truman was one of the first to recognize Israel in 48.  The League of Nations had voted for the creation of the Jewish Homeland in in the 20s, and the United Nations had also accepted Israel.

Financing below is in the millions-not billions

 ^ Military aid: 1959-1973 (Loans); 1974-1984 (Loans & Grants); 1984-Present (Grants)
* Economic aid is combination of grants and loans. Israel stopped receiving economic aid of any sort in 2007
° Refugee resettlement aid is earmarked for the Jewish Agency/United Israel Appeal to help transport and resettle immigrants in Israel. It was primarily used to help Soviet immigrants in the 1980s and 1990s. Today it is used for Ethiopian immigrants.
** This is funding allocated to American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA)
† Includes Food for Peace (loans & grants); Export-Import Bank aid; Housing Loans; Cooperative Development aid; missile defense; and, others.
# Includes $1.92 billion in regular military assistance and $1.2 billion for implementation of the Wye Agreement.
Loan guarantees are not considered foreign aid so the $7.9 billion in guarantees have been excluded from this table (see Loan Guarantees for Israel [table]). This table also excludes funding for certain other projects the CRS does not consider foreign aid, such as the $180 million for the research and development of the Arrow missile.

Many Jews are still coming from Russia today because of
Putin.s way of life.  Somebody's been doing their homework
and are patriotic about Israel already.
Israel has given to the world, not just to the USA.  It has made advancements in the medical field, fighting cancer and other important killers; it goes to countries and teaches about protecting themselves from terrorists, and are leaders in so many fields.  It is such a blessing to the world that this remnant of a once large empire has taken the lead in so many discoveries.  Wherever earthquakes have happened, Israel is there to give aid.  To slam this country is to slam our religion, for their moral compass is Judaism.

Speaking  to J Street, the group trying to rub out AIPAC
J Street prefers to tell Israel what to do from their Democratic USA couches while AIPAC (American-Israel Public Affairs Committee)  the only organization for years speaking for Israel continues, thank goodness!  J Street says their  "stated aim is to promote American leadership to end the Arab–Israeli and Israeli–Palestinian conflicts peacefully and diplomatically."  They are speaking for very liberal Democrats and their opinions, not that from Israel. They say they are Israel advocates, yet I have not seen proof.  They are detractors, speaking for others, not Israel.  George Soros is said to have been one of
the founders.  I wonder if Sanders has ever heard or read anything
by Professor Eugene Kontorovich, the intellectual architect of US state laws
regarding boycotts of Israel?  Other Israeli positions?  He

advocates with undisputable facts.
One of the worst enemies we have are such people as this who have no use for their religion nor their own people and have cultivated friendships with its enemies.  When a well-known person advertises dislike for Israel, whether they are right or wrong, brings on that same attitude  of anti-Semitism by the sheep of the land, those that follow without thought or care.

Obama's Administration Using Chickenshit in their Diplomacy

Nadene Goldfoot

Some idiot senior Obama administration official doesn't understand Netanyahu's position at all about Israel.  He refers to him as Bibi, his nickname with friends, and said that he's a chickenshit. This word means worthless or contemptible (used as a general term of deprecation).

"no more chickenshit excuses"

Netanyahu's first responsibility is to his own people's safety, and if he followed this official's

ideas, he would be putting Israelis in harm's way, no doubt.

The official can't read Netanyahu at all.  Is he/she another of these two-faced friends?  Is he/she one of those who walked out on Netanyahu at the UN when he explained the red line in his speech about atomic weaponry?  You can't fault Netanyahu for his speaking prowess, for he's a great speaker.  When a diplomat has no idea where a leader of a small country is coming from, there's no hope of having any endearing ties.

                                                                       Sadat of Egypt

                                                                   Begin of Israel

One of the best unions was that between Sadat of Egypt and Begin of Israel.  They didn't always see eye to eye on how to bring about the conclusion both agreed upon, but they felt the warmest regard for each other.  When Sadat died, Begin wrote to his widow beautiful words in remembering their friendship and when Begin's wife, Aliza died, Jehan wrote to Menachem Begin in a beautiful and understanding letter.  Sadat was assassinated, mostly for his going to Jerusalem and making friends to bring about peace between the 2 countries which still stands to this day.  Begin was a born debater.  Sadat was a great listener.

Evidently Obama's people do not understand that Iran and their atomic power is not created for undercutting their oil supply, but that they have evil intentions to use it on Israel, for one, and then maybe the giant USA.  They're playing around with people's lives in trying to be the bigshots they aren't.  Kerry is no Kissinger.   Iran's far more polished in dealing with such dealers in the open markets, and these wiseguys can't compare.

When the Shah was in power, Iran and Israel did business together.  He was a friend.

Another thing; our administration is such a group of hotshots that they think they can tell another nation when and where they can build.  Israel is not a satellite of the USA but has been a good friend, the only Democratic state in the Middle East since 1948.  Israel has been holding land they received by winning the1967 war for 47 years, now, patiently waiting for some spark of peace from people bent on their destruction. I call waiting 47 years a lot of patience.  Remember, Israel was attacked then by surrounding states who thought they'd get rid of the only Jewish state in the midst of a sea of Muslims.

Personally, every time they caused a bomb to fall on my country, I'd build another house on that land.  Every time another Jewish life was murdered, another apartment would go up.  I'd keep a tally going on the highest building in Jerusalem for all to see as to all the steps taken by the Palestinians have taken against peace for nudniks like this official could understand better.  Israel is a free democratic society built on the traditions of Moses who brought the Israelites laws in how to be fair to people.  They follow a higher power than the Obama administration is  and consider themselves people that must  follow highly moralistic rules of behavior.  Jews are an ancient race, who were writing when others were chasing wild animals and people.  They have produced many psychologists such as Freud and Adler  who studied people's behaviors.  They know what they're doing when they announce that they are GOING to build on this bare undeveloped land of theirs to people who SAY they want a Palestine in that spot but want to drop bombs and send in suicide bombers to attack Israelis.   Obama, Israel knows how to play the game of chess very well.

                                                               PLO's Arafat

The PLO never was out for peace, and Fatah is nothing but  the PLO with a new leader who has not shown any change except the overt acts of the PLO have been taken over by Hamas.  Their acts are more insidious like celebrating the murderers of Jews.

Obama's administration is so similar to Ronald Reagan's and  Jimmy Carter's; one a Republican and one a Democrat.  It is all in how these men look upon Jewish existence.   Ford's wasn't too outlandish and Nixon was single-minded but did want Israel to succeed.  The best was Harry S. Truman.  However, I can't say that much for our present administration in the acts they have pulled and with the people in the administration who are opposers to the life of Israel.  What has been typical with so many presidents is that they have said one thing but did another.

An example was at the end of Begin's service as Prime Minister.  Israel was blamed by Reagan for the Lebanese Christian Militia going into Sabra and Shatilla and massacring people.   Begin found this accusation to be unbelievable, fantastic and utterly despicable.  Lebanon's President elect Bashir Gemeayel was assassinated on September 14, 1982  for being a Christian by his own Muslim population.  This was terrible for Israel as the two had much planned in the name of peace.  After this happened, Israel moved the IDF into West Beirut to prevent a Christian revenge on the Muslims.  No one in Israel dreamt that the Christians would massacre people in these camps who were Palestinians.  It was Arabs murdering Arabs, and the Jews took all the blame.  The truth of the matter was that the IDF stopped the carnage.  This event was used as a libelous campaign against Israel and no other people other than Israel were outraged about it.  Within weeks, everyone everywhere thought, from what they saw and heard through the media, that it was an Israeli military unit that massacred the Palestinians.  General Sharon, who was the friend of Major Hadad of the Christian Militia and who had been helping Israel by guarding the border, had to be the fall guy and took the blame, though he had no idea his friend would bring such an act about.  I doubt it Hadad realized himself what his men were about to do.  They were "mad as hell" at the Palestinians at the time, and revenge was the name of the game to them.

When questioned amid all the strife between the USA and Israel,  Jeffry Goldberg let it be known that diplomatic relations between them is in a "full-blown crisis."  Calling Netanyahu a chickenshit certainly is showing the level of intelligence for this official, and that's why it's hard on Netanyahu to remain civil.    How he does it is beyond me, but he could explode in Hebrew, however there are no swear words in Hebrew to use.  English has a monopoly on them but I hear that Arabic has their share, too.  First,  it's been nasty words coming from Iran, and now from the Obama administration.

Every American administration has wanted to bring about a Palestine thinking this is the panacea of  all the problems in the Middle East.  At this time, it would only be bringing about another Gaza stronghold where Arabs can air their rockets, missiles and mortars at Israel in order to suffice their goal of being the ones to destroy Israel.  Take off your blinders and see the truth.  Stop trying to add such a destructive move onto your resume of accomplishments.  Open your ears and listen to Netanyahu for a change before it is too late.  What is it in physics?  For every cause there was a reaction?  Learn why Netanyahu has taken the stands he and his country has.

Happenings In Our Crazy World This Week (June 17, 2014)

 Nadene Goldfoot

The kidnapping of 3 Jewish school boys by Hamas Terrorists

The biggest disappointment happened last week in Athens when a proclamatiion was adopted by EU foreign ministers and their Arab colleagues.  It was one-sided and said that "it hails the Fatah-Hamas union and praised the Palestinians committed to DEMOCRACY and HUMAN RIGHTS.   Yet Hamas continued to shell Israel more than usual.  The declaration included harsh criticism of Israel.  Seems they can practice terrorism such as shooting  and terrorist acts of kidnapping, and that's okay.

Judea-Samaria and Gaza  in red, Israel in yellow.  One can see the katusha rocket range from "Palestine."  This week it's still hitting southern Israel from Gaza.

ISIS, IRAQ  and  IRAN
The USA had  meetings with Iran about Iraq, the state they had a war with in 1980 that lasted for 8 years. Iraq and Iran  had fought so long and hard that the war was down to children fighting.   They met on Monday in Geneva, Switzerland about the ongoing nuclear negotiations and discussed the crisis in Iraq.  They discussed how ISIS threatens many countries in the region, including Iran.   (TIME).

ISIS now 35 miles from Baghdad, Iraq

Israel is against such an unparallelled meeting.  Yuval Steinitz, the Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister, said Iran should not be helped to extend it's sway in Iraq.  Tehran would then have more control in Syria, where the Iranians back President Assad.  They'd get their foot in the door in Lebanan, where they have their Hizbullah allies.  This would wind up softening the American positions on the issue of the Iranian nuclear issue more than they already are, just what Iran would love.  It would be that the USA and Iran would be on the same side of supporting the government of Iraqi Prime Minister al-Maliki.

It may be that both are rooting for Maliki, but each has their own different reasons.  ISIS, the branch of al-Qaeda, is the enemy in this case, and is the worst Shi'a group in history.  For a group that started with little finances, they fixed that by robbing a big bank in Iraq, so that now they are loaded.  Right now ISIS is about 35 miles away from Damascus, supposedly a well-fortified city.

                                               KIDNAPPING OF 3 ISRAELI TEENAGERS
Two (2) months ago, PA's Abbas asked that Palestine be included in 15 international conventions.  One was the 1989 UN convention on the Rights of the Child...and Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in Armed Conflict.  At the same time they are responsible for the kidnapping of 3 Jewish teenagers by Hamas.

Israel holds the PA responsible for this act.  Hamas terrorists took the boys, of who one holds dual citizenship- USA and Israel.  The terrorists were staying in Judah which is under PA control.  Israel is holding many people in the act of searching for them.  Israel said that the 3 boys' lives are in danger and they will have to move in anyway possible to get information as to where they are to rescue them.  The clock is ticking.  Netanyahu promised that those who try to attack Israeli citizens like this will be hit for doing so.

He asks that the international community condemn this abduction and support Israel's legitimate acts of self-defense.  All the while Israel has been attacked by rockets from Gaza during this period from Hamas.  When a state is under attack by a terrorist group, it is a far more serious situation than if some gang of thieves kidnaps someone for financial gain.

                                                    RANDOM ACTS OF HOSTILITY
Three (3) Palestinians tried to break through the security perimeter of Kochav Yaakov in Judea-Samaria late Monday night and IDF soldiers shot at them, injuring one.  The others got away.

Two (2) firebombs were thrown at the Beit Orot Yeshiva on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem which set off a  fire , but it was small.

60+ Rockets Hit Southern Israel From Gaza

Nadene Goldfoot

Southern Israel was just hit by 60 rockets from Gaza.  No doubt Hamas terrorists, but Islamic Jihad terrorists say they are responsible, and really Hamas is responsible for what they do.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu threatened a strong response against those responsible.  Tanks are now clashing with terrorists and have destroyed 2 targets of destruction.

Remember that Israel left Gaza completely in 2005.  They withdrew the IDF and left their Jewish communities and forced 9,000 Jews living there to leave-unwillingly.  They did this in the name of peace.

At the time, Israel's right wing warned that this would leave Israel vulnerable, and they were right.  Since 2001, southern Israel has been hit with more frequency from Gaza's people of which Hamas had kicked out Abbas and had taken over as full time terrorists.

Such timing.  Right now it's early Thursday morning.  Sunday is Purim, the celebration of Jews remembering how they were saved from death planned by Haman in Persia by the Queen Esther, who was a Jew unknown to the royal house.  She was in the right place at the right time to save all the lives of her own people.

Hopefully, we have the same thing going on today, with the right people in the right place to save Israel.  Such is what they have been doing since 1948.

Israel's Operation Pillar of Defense's One Year Anniversary Against Hamas

Nadene Goldfoot

It was just one year ago that Israel had said ENOUGH and after being hit by rockets, mortars and missiles from Gaza since 2001, finally went into Gaza  in an offensive land operation to put an end to the shooting with Operation Pillar of Defense that lasted for 8 days.

It was recalled by both Hamas and other affiliated terrorists in Gaza and in Israel.  Cities like Sderot and Ashkelon were favorite sites hit in Israel.  Where Sderot is very close to the border, Ashkelon is a large major city to the north of Gaza along the sea where a large hospital is that serves both Arab Gazans and Israelis inside a large perimeter.  The strikes have caused the hospital to go to the basement levels in order to take care of their patients.  What seems to be an insane goal to me, the Arabs keep aiming for the city that provides them life when they themselves are injured.

Saturday afternoon during Shabbat, southern Israel was greeted by 3 rockets shot at them from Gaza.  They landed in an open field in Gaza!  The platform they were shot from must have been further back to not make it over the border into Sderot or some other Israeli site.

That was the climax of a week of rockets that were fired.  Last week one rocket again fell short of the border of Ashkelon from Gaza. First the warning siren blared.   The population were driven to take cover in bomb shelters.  The rocket fell just a little way from the border but landed on the Gazan side.

Last Tuesday, a Palestinian Arab managed to get into Israel from Gaza and was caught by the Israeli security forces.  He didn't come over as an immigrant wanting a better life, though.  He had grenades in his pockets.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented that there have been only 35 incidents of rocket fire since then, so this showed a 98% drop of rocket fire since last year's operation.

Will Kerry be successful in bringing about peace between the Palestinians and Israel?  He's dealing with Abbas from Fatah right now.  They have no connection with Gaza, the section that Israel left, lock, stock and barrel in the name of peace that has turned into a launching pad of rockets, mortars and missiles against them.

Hamas's charter shows no sign of ever making peace.   The charter is a 30 page document and as long as it remains their guiding dogma for Hamas or the Palestinian people in mass, the dream of peace remains impossible.  Land is elemental in this problem.  It is religion that is guiding the Palestinian Arabs.  From the Hamas Covenant, we read that "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."  (said by The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory.)  The name "Hamas" means  strength and bravery according to Al-Mua'jam al-Wasit: c1.  They write, "Our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious.  It needs all sincere efforts."

That religion is the driving force, from article 6 in their charter, says, "The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees.  The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.  Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

I have asked several Muslims about this section often quoted by Westerners who have studied the Koran and it has been explained to me in a very confusing way that either it's not there or its meaning is different and must be studied from another one of Islam's writings.  I get the feeling that it is not interpreted correctly but is often used by less educated Muslims to be the banner for their land fight against Jews in the Middle East.  However, when Muslims of little education read it, it is a very blatant statement and sounds like a dictum to be very aggressive against Jews and to do them harm.

Therefore I see in article 13  that there is no solution in Palestinian thinking  about the  Palestinian question  of a 2 state solution except through Jihad.  Initiative, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.  Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences  are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement.

Article 32 threatens Muslims that today Jews are taking Palestine and tomorrow it will be one country or another and that the Zionist plan is limitless.  They warn that the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates, and then want to take more land.

I find this laughable because our problem is keeping Israel with a majority of Jews to keep it a Jewish state.  The last thing we need is again to live among the world as we have been, a minority without any rights of our own as has already happened in the past.  It is the Muslims who have been expansionists, forcing everyone to convert to Islam and taking their land and holy sites.  So what they really are fearing is that Jews will suddenly act like they have with the same kinds of goals.  Once they realize we are not about to ape their behaviors, perhaps they will accept us.  Hamas must be educated with some of these more enlightening and realistic ideas to solve this world problem.

Has John Kerry, Secretary of State of the USA, found out if Hamas has changed its charter yet?  How about Fatah?  Why should Israel make peace with one who is under the spell of the other and will cooperate with fighting against Israel?  Shouldn't that twosome be worked on by the USA first before even thinking of creating another state?  Could they be thinking that this will give Fatah power over Hamas?

What? Me Worry About the Iranian Deal? Yes, Worry and Also Worry About North Korea!

Nadene Goldfoot

People all over the world are suffering from anxiety about the nuclear agreement between the major large countries and Iran and wonder why it should be supported.  They are also worried about the start of a never-ending world war because of it.  It doesn't help that biblical prophesy has pointed out the end of the world at this time.  Atomic weapons only encourage this type of thinking.

So far, nothing has been signed.  There's just been a lot of talk.  When will it take effect?  Right now Iran isn't stopping anything.  The machinery is still doing its job.  Sanctions are being lifted anyway. Iran is receiving its bonus money of $7 billion dollars in sanction relief.   Countries are chomping at the bit to do business with Iran.  The deal was to be for this 6 month period only, and then final matters would be settled upon.

The final deal is a "huge concession and it says that it will involve a mutually defined enrichment program with mutually agreed parameters."  Enrichment only means to have the capability of making a bomb.  It is centered on the fuel cycle.  Iran has made no promise to stop working on ballistic missiles or weapons.  The nuclear program has 3 parts:  the fuel is one of them.  Then there is the warhead and the delivery system.  During these next 6 months they can do whatever it wants to work on like these last 2 items.

They are very close to reaching the nuclear threshold now.  Remember the line Netanyahu showed at the UN Conference that was televised?  They are only about 1 or 2 months away from this goal.  Mohamamad Javad Zarif, Iran's foreign minister said that when sanctions started Iran had less than 200 centrifuges.  Today they have 18,800 that have been added, so sanctions did not stop them.

The only thing sanctions seemed to do was to bring Iran to the negotiation table in Geneva and get some publicity.  Obama thought they were "crippling sanctions:, but that turns out to be a lie.  This is why Netanyahu has made the Iran situation his number one priority.  Amos Yadlin, Israeli expert said that Iran is on the verge of producing a bomb.   So the window of opportunity of stopping them is now closed.  The country most likely to be hit by Iran is Israel.  The statement of Obama's about having Israel's back seems to fade into the sunset.   Second in line would be USA targets nearby.  What is left to do other than worry?

The USA has also allowed North Korea to gain atomic capabilities and that is also a country with an evil empire.  The USA entered into the Korean War from 1950-1953.  Previously in August 1945, it had used the new atomic discovery, THE A BOMB on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan to bring the war to an end  The USA had nuclear weapons stored in South Korea, and now they have their own.  North Korea, the enemy in this war, just celebrated on July 27, 2013 the Armistice Day of this war between their North and South.  They continue to be an unstable government now ruled by the spoiled son, Kim Jong-un b: 1983, whose father was Kim Jong-il  who is following in his father's footsteps but is even more cruel and hard to figure out.   Kim just ousted his own uncle from his government position.  "Tensions between North and South Korea soared this year as Pyongyang reacted angrily to tightened United Nations sanctions imposed in response to its latest nuclear test.   The two sides are still technically at war after the 1950-1953 Korean War ended in a mere truce, not a treaty.  North Korea has been helping Iran with their atomic goals for the past 10 years.

This Iranian Deal  does not give us any indication that it will impede Iran's capabilities to manufacture the A bomb.  Instead, Israel may have to decide on military action in order to prevent being hit by an A bomb since Iran has been so obvious about their intentions to destroy this tiny country.  The possibility that the deal could lead to de-nuclearization is extremely remote, especially now that sanctions have been lifted.  It was the sanctions that drove them to the table in the first place and sanctions might have ended their desire to kill off a whole country as not being worth the trouble.  But now, it's probably full steam ahead for the next 6 months, and then the haggling, of which Iran is a master of, will begin.  June will be another worrisome month.

Maybe Iran and North Korea are singing this song, now, from St. Vincent Lyrics
"C'est la vie
What me worry?  I never do
Life is one charming ruse for us lucky few."

Or perhaps the big 5 and Kerry will be singing this stanza in 6 months,
Have I fooled you, dear?
The time is coming near when I'll give you my hand and I'll say,
"It's been grand, but...I'm out of here
I'm out of here."

Brinkmanship of Fatah Has Palestinian Negotiators Walking Away

Nadene Goldfoot

Saeb  Erekat, born in 1955 in East Jerusalem when it was under Jordanian Control

John Kerry is determined to reach a Palestinian-Israeli peace deal.  However, we just found out Wednesday that the 2 man Palestinian team, Saeb Erekat and Muhammad Shtayyeh,  had resigned 10 days ago in protest because Israel has continued construction in Judea/Samaria and east Jerusalem neighborhoods.

Israel seems to feel that the peace talks, which are given 9 months, are just keeping progress from moving along and intended to build. "Only two days earlier, Israel had announced plans to construct 1,700 new homes for Jewish settlers in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) . Palestinians angrily accused the Israelis of not negotiating in good faith."   The plans were in the works long ago and are much needed.   They had stopped for a year as agreed with Abbas and it was wasted time, as Abbas didn't come to any peace negotiations that time, either.  Israel has offered the olive branch ever since 1948 and has been very patient after being attack time and time again in wars by  the Arab countries.  That's 65 years without peace.  Now Kerry expects Israel to give away their baby with the bath water.  Give up everything, and what has Israel been offered?  Bubkas, as far as we know, since it is all very secret.

Abbas hasn't said if he would accept or reject the resignations.  He couldn't say if there has been any progress and will wait 9 months and afterwards they will feel free to do what they want.  Erekat thinks that because Israel is building this means it was the end of the peace process.  He's already told the US, Russia, the UN and the Arab League that these building plans mean that the negotiations ended.

Israel feels this is "brinkmanship", something that keeps on happening with the Palestinians and is a pattern that has happened many times.  It's their standard way of negotiating.

Netanyahu has told the housing minister to "reconsider" plans for the 24,000 units beyond the Green Line as a result.  "I'm concerned about their progress, because I see the Palestinians continuing with incitements, continuing to create artificial crises, continuing to avoid and run away from the historic decisions that are needed to make a genuine peace."   Abbas had to cut his visit to Saudi Arabia and return to Ramallah to talk with PLO and Fatah leaders about what is going on.  Since when are there any PLO people?  Supposedly PLO became Fatah.  Yasser Arafat had been the PLO leader.

The Palestinians are trying to take Jerusalem as their capital, among other factors that they have been demanding.  Jerusalem is a united city once again and the capital of Israel.  Another sticky point is allowing all the refugees who have multiplied since 1948 into this tiny area as the Palestinians demand.  Being they will not accept Israel in the first place in their midst, there are just too many idiotic concessions that they are demanding that will completely tear Israel apart, as little as it is and surrounded by hateful terrorists.   Personally, I think John Kerry is asking the impossible of Israel.  Also, he was aiming on having this all completed by May 2014, which is 6 months from now.

One important matter to Israel has been Iran.  Watching how the USA has capitulated to Iran shakes up Netanyahu's trust in the USA's negotiating, and this is a failure.  The way the peace talks with the PLO/Fatah is going looks like it's on the same path; both being against Israel's needs to survive.

Syrian Hezbollah Terrorists and Iran Threaten Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

On July 5, 2013, the Syrian port city, Latakia, was attacked.  Hezbollah terrorists were receiving a Russian shipment of improved Yakhont anti-ship missiles there.   The weapons cache were destroyed in the assault. These weapons could have targeted Israel's naval vessels as well as its Mediterranean gas fields.

Hezbollah terrorists have been receiving their military training, weapons and financial support from Iran.  Its political support comes from Syria as this "Party of Allah or God" is a Shi'a Islamic militant group and also a political party based in Lebanon.  The Arab and Muslim worlds regard it as a resistance movement and we; ie;  Netherlands, France, UK, Australia, Canada, Gulf Cooperation Council and Israel  regard it as a terrorist group.  It is on the side of the Syrian government in this civil war.  They were ones involved in the recapturing of Qusayr, a very strategic Syrian town.

Israel is the most concerned party as they would be first on the list of being harmed.  Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his government will not tolerate weapons transfers to Hezbolla.  His policy is to prevent such transfers to terrorist groups.  He was interviewed on CBS News program, "Face the Nation" about the Latakia attack and didn't mention who the attacker of the port was.

Netanyahu's other problem is Iran.  He said that they were edging closer to building a nuclear weapon.  He felt that Iran's new president, Hassan Rouhani, was "a wolf in sheep's clothing".  He just smiles and continues to build a bomb.  Rouhani is said to be a moderate in his policies, unlike Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was.  Would the Ayatolla Khomeini allow anyone in as president who wasn't following his prescription for ruling Iran?  Rouhani was one of 3 men involved with Robert McFarlane in the Iran-Contra Affair.  "He also headed Iran's former nuclear negotiating team and was the country's top negotiator with the EU three– UK, France, and Germany – on Iran's nuclear program." He is to take office on August 3rd.

Netanyahu has reports that they're edging up to the red line but haven't crossed it yet.  His conclusion is based on the fact that they are building faster centrifuges that will enable them to jump the line at a much faster rate and will be there in a few weeks.

The US should "ratchet up its sanctions against Iran and if this doesn't work, Iran must be told that that the USA is prepared to take military action.  This is the ONLY thing that will get their attention.  Iran must understand this.

What is the USA doing in other parts of the world?  A month ago, Obama promised arms and ammunition to the Syrian rebels, but now everyone sees that these are really very limited plans.  The USA planned to use the CIA to covertly train and arm the rebels but this could take months as it hasn't even started yet and probably will not  have any effect in the war.  It's not enough to get Assad to negotiate.  The USA has had previous ill effects from taking such steps.  Besides that, the international laws prohibit lethal support to a group trying to overthrow a sitting government, so our Congress is highly skeptical.  We were going to give the rebels AK-47 rifles, anti-tank weapons and ammunition which could find their way to terrorists who could use them to shoot down commercial aircraft.

Syria's government troops had clashes on Sunday on the edge of Damascus.  Their military has had the offensive to retake districts in opposition to them for the past few months.  They had tank shells and artillery that they were firing against the rebels.  Iran continues to back Syria.

Back in the 1980's, Iran, under Rouhani Ayatolla Khomeini(1902-June 3, 1989) arrested, imprisoned and executed thousands and thousands of their citizens because they conflicted with the regime's philosophy. All totaled, 20,000 died.

Today,  Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has the reigns of power and "Iran’s supreme leader has strongly rejected proposals for direct talks with the United States, effectively quashing suggestions for a one-on-one dialogue on the nuclear standoff and potentially other issues."   This supreme leader is the Ayatolla, the head of religious power in Iran, not the president.  The president is pretty much just a puppet.

"The US  further tightened sanctions on the Islamic Republic, which have already cut Iran’s oil revenue by 45 per cent. AP"  It looks like Iran will not bend to nuclear concessions saying the USA is holding a gun to their head.  Instead, they have been  asking for "a six-nation group comprising the permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany" for economic assistance.

Will sanctions work?  We can't count on the UN for understanding or backing.  Two weeks to the red line?   Are we now living in the eye of the hurricane?   What will August bring us?

Rouhani promised to bring about economic stability in Iran and is now incensed over Ahmadinejad's lying about their economic stability.  "Several newspapers quoted Rouhani as saying his team of experts concluded that only an average of 14,000 jobs were created annually from 2006-2012. Ahmadinejad, who took office in 2005, claims his government created hundreds of thousands of jobs."

Again, who rules Iran?  "All key policy decisions rest with the ruling clerics. The most immediate impact by Rouhani could be on economic affairs, which are part of the portfolio of the presidency."   "The hardline supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei remains the ultimate authority on all state matters, including the nuclear program."  Iran may have voted in a moderate, but the real rulers are not showing signs of softening towards Israel.

The Aftermath in Syria After Military Complex With Missiles Hit

Nadene Goldfoot

Syria's Civil War of Two Years, Supporters of Hezbollah

While Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel kept his appointment in China, who was hosting both Netanyahu and the "Palestinian President" Mahmoud Abbas Monday,  the USA Secretary of State, John Kerry, was in Russia to talk with them because they are Syria's most powerful ally.   The visit in China centered on their interest in playing a more active role in diplomacy because they are looking for more "markets, resources and diplomatic influence".

The  window of circumstance had opened, meanwhile, back in Israel where they had discovered that there existed extensive missiles at a site meant for Hezbollah terrorists to use against Israel.  This complex must also hold the chemical weapons they have already started to use.  Because of that alone, Israel was forced to issue gas masks to their entire population.  We know that they had two choices;  wait to be hit by thousands of missiles that could reach and wipe out Tel Aviv and hit as far as southern Israel from inside Lebanese territory or conduct a preemptive strike, which they have had to defer to before.  These missiles are bad enough as they are, but could also be tipped with chemical warfare.   Unlike the USA, information is accurate from their sources and the danger  is so close that one can just about see the target with binoculars from Israel.

The decision was made, unofficially.    It wasn't like not having warned Bashar Assad before about this problem.  Israel pin pointed the target and reports are that the sky was lit up.  The arms that were hit were causing a boom and a very frightful force felt by many.  In the end, we find that that this airstrike on Syria's military complex near Damascus killed about 42 Syrian soldiers.

The USA could not make such a decision and also its existence was not threatened like Israel is.  It's been aiding the rebels in other more humanitarian ways with such things as food.  Now Moscow realizes, and should have known anyway, that Israel wasn't waiting around for approval from the international community to deter this threat to their lives.  When Israel says, "This is the red line,"  they mean it.  Russia and China, giants of countries, have blocked USA's efforts 3 times already to even pressure Assad into stepping down.  Iran doesn't want him to, either, as he's their puppet and also on their take.

What this can cause now is a switch over of sympathy and it gives the Arabs cause to go over to Assad's side instead of the rebels.  The main picture in the Oregonian is that of Iranian and Syrian students chanting slogans during an anti-Israel demonstration Monday in front of the UN office in Tehran, Iran.  This will cause many to join them in their assessment against Israel, who are against them anyway.  Now they can really yell.

Assad has managed to kill off over 70,000 of his own people in his zeal to hold onto his kingship in the past 2 years alone.  Evidently life in such a police state was hard to deal with, causing such an Arab Spring in the first place.  It's been hard to rule people in Syria and Iraq as it is which has brought on such hard-nosed rulers in the first place who deal with an extremely volatile people.  These are hot countries that have hot-headed people.  Assad is holding onto what he thinks is his for dear life.  He's not about to step down.

Crippled Syria is nevertheless calling out that this strike that they figure came from Israel is a declaration of war.  I have news for Syria.  They never signed a peace agreement with Israel, either, and has been one of the prime leaders in all the wars against Israel.  It's known in this world that if one country has threatening moves on another, whether it be thousands of soldiers lined up ready to strike or missiles known to be destined to hit that country, one is allowed a pre-emptive strike for self defense.

By conducting this important airstrike, of which CNN TV news has had non-stop videos and comments yesterday, Israel inadvertently aided the rebels a great deal by destroying the military complex completely.  One cannot find but pieces of it remaining.  The blast permeating from it shows the level of the contents inside; huge.

The rebel were not asleep .  They shot down a military helicopter which killed 8 government troops in the east, while another group of rebels were inside a sprawling military air base in the north fighting on their 2nd day Sunday and Monday.  Assad's warplanes were pounding rebel positions inside the Mannagh air base in the north and the army had regained control of 6 villages that link the northern city of Aleppo with its airport.

The report from Syria's "OMRAN AL-ZOUBI, Syrian Information Minister: The Israeli invaders committed a blatant act of aggression against Syria. The Syrian military has the right and responsibility to protect its country and people from any form of infringement either at home or abroad."  Yes sir, if anyone has the right to kill off Syrians, it is the Syrian government.  How can this man keep a straight face when he says this?

Why Salaam Fayyad of PA, Prime Minister and Economist, Calls It Quits, Maybe?

Nadene Goldfoot
The Palestinian Prime Minister, Salaam Fayyad, a moderate according to the West, has resigned.  Most likely he wasn't being listened to by the more powerful henchmen of Hamas, who maintain their actions of terrorism and strong -arming Gaza.   Jonathan Tobin, writing in commentary, feels this is a "pivotal moment in the history of the conflict".  That's because Fayyad has been the Western hope for a technocratic Palestinian state.  We're left with a weaker Abbas now, who has also threatened to resign and Hamas.  The idea of a 2 state solution isn't looking so good for many reasons.

The Oslo Accords of September 13, 1993 never promised a Palestinian state.  Agreements have never been reached.  Everyone saw the Judea-Samaria and Gaza as one unit or one state-to-be.  However, the heads of these two places never could come to any agreements that lasted more than a few weeks.  One issue for Netanyahu and Rabin has been not to be set back to the 67 borders.  A month before Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated, he had said, " "Israel will not return to the lines of 4 June 1967″ and then stated that "the security border for defending the State of Israel will be in the Jordan Valley, in the widest sense of that concept."

Dr. Fayyad was born in Deir al-Ghusun in the northern part of Judea-Samaria.  He has a PhD in economics from the U. of Texas in Austin.  He taught economics at Yarmouk U. in Jordan before joining the International Monetary Fund in 1987 where he was a rep for the PA from 1996 to 2001.  Then he was the regional manager of the Arab Bank in Judea-Samaria and Gaza until he became Yasser Arafat's finance minister.  I wonder if he knows how much money Arafat kept for himself?

He resigned as finance minister to run as founder and leader of the new Third War party in 2006.  Again on March 17, 2007, he became finance minister with the Fatah-Hamas coalition government.  By June 14, 2007, Hamas took over the Gaza Strip and he was appointed Prime Minister of the new "Independent" government which was supported by Fatah, Israel and the West.  He won his seat along with Hanan Ashrawi.    When he was offered the position of Prime Minister, he had a few conditions that he wanted.  One was that Hamas would recognize Israel, which they wouldn't do.  One of his comments which must been seen as an antidote to Hamas terrorism was,  "its the responsibility of men of religion to...present religion as a way of tolerance,...not as a cover for bloodshed.  "  Yet it has to be religion that is the cause of the Arabs not accepting Israel, causing much bloodshed on both sides.

Fayyad was credited for the US Congress' deposit of $200 million to the PA in 2009.  Even with all that money, Fatah hasn't been able to pay their utility bills to Israel.  They have been suffering economically.  In October 2011 the USA withdrew funding to UNESCO after the Palestinian Authority (PA) was accepted into the United Nations as a full member.  The USA's contribution to this organization is 22% of their needs. The PAof Judea-Samaria  ran up a debt of  $165 million dollars to Israel's electric corporation.  Israel collects money for the Palestinians, so finally froze their money and used it to pay off their bill.

"For 30 years, Israel permitted thousands of Palestinians to enter the country each day to work in construction, agriculture and other blue-collar jobs. Until the mid-1990s, up to 150,000 people—about a fifth of the Palestinian labor force—entered Israel each day. After Palestinians unleashed a wave of suicide bombings, the idea of separation from the Palestinians took root in Israel. Israel found itself starved for labor, and gradually replaced most of the Palestinians with migrants from Thailand, Romania and elsewhere."  What they did was to bite the hand that employed them.

Gaza has bombed southern Israel with missiles, mortars and rockets since 2001.  This is not the way to induce friendships.  In Judea-Samaria and Gaza, not many are working at anything except how to destroy Israel.  Their unemployment is above 50%.  No wonder Fayyad quit.  They are depending on handouts which they are getting from Iran, Qatar and others as well as the UN.  However, a country cannot be run this way.  Fayyad knows this and is disembarking from  a sinking ship.

Kings Abdullah I and II and Connections with Their Neighbor, Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
King Abdullah II of Jordan has been together about 4 times in the past 5 years with Prime Minister  Netanyahu of Israel with much to discuss.  They met just last week to talk about peace negotiations and the Civil War in Syria.  They were also very concerned about the chemical weapons Syria might be using soon.  This was the 2nd visit they had together in the past two months.

On May 14, 2009 they were together at the Royal Palace at Port City of Aqaba to meet and talk.  They renewed their meeting in 2010.  Netanyahu didn't extend the 10 month constuction freeze they had in the West Bank as nothing helped matters with the Palestinian Arabs.

Golda Meir had a perilous secret meeting with King Abdullah I of Transjordan, just before the Arab invasion which was a dramatic attempt for last minute conciliation.  It was on May 10, 1948, four days before the official establishment of the state, Meir traveled to Amman disguised as an Arab woman for a secret meeting with King Abdullah  at which she urged him not to join the other Arab countries in attacking the Jews. Abdullah asked her not to hurry to proclaim a state. Meir replied: "We've been waiting for 2,000 years. Is that hurrying?"

In 1970, Israel helped Jordan by stopping the Syrians from making a move on the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at a time when the USA was involved with Vietnam  and couldn't commit troops to protect Jordan, an Arab ally.

Jordan was the 2nd country to sign a peace treaty with Israel on October 26, 1994.  Jordanians had been entering Israel and working, then going back home to Jordan.

King Abdullah II is of the Hashemite Kingdom, a direct descendant of Muhammed through his daughter, Fatima and her husband Ali bin Abi Talib's elder son Hasan.  Ali ibn Abi Talib was also the Prophet's paternal first cousin and the 4th caliph of Islam.  Ali and Fatima had 2 sons:  Al-Hassan and Al-Hussesin.  The direct descendants of their eldest son, Hassan, are known as "Sharifs" (nobles), while the descendants of Hussein are called "Sayyids." (lords.).  The royal family of Jordan, the Hashemites, is descended through the Sharifian branch of lineage.  King Abdullah II is a descendant of Hasan, not Husain.  King Abdullah II is a Sharif."

There are over 800 million Muslims in the world with about 5,568,565 living in Jordan and about 14 million Jews of which 6 million reside in Israel.
