Prisoner Exchange Hezbollah Terrorist Dies in Air Attack Over Lebanon

Nadene Goldfoot

3 Katyusha rockets were shot into Israel from Lebanon yesterday from a village 3 miles from Israel's border.  It evidently was a revenge assassination firing by Hezbollah for their notorious Commander, Samir Kuntar,  who was killed in an airstrike near Damascus.  It was a plane that hit a residential building in the suburbs of Damascus, killing Kuntar, reported Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah leader.  "
  • Kuntar was sentenced to life in prison for killing three Israelis in 1979 but released in the  high-profile 2008 swap.  Kuntar served 30 years in an Israeli prison for murder before he was released in a prisoner swap between Israel and Hezbollah seven years ago.
  • He had been a bloody killer even though he himself was 16 at the time.  "Kuntar was convicted of a 1979 attack in which he shot and killed an Israeli man in front of his 4-year-old daughter, then smashed her head against a rock with his rifle butt, tossing her body into the sea. The victim's 2-year-old daughter was accidentally smothered by her mother, who tried to keep her quiet as they hid from the attackers who arrived in Israel from Lebanon by boat."
  • Justice has been served, no matter who was flying the plane.

What Provoking War With Israel Will Bring

Nadene Goldfoot
Hezbollah Terrorist
Nasrallah, head of Hezbollah with Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei

Israel has been attacked either  by surrounding nations or the many  terrorist groups that have sprung up around her since 1948 in their War of Independence that started on November 29, 1947.  68 years of such stubborn actions to show they do not want to make peace with Israel and the ensuing damnations from their sympathizers are something Israel's military has to be constantly prepared for.  Israel is on the alert from attacks by Hezbollah in Lebanon now.  Recent threats have come from Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah.  Gaza has started firing missiles into southern Israel.

                                                  Hezbollah (Party of God)

Lebanon is another small country who is Israel's neighbor harboring Hezbollah.  Lebanon had the normal population of about 4,196,453 but today must have doubled or tripled with Syrian refugees added to the mix.  This was the fun state to come to for vacations, as it was only 60% Muslim and used to have a Christian majority government.  Today, Hezbollah terrorists have taken over.  They are sponsored by Iran.  The citizens of Lebanon have gone along with them, one even showing  a picture of their leader on their living room wall.

Their ideology is that of Shia Islamic fundamentalist terrorism as a political party.  Their goal is to establish an Islamic state across the Arab world and eliminate Israel.  They believe in fighting "Western imperialism" which would be the USA, for one.

They support Palestinian terror groups, set up cells in Judea and Samaria and Gaza, and continuously attack across the border of Lebanon/Israel.  The USA State Dept lists them as a terrorist organization.

Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel of the IAF in Israel in an interview with a German newspaper, explained how they have now warned Lebanese civilians of upcoming attacks and said that if provoked, they will not restrain themselves.  They've warned Hamas and Hezbollah and told them they'll hit their command centers whether they are in a building in Lebanon or Gaza if attacked.  They have reason to believe that Hezbollah has been preparing for the next combat round with Israel and to realize that Israel will be forceful.  They will do everything in their power not to hit citizens, and will be told to evacuate first.

Hamas terrorists -hiding identity behind black masks
Hezbollah and Hamas are working together to provoke Israel.  .  In the last several years the terrorists have been transferring their military facilities into civilian areas, again using their own population as a human shield.  This is so terrible since the population is over- flooded with refugees and they are living in every empty nook and cranny they can find.

Hezbollah has been working hard to prove that Israel has no right to be in the Middle East.  They are trying to undermine their legitimacy in the region.  So they fight.  I suppose they were much happier under the crooked Ottoman Empire who kept everyone down.  Well now, they are probably going to ruin this happy oasis of fun and games that Lebanon has been, sort of like the Las Vegas  or Paris of the Middle East.

Hezbollah has been acting as if they are the great provider for their country, the protector. That seems to be how the public is viewing them.

When asked in a TV program last night what their greatest problem is right now, a representative of Lebanon's programming  said it was ISIS.   Once they solve that problem, they can fact the Israeli problem, he inferred.  Evidently he'd be happier if Israel were out of the way, too.

Last night CNN's Anthony Bourdain, Parts Unknown, featured his 3rd trip to Beirut called Back To Beirut,  and as a chef, showed different scenes of Anthony eating lovely food there.  In one scene they spoke with an educated English speaking Syrian refugee telling about their horrid living conditions and the next scene was in a gorgeous American style kitchen and dining room eating enough food for any army that looked scrumptious.  What caught my eye was the picture on the living-room wall of Nasrallah, and his comment about doing without Israel later.  An interview of a young Syrian lady refugee asked her what would happen to her when her visa was up, which was in a few months, and she didn't know.  She feared she'd have to return to Syria and die there.  I have a friend in Damascus.  I am worried about him and his family as well.

Here Israel is taking care of  many Syrian refugees'  bodily injuries and the general population is following their leaders'  detestable attitude towards Israel.  It was Lebanon's Christian Militia led by Major Hadad in the 80's when they were pretty good friends with the Lebanese Christians.  .

Israel warned and warned and warned Gaza civilians of their coming to attack the terrorists who had attacked them, but it did no good.  They had used text messages and phone announcements and still they didn't move.  This enemy's immorality kept them in full view of impending attacks and in harm's way.

Lebanon Shooting Rockets into Northern Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

Sunday morning, which is a good 10 hours ahead of USA time, was the time when Lebanon terrorists shot 2 rockets almost reaching Kiryat Shimona that landed west of this town housing a department store similar to the USA's Macy's.  When I lived in Safed from 1980-1985, we would drive up there which is quite close to the Lebanon border to shop. This town had been hit many times.  It had been attacked by rockets so many times  that our friend from the Teacher's Program, who had gone there to visit, wound up stuck in a bomb shelter for about a week and was unable to leave during that time.  Many Westerners live in Kiryat Shimona.

Now this morning by Israel time, 5 rockets were shot at Israel from this northern state of Lebanon and one landed in Israel.  Usually all the attacks have been coming from Gaza into southern Israel.  It is a sad thing to see this starting up from Lebanon once again.

Israel retaliated as warned the same day.

Rumor From Kuwait About Missile Attack

Nadene Goldfoot

Rumor has it that Israeli jets hit Hezbollah's shipment of advanced missiles that were in a convoy.  The occurrence supposedly happened along the Syrian-Lebanese border.  This was reported about yesterday by Al Jareeda Newspaper from Kuwait.

The story is that on Monday the 21st (here on the West Coast of the USA) the jets attacked the missiles' shipment.  Lebanon evidently had reported that Israeli jets were in its airspace.  Nothing has been confirmed.

Israel should be watching, nevertheless.  Having such a shipment by people who want to destroy Israel and its people just cannot happen.  Israel is doing its best to protect the lives of its citizens.  It's on the job 24 hours a day in detecting such movements.

The best offense is defense, and this is what  Israel is doing;  defending itself.  She's in a very tough neighborhood.

Lebanese Rockets: A Threat From Hezbollah For Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

From Lebanon comes the threat by Hezbollah that they have 200,000 long-range rockets pointed at Israel that can hit any spot in the tiny country.  I believe Israel has known about this for some time, now and is ready in case any are shot into their country.

Evidently this is all Lebanon's elite are concerned about doing, killing Jews.  Do they care about what their people need and would like to have improved?   Have the people of Lebanon forgotten what it was like to live in a free society?  A citizen there is not really living.  They are existing in some kind of police state where the police are not in control anymore.

This small state of only 4,196,453 north of Israel has been overrun and occupied by Muslim invaders, not the Jews.    Once a state with 60% Muslims, the Christians have been beaten down by a combination of Sunni and Shi'a Muslims.

Sunday:Israel's Neighbors in Devastation: Sunni-Shi'a Battle Involving Hezbollah in Lebanon-Assad of Syria

Nadene Goldfoot

The neighbors of Israel are having a power war involving the two divisions of Islam, Sunni and Shi'a.  Hezbollah terrorists have openly said that they are fighting with President Assad's forces against his own Syrians who have rebelled against his regime.  President Bashar Assad belongs to the Alawite sect of Islam which is an offshoot of Shiite Islam.  The Syrian rebels are Sunnis. Hezbollah terrorism is Shi'ia.  Iran backs Shi'a and Russia backs them as well.  Syria is the 17th largest Muslim majority country in the world with over 22 million Sunni and Shi'a mixed Muslim population following the Hanafa or Alevi fiqhs.

Assad, after much precious time has been wasted, has finally said he is allowing UN investigators into Syria to investigate allegations of chemical warfare, at least 4 days after the fact.  All that the inspectors really should do is talk to the "Doctors Without Borders" who have treated within 3 hours about 3,600 patients since the onset on Wednesday morning in their 3 clinics  of which 54 children, 82 women-322 in all have died.  This includes rebel fighters as well.  The doctors had treated these people for breathing problems, dilated pupils, convulsions, foaming at the mouth and blurred vision.  Even some of the medics had the symptoms of which 1 has died.  What was the cause?  The doctors say it is a neurotoxic agent.  The 3 centers who reported these findings were medical centers near the site of the suspected chemical weapons attack near Damascus.

Syria's government is in denial about using these chemicals, but TV news over NBC has statements saying that Assad has reacted violently because of an attempted attack on him.  He is saying that his soldiers had found chemical supplies in places that had been taken by rebel forces.  Russia, Syria's backer,  thinks the rebels used chemicals and others think that Assad's enemies have the supplies or the ability to get them. Even some US officials  feel that Assad's forces had used chemical weapons on a small scale many times already in this past year.  It's said that the US is still trying to gather information to find out just what had happened.

This power war has spread into Lebanon where in Tripoli, a Sunni city, 2 mosques, Taqwa and Salam,  were attacked on Friday at noon.  This is looked at as a revenge attack between Sunni and Shi'a..  The results are that more than 500 were injured of which 300 are still in hospital, 65 in critical care. 47 or more have died from the double bombing.

The scene was devastating with bodies scattered beside burning cars, smoking vehicles with charred people trapped inside, bloodied injured coming out of thick black smoke and people all shouting and screaming while rushing the victims away towards waiting help.

The effect on the Lebanese on Israel's northern border, a small state of about 4,196,453 with 60% Muslim population made up of Sunni and Shi'a, who used to have a Christian government that was ousted,  has caused civilians to arm themselves and set up checkpoints by Saturday near the mosques hit while their security forces patrolled the streets.  Recently, there have also been small-scale clashes like Iraq-style car bombings.  One occurred over a week ago in the Shiite district south of Beirut which is controlled by Hezbollah and killed 27 people.

The USA said Saturday that US intelligence agencies are trying to gather facts to decide what happened in Syria.  Their navy is prepared to act with destroyers carrying long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles the likes of which were also used in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya.

In the meantime, Tunisians demonstrated on Saturday calling for the resignation of their Islamist-led government.  They called out,"We tried you, you failed, now leave,"  This is a first in their "week of departure" for the government.  Tunisia, with a population of about 10,383,577 of which 98% are Sunni Muslims, has an educated middle-class population and is thought to have the best chance of becoming a working democracy-especially since Egypt has turned the tables on their Muslim Brotherhood president.

As for the over 91 million of Egypt, the military government has had to shorten their imposed night-time curfew to bring about stability from all their unrest at reacting to the ousting of the head of the Muslim Brotherhood, Morsi, as their president elected.  Their Arab Spring was short-lived, overcome by the storm brought in by Morsi.  Fridays would maintain the length of the curfew, though.  Having such a curfew is hard on shoppers and hurts Cairo's bustling night life and revenue for the businesses, hotels and restaurants.  Cairo alone has 18 million people.  The military is going after the Brotherhood's top and mid-level opponents and are the ones committing acts of terrorism, shown by the recent attacks on churches and government buildings.  The Muslim Brotherhood had been ousted by Sadat, and only recently came into power by ousting Mubarak in their "Arab Spring." "Arrests and killings appear to have weakened the Brotherhood's ability to mobilize its following."

And what seems to be the most prevalent problem in the Middle East?  Israel building a few apartment buildings in territory the Palestinians are drooling to take over which also holds Israeli citizens as well; thus the fight over territory; the ancient original  Jewish Israel (Samaria) and Judah and Jerusalem which the Arabs covet.

Why Hezbollah (Party of God) Must Not Get Russian Shipments of Jets or Missiles

Nadene Goldfoot

Hezbollah, founded in 1982 by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, is located in Southern Lebanon but established by Iran.  They are next door neighbors to Syria.

This Shi'a Islamic fundamentalist terrorist group have expansionist goals of establishing an Islamic  state across the Arab world, eliminate Israel and fight Western "Imperialism."

They are responsible for all sorts of terrorist activities:

1. Shootings, rocket attacks, bombings, kidnappings, and suicide bombings.
2. 241 US marines were killed by suicide bombers driving a truck.
3. Bombing of US marine barracks and embassy in Beirut, 1983.
4. Beheading US CIA Chief, William Buckley, in Beirut, 1985
5. 29 killed in bombing of Israeli Embassy, Buenos Aires, 1992.
6. 96 killed in bombing of Israeli Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, 1994
7. 813 terrorist attacks, 1990-1995
8. 3 Israeli border guards kidnapped and murdered in 2000.
9. 183 terrorist attacks from May 2000 to May 2004.
10. Initiated a war across internationally recognized border of Israel by kidnapping 2 Israeli soldiers and killing 8 and shelling northern Israeli towns in 2006.

11.  Supports Palestinian terrorist groups.
      a. Set up cells in Judea-Samaria and Gaza.
     b. Continuously attacked across the Israel/Lebanon border

The rebels in the civil war in Syria do not want the government of Syria to get the shipment of missiles and jets from Russia that are due to arrive. Nine hours ago the Syrian rebels and Hezbollah, who is fighting on the side of the Syrian government,  exchanged fire in Lebanon.  About 15 were killed inside Lebanon near Baalbek of which only one was a Hezbolla terrorist.  "Thousands of civilians are believed to be trapped as pro-government forces - including Hezbollah fighters - battle rebels."  Meanwhile the Red Cross is mired in another city, Qusair,  that is being attacked.

Lebanese Israel-Hating Hezbollah Terrorists in Syria Fighting With Assad

Nadene Goldfoot
Today's headline in the Oregonian of Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, saying he will fight for Syria's Assad,  is reminiscent of what I wrote in 2008.  This group of terrorists promises to fight for President Bashar Assad in his bloody civil war.  Their warning is that if Damascus falls, the extremists will plunge the Middle East into a "dark place."  I think it's already in that dark place and the extremists are plentiful, coming in all sorts of names such as rebels and Hezbollah.  They say they are fighting against Islamic radicals who pose a danger to Lebanon.  If this is so, what on earth do they think that they are if not the same? 80,000 Syrian citizens have already been killed in this civil war of 2 years.

They are guarding the areas along the Lebanese border and promises that they will turn the tide of the conflict in Assad's favor.

The Syrian government troops are backed by Hezbollah and have been fighting in Qusair.  These are Lebanese Shiite groups that are fighting with Assad.  They shelled this town in trying to make the rebels leave.  Saturday 30 people, of which 27 were the rebels, were killed and dozens were wounded in this town which has strategic importance for both groups.

Hezbollah's main goal is to eliminate Israel.  "Hezbollah's 1985 manifesto listed its four main goals as "Israel's final departure from Lebanon as a prelude to its final obliteration", ending "any imperialist power in Lebanon", submission of the Phalangists to "just rule" and bringing them to trial for their crimes, and giving the people the chance to choose "with full freedom the system of government they want", while not hiding its commitment to the rule of Islam.  Hezbollah leaders have also made numerous statements calling for the destruction of the state of Israel, which they refer to as the "Zionist entity". Hezbollah is financed by Syria and Iran.

Palestinian terrorists had been camped in Lebanon that had been shelling northern Israel.  I was in Safed during the 1982 Lebanon War when Sharon let Major Hadad go in to fight the terrorists.  They didn't exactly fight against them.  Evidently it turned out to be much worse, like a slaughter.  Both Hadad and Sharon were in a lot of  trouble for that.  In defense, it wasn't Hadad or Sharon who started the problem.  Northern Israel had been shelled constantly and people were living in the bomb shelters.  The terrorists'  own aggression put them in harm's way.

Ancient Foes-Still Adversaries Today: Syria and Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

Syria is planning to get even with Israel's strikes on Damascus's shipments of advanced Iranian missiles bound for Hezbollah terrorists last Friday and Sunday.  They've said that they are going to give Hezbollah  strategic weapons it never had before that are "game-changing."  On the map above, Israel is in the bottom left hand corner in gray.  We can just see the northern part.

Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah has exchanged threats over the past months with Israel.  They have tens of thousands of rockets.  Most of them are the unguided type but the shipments that Israel hit last week included precision- guided missiles.  Nasrallah said "they can strike anywhere in Israel."  That means they are the long range type.   Hezbollah is one of the groups trying to wipe out Israel and drive her into the sea.

Nasrallah hasn't been out in public since the 2006 war that lasted 34 days.  It left 1,200 Lebanese and 160 Israelis dead.  Of course, one must remember that Syria's population was 22,505,000 and Israel's was 6 million. about 4:1. They don't mind wasting their soldiers while Israel has a different morality.   Nasrallah fears he'll be a target so he's laying low.

After this threat from Nasrallah, Israel's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Yigal Palmor responded by saying that "We don't respond to words.  We respond to action."  Israel has warned Syria many times that their air force would strike against any shipments of strategic missiles that might be bound for Hezbollah.

As part of Israel's defense, they have asked Russia to cancel a sale of advanced air defense system to Syria. The deal is  providing the S-300 anti-aircraft missiles.  Kerry said it would a destabilizing factor for Israel's security.

Syria has been a part of every war against Israel since 1948.  By hitting the shipment for Hezbollah, Israel actually helped out the rebels.  Hezbollah and Iran are deeply involved in Syria's civil war by supplying troops and military advisers for Assad.  Israel didn't want to get involved but cannot afford to stand by and see a terrorist group created to take down Israel be armed with such dangerous weapons.

Ever since the 20th century BCE, the Assyrians, also a Semitic people, were aggressive and expanded in the 13th and 10th centuries.  Israel's King David and Solomon had to fight against the Aramean states in Mesopotamia and Syria probably helped. In 732 BCE, Jerusalem became a vassal of the Neo-Assyrian Empire.   By 721 BCE, Assyria's  Sargon held a siege of Samaria (capital of Israel) and captured it  He then deported 27,290 Israelites to Assyria and Media and replaced them with Syrian and Babylonian prisoners.

Actually Syria of today was called Aram, land of the Arameans in the Bible. According to the Bible, they had a common ancestry with the Israelite patriarchs who were also of Aramaic origin and maintained ties of marriage with the tribes of Aram.   Their kings just couldn't create a homogeneous state.  The coast was settled by the Phoenicians and there was constant friction with Israel and the 2nd state of Judah until the 8th century BCE when Syria was overrun by the Assyrians. The principal Aramean deity in Syria was Hadad, god of the wind, rain, thunder and lightning.

There has been a Jewish population in Syria at Antioch who suffered from the hostility of the Greeks.  The Arab Muslim Conquest of 634-37 actually made their life better as they were allowed to maintain their faith but had to a pay poll-tax as they were classified as 2nd class citizens or dhimmis.  Aleppo had the biggest Jewish population of 5,000.  There were 3,000 in Damascus and 2,000 in Palmyra.  They increased after 1492 with the Spanish Inquisition.  In 1943 there were 30,000 Jews in Syria.  Anti-Semitism ran rampant.  ever since 1948.  It's extremism was mainly responsible for the Six Day War of 1967.  Israel defeated the Syrian army and took the Golan Heights where they had been bombarding down on Israel settlements.

Today Syria's forces attacked rebel positions in Aleppo and Idlib in the north.  Their warplanes hit rebels near the military air base outside Aleppo, called Mannagh.  Several rockets landed in Lebanon.  Turkey is testing injured Syrian rebels for chemical warfare wounds.  They have about 12 injured and will have the results soon.   Iran, who is the leader of this defense of Assad,  has built a new radar-evading drone which can fly at high altitudes.

Israel Downs Drone From Lebanon

IAF F16 knocks out possible Hizboula drone. They're there for Israelis 24/7.
Nadene Goldfoot
Israel was able to shoot down a drone on Thursday as it came in from the north, Lebanon, which is on the northern border of Israel.

It is thought that the Hezbollah militant groups was behind this attempt to infiltrate.  Of course Hezbollah denies this.  Hezbollah is a Shiite militant group trying to take advantage of the civil war going on in neighboring Syria.

A spokesman from Israel's  IDF  said that an F-16 warplane shot down the drone.  The drone was smashed into the sea about 5 miles from Haifa, Israel's northern port.  Israeli naval forces have been searching for the wreckage.

Lebanon has been made up of a mixed population of which 60% had been Muslims of Sunnis and Shi'a following Hanafi and Jafari fiqhs.  Christians had been the ruling party even though they were a minority until the end of the 20th century, but not today.  It is a small country with only about 4,196,453 population in all.

Major Hadad of Lebanon was a good friend of Israel.  His troops used to patrol the border between Lebanon and Syria in order to prevent terrorism.  He would come into our army hospital in Haifa for his R and R.  His men attacked a PLO group of terrorists in 1982 in retribution and got themselves and Israel in trouble for it, as our general had allowed them to enter the area.  Now the terrorism out of Lebanon isn't even necessarily Lebanese home grown but a neighboring faction and comes from the sky as well. Syria is under the umbrella of Shiite Iran who hates Israel.   Thank goodness for F-16's for defense.

Israel Hit Convoy of Missiles Headed for Shelling Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
NBC TV news just reported that Israel's jets almost flew as far as Damascus today and bombed a convoy of huge missiles waiting to be used against Israel.  They may have even carried chemicals in the nose.  The missiles were shown on the report.  To my eyes they were huge.

Israel National News reported that the Syrian army has accused Israel of launching a dawn strike with fighter jets  and hitting a military research centre in Jamraya, near Damascus.   This center, they said, is in charge of raising their level of resistance and self-defense.  That's jibberish for the missiles that Iran wants aimed at and used against Israel by Hizbollah..

Evidently they are saying that Israel had damaged the building when we know it was the whole convoy of missiles.  They are denying the reports that the convoy was from  near the border with Lebanon.   The USA is not commenting, either.  Israel's military intelligence chief is Aviv Kochave who is in Washington to talk with General Martin Dempsey.   Jay Carney from the White House is passing any questions and giving them to Israel.  Reports earlier said the convoy was carrying Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles.  That could be, but they come from Iran.

A report that has come in from last Friday, the day of Israel's elections, was that Fordow, the atomic plant in Iran, had had an explosion.  Iran has been denying that also.  Israel has been announcing this event.  Afterwards, "A request was made to [Hezbollah chief Hassan] Nasrallah to vacate southern Lebanese villages.
Islamic Republic Guards are on their way there. A decision has been made to prepare for missile launch from a certain area in Lebanon against Israel,” he said."  I believe this has been what's been going on. The convoy went  from Lebanon to Syria.
Whatever caused the Fordow explosion is not known.  Everyone except Israel has been denying the event.  Whoever or whatever the cause is, is a blessing as it must set back Iran's plans to make an A bomb to use against Israel.  We just had a 3.7 earthquake where I live.  It could even have been an earthquake way under the mountain where Fordow is.  We'll never know.  The story is that the elevator and stairs are in shambles and that several hundred people are trapped inside.  Smoke has been seen coming from the area.

Amazing Facts About Qaradawi, Qatar and Palestinian Leaders

Hamas took over Gaza's rule in 2007.  Khaled Meshal is their leader, but the spokesman for the Palestinians has been Fatah's leader, Mahmoud Abbas from Judea-Samaria (West Bank). They have joined together and are both very strong against Israel.

Both Meshal and Abbas have been living in Qatar.  In the mid-1950s, Abbas became heavily involved in underground Palestinian politics, joining a number of exiled Palestinians in Qatar, where he was Director of Personnel in the emirate's Civil Service."  "The eldest son of Mahmoud, Mazen Abbas, ran a building company in Doha and died in Qatar of a heart attack in 2002 at the age of 42.

Not surprisingly, Khaled Meshal has had a house in Qatar for many years and has been seen in the capital, Doha since Hamas organizers were forced to leave Syria in early 2012.  What happened was that Meshal had been living in Damascus but when Syria wanted to have some indirect peace talks with Israel, Meshal objected.  The result was that Syria asked him to leave.  Meshal then went to Sudan.  Meshal had been living in Syria because he had been kicked out of Jordan 10 years prior.

Qatar's Emir Hamad bin Khalifah Al Thani just visited Gaza and made the the gift of $400 million.  Immediately, the effect of that gift has been a bombardment rocket attack on Israel.  By visiting Gaza, he has in effect put an end to any chance of peace agreements between the Hamas-Fatah union and Israel.  Now Abbas is game enough to go to the UN on the 15th or 29th of this month to ask for recognition.  He's doing so against the advice of the USA and of course, Israel.  He's liable to lose their money, but who needs it when he as Qatar behind him.

Gaza had been fortified with money from Syria, who are a mixture of Sunnis and Shi'as and who are an extension of Iranian Shi'a Muslims.  In fact, it was Iran's money which was going to Hamas.  Hamas stopped supporting Syria, so Iran stopped supporting Gaza.  That's where Qatar stepped  in.

Iran's terrorist group is Hezbollah,  Shi'as who plot and scheme out of Lebanon. They were trained by Iranian Revolutionary Guards. So Lebanon is really an arm of Iran, just like Syria.

Abbas, who represents Judea-Samaria (West Bank) , is a little grumpy about Meshal's strong connection with Qatar saying, "no one should deal with Gaza as a separate entity from the Palestinian territories and from the Palestinian Authority", which he represents.

Qatar is supporting the rebels in Syria. Qatar also are the power-people in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. Qatar  houses Qaradawi, the Egyptian religious leader who leads the Muslim Brotherhood.   Syria's President Bashar al-Assad is supported by Iran. So Qatar and Syria are now at odds.

The relationship of the Arab countries is not all sweetness and light.  Sunnis and Shi'as fight like enemies when is suits them though both are Muslims.

Qatar(Sunni)  with a population of only 744,029 is taking on Iran (Shi'a) with a population of 76,923,300.  Qatar follows the  Hanbali fiqh of Sharia law while Iran follows the Jafari fiqh.  Qatar has been buttering up the USA while Iran only ignores the USA and is contemptuous.  Qatar and Iran share the world's largest gas field which is why Qatar has so much money.  Iran stooped low and starting attacking and stealing equipment from Qatari gas rigs.  They pretend to be nice to each other but Qatar is making Iran mad.  What will the outcome be here?  Qatar houses Qaradawi, the Egyptian religious leader who leads the Muslim Brotherhood.   Iran has the Ayatolla Khomeini.  I see a brawl over not only oil power but religious power as well.  Both Qatar and Iran want all Jews dead according to their respective leaders, Qaradawi and Ahmadinejad.  .

This gets so convoluted.  Here is the line up of countries involved and the oil they produce and keep in reserve.  .

1. Iran -Shi'a-  2nd largest oil reserve  136.3 billions of barrels
2. Iraq-Shi'a and Sunni-3rd larges oil reserve  115.0 billions of barrels
3. Syria-Shi'a and Sunni- 15th largest oil reserve  2.5 billions of barrels
4. Lebanon-Shi'a and Sunni- no oil
5. Qatar-Sunni- 8th largest oil reserve 15.2 billions of barrels
6. Eygpt-Sunni- 13th largest oil reserve  3.7 billions of barrels
7. Sudan-Sunni-12th largest oil reserve  5.0 billions of barrels
8. Saudi Arabia-Sunni  Has the most oil 262.3 billions of barrels in reserve
9. Libya-Sunni- 6th largest oil reserve 41.5 billions of barrels
10. Jordan-Sunni- no oil
11. Israel-Jewish-no oil  -oil found, may be in production by next year.

The result is that these two Palestinian leaders have spent much time living in Qatar.  The larger neighboring countries have been pouring money into Gaza to gain power.

Drone Over Israel Downed: Possible Hezbollah-Iran Financed Terrorism

Nadene Goldfoot
A drone, possibly from the Lebanese Islamic militant group, Hezbollah, was sited over Israel on Saturday.  Israeli fighter jets shot it down.  That was the first time in the past 6 years that a hostile aircraft got into Israel's airspace.

Hezbollah is backed by Iran.  they are known to have sent drones over Israel before.  Right now Iran and Israel are at odds over the Iranians creating uranium to service A bombs which would be used on Israel.  Iran has threatened Israel saying they are going to destroy her and drive her into the sea and other nasty expletives.  After calling Israel every horrible name imagined and then some, they have the audacity to say that their program is for peaceful reasons only like medicine.

At the same time, Iran is having to deal with their very angry citizens who find the value of their money is shrinking quickly.  Iran is trying to placate international concerns over their nuclear program which has brought about restrictions on Iran and is starting to hurt them.  They say they have converted more than 1/3 of their most enriched uranium into a powder for a medical research reactor.  They say that this stuff would be hard to reprocess to make atomic weapons.  The goal for them now is to restart nuclear talks with the world powers and soften demands by the US and others to stop their top-level uranium enrichment.

The USA and allies want them to stop the 20% production and ship the rest outside the country.  Iran is adamant that they will never give up the capacity for this enrichment program.  Sanctions need to continue and the Iranians need to keep being vocal about their situation in order to change Tehran's leadership to finally make a deal.

Iran has almost 419 pounds of 20% enriched uranium produced.  They have made U308-uranium oxide from 157 pounds of it.  Experts say that it's not good material for making weapons.  Just how much of it do they need for medical research?  We're talking about the remainder of the 262 pounds they have ready to go into death dealing atomic weaponry.

Muslim Brotherhood Instigating End of Peace: Israel and Jordan

Nadene Goldfoot
The Muslim Brotherhood is carrying out it's goals from their charter.  They are disrupting the peace between the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan and Israel.  On Friday they organized a rally to end the July 1994 peace treaty  that was signed by Shimon Peres and Jordan's PM, Abdelsalam al-Majali.  They now want to kick out Israel's ambassador.

Getting to that peace treaty cost the USA 18.3 billion dollars which Abdelsalam declared was to bring an end to the age of wars and Peres had declared that the moment of peace had arrived.  Even Egypt had welcomed the agreement and Syria just played it cool by ignoring it.  As part of the agreement, Israel established a modern medical center in Amman.

The Hezbollah of Lebanon obviously was unhappy about it and showed their anger by launching mortar and rocket attacks into the northern Galilee towns where I used to live just 20 minutes before the ceremony.  This had been a historical event of Israel;  signing a 2nd peace treaty with an Arab state.

Then they were able to open their borders by  building several border-crossings for tourists, merchants and workers to travel between.  Israeli tourists visited Jordan, enjoying Petra, a stone-carved Nabatean city which is famous.

Jordanians had been coming into Israel to work daily.  Since 1967, when Jordan attacked Israel along with all their friends and lost, resulting in losing the "West Bank" which they had held illegally since 1948, Israel maintained an OPEN BRIDGES policy with Jordan.  This allowed Arabs from Judea and Samaria to travel to neighboring Arab countries and continue to maintain family ties and for business and education.  Arabs from the West Bank were allowed since 1971 to visit Israel without permits.  Israel encouraged coexistence.

It hadn't been easy because between June 1967 and September 1970 the Jordanian army and Palestinian terrorists worked together to harass Israel.  They shelled Israeli villages in the Jordan Valley and terrorist groups were infiltrating and attacking Israelis.

In September 1970 Civil War occurred in Jordan when the Jordanian army crushed the Palestinian terrorist organization.  Jordan wound up becoming populated by many Palestinians with the King marrying one. They had their BLACK SEPTEMBER when the PLO  threatened to overthrow King Hussein.  Almost 3,400 Palestinians were killed  between the 16th and the 26th, 1970.  PLO members actually fled across the border to surrender to Israeli troops instead of Hussein's army.

Many feel that Jordan is Palestine being so many live there.  King Husayn had said that "there should be the separation of the West Bank from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.  Likud, a major political party in Israel has said over and over that Jordan is Palestine.

The rallies were in 7 cities where people burned Israeli and American flags and chanted, "death, death to Israel," and "the people want an end to Wadi Araba which is the Jordan-Israel peace treaty.

The Westernized King Abdullah II had recently appointed Fayez Tarrawneh as prime minister who was a man who served in this capacity briefly in the late 1990s and was a key figure in making peace with Israel.  He is a man who would still support the 1994 treaty and the people are rebelling now with the teachings  of the Muslim Brotherhood.

They are saying that this rational man is not respecting the Jordanian's wish to end all peace, calls the Muslim Brotherhood, a group our government mistakenly thinks is "moderate,"  This should be proof that they are radical and dangerous.

The Brotherhood's propaganda is that Israel has not followed through with obligations under the treaty like in water sharing.  They're noting Amman's custodianship over holy sites in Jerusalem and access to the Palestinian territories, meaning Jordanians wanting to gain free access into Judea, Samaria, maybe parts of the Golan and East Jerusalem.

Jordan, with  a population of 5,568,565 people of which 95% are Sunni Muslims, hopefully has strong leaders that can squelch such war mongers that are trying to end an 18 year old peace treaty.  The Muslim Brotherhood is doing the very same thing in Egypt by having Mubakak jailed after he and Sadat had kept them down and illegal.  Can people still say that they are moderate and harmless now?

Israel Should Fight Rockets With Tennis Balls?

Nadene Goldfoot
Lebanon fired 4 rockets on Israel last week most likely by Hezb'allah, the Iranian proxy.  Israel provoked them by firing back.  The terrorists, being the bullies that they are, have screamed "NO FAIR"!

Lebanon has actually filed a UN complaint on Monday saying that the tiny Jewish state can't respond with artillery shells, saying this is in violation of UNSC Resolution 1701.  They figure it's okay to fire on Israel, which is an act of war, but that Israel can never respond.

Israel's self defense is a violation of Resolution 1701 and international law?  Lebanon's terrorists are trying to set a precedent in the UN that any response from Israel will be met with world condemnation.  It seemed to work with Goldstone, who finally changed his judgement,  so they're trying it again. " Under international law, Resolutions 1701 is at best a declarative statement of sentiment that lacks legal authority or enforcement power whatsoever . The recommendations spelled-out in the resolution can not be imposed on the parties concerned."

As for 1701, John Bolton was questioned and said that Hezb'Allah needs to be disarmed.  That was laid out and hasn't been accomplished.  Islamic supremacists have not met any of the conditions of 1701, so this is outrageous to attack Israel with impunity to get Israel to respond.  Their objective is to make Israel one big death camp, evidently.

You know bullies.
"No, Ma, who, me?  I didn't do it.  Aw, I just fired one little rocket into Israel.  Those meanies!  They fired 6 back at us!  They scared us!  Boo hoo!  You go get them, Ma."

Bullies never seem to tell the truth.  They fired 4 and the IDF pounded the launch sites with artillery shells.  The UN force called for restraint from both sides.  An organization associated with al-Qaida claimed responsibility for firing the rockets.  Israel holds Lebanon's government responsible for the attacks and expects them to keep the peace.

Iran's Missile Threat To America
Nadene Goldfoot
Today it's not just Israel that could be hit in a missile attack from Iran.  The U.S. troops and other U.S. allies are also at risk.  Iran has ballistic missiles that are capable of carrying nuclear or chemical warheads 1,500 miles.  Tehran is developing missiles that could reach the USA.  Countries that underestimate a dangerous country are at risk.

Iran is in competition with Saudi Arabia and Turkey in gaining power in the Muslim world.  Turkey is a neighbor of Iran and Syria.  Years ago in the 80's Iran was fighting against Iraq, another neighbor, but that has been attacked and almost disarmed by the USA due to 9/11.

Lebanon is a small country that is a neighbor both of Israel, Syria and Turkey, but under domination of Syria.  The Hizballah terrorists come out of Lebanon and have more than 55,000 rockets along Israel's border that can reach almost all of Israel's major population centers.  They have Katyusha rockets with a range of 12 miles and longer range ones that reach out 24 miles.  the Fajr-3 has a range of 28 miles and the Fajr-5/Syrian reaches 45 miles.  Considering places of Israel are 9 miles wide, this is a lot.  One rocket recently overshot and went into Jordan and killed an Arab there, injuring another.  They have rockets with the capacity to go 130 miles and 155 miles.

Since 2005 there have been 7,000 rocket attacks against Israel.  Palestinian terrorists took control of Gaza in 2007.   Hamas has been in control and the Strip is used to launch thousands of attacks against Israel.  Northern Gaza is used to fire rockets at Israeli towns and cities.  Sderot has been attacked constantlly and now Ashkelon is in danger.  Massive amounts of weapons are smuggled in by sea routes and tunnels.  They also use these tunnels to infiltrate into Israel and carry out attacks.  They are the goal of Israeli air attacks after Israel has been hit.

The Arab nations outnumber Israel more than 650 to 1 in land and 56 to 1 in population.  Israel has been threatened many times by Iran.  Egypt, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Jordan are in revolution where the Muslim Brotherhood is the most organized and dangerous group that is ready to take over. Iran's revolution failed.    Their citizens are rising up against their dictator leaders who have created enemies with lies to keep their people repressed.  Chances are slim for them to become democracies but face the possibility that they  will be dominated by Sharia law which includes hatred and destruction of Israel and the United States.  Egypt and Israel signed a peace treaty in 1979.  Now that peace is shaky with a new group taking over who may not honor this.  32 years of peace has been good for Egypt as well as for Israel.

Palestinians must not seek and receive statehood now without negotiating with Israel. New sanctions have to be passed on Iran.  Security assistance has to be maintained with Israel in order to help with their Iron Dome missile defense system.  This is not the time to give up and appear weak.

Egypt has 220 F-16s.  Saudi Arabia has hundreds of the most sophisticated combat aircraft.  They plan on spending $60 billion on more aircraft.  Turkey has the 3rd largest air force in NATO with the US and UK leading.  They plan on buying 100 of the most advanced American fighter jets, the F-35.  Israel can only afford 25.  What is sad to me is that the USA will most likely sell these weapons to them for the sake of the economy.  This is why Israel needs support.  Somebody is in the business of producing these weapons and Israel must remain strong.

Brainwashed Palestinians

Nadene Goldfoot
There is a daily quiz program coming from the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon and Syria that ask contestants to name 5 cities found in Palestine.  The winners get $100 for a prize.  They are naming  cities such as Jaffa, Haifa, Acre, Ramle, Safed, Nablus and Lod.   Only one of these cities is in so called "Palestine."  All the rest are in the 8,000 square miles that makes up Israel.

The Palestinian leaders in telling such lies probably have started to believe it themselves.  Certainly the average Palestinian is being guarded from the truth of the history of their people and of the Jewish people.  They turn to such savage behavior as the slaughter of the Fogal family in Itamar from being fed so many lies.  We cannot expect a nation to want peace with Israel under these circumstances.  The nations that are accepting Palestine's creation now without any provisions have  a blind eye and a heart that is necrotic and who obviously have dumped truth.

I think it a little weird to find that Palestinians are still living in places called refugee camps in fellow Arab lands after 63 years of the establishment of Israel.  They are being kept there to ferment their hatred and to be used as pawns against Israel.  They are not citizens of these countries so are without rights.  If they are still listed as refugees they are on the dole from the United Nations and do not work.  Thus it is the United Nations that are continuing an Apartheid situation.  How ironic it is that they are the first to accuse Israel of Apartheid behavior when it is Israel who has tried everything to get these people to work and live in peace.

Nablus is the only Palestinian city.  Judea is to the south of it.  It is 26 miles east of Tel Aviv and 39 miles north of Jerusalem.
1980-1985: I lived in Haifa for 10 months and then moved to Safed and lived there for almost 5 years.  I visited Acre to see where my 3rd cousin, Stanley Goldfoot had been  imprisoned by the British.
History of the Palestinians: Try reading -From Time Immemorial-the origins of the Arab-Jewish Conflict Over Palestine by Joan Peters....It's a book Noam Chomsky refuses to recognize.
3/22/11: from Victor Sharpe: Actually Nablus is the ancient Jewish city of Shechem, which was where the Arc once rested. In Roman times, it was called Neapolis, which in time became Arabized into Nablus. But the only city the Arabs ever founded in the geographical territory known as Palestine was Lydda near present day Ben Gurion airport. Nablus, therefore, is not a Palestinian Arab city.

Israel, Scapegoat of Middle East, Blamed Again

Nadene Goldfoot

Lebanon, Israel neighbor to the north, just experienced its year old unity government collapse. The cause was Hezbollah's ministers and allies resigning. Why seems to be because a U.N. Netherlands-based tribunal is investigating the 2005 assassination of the former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran and Syria, denounced the investigating tribunal as an Israeli project. That's a pretty wild accusation considering the U.N. is mostly run by Muslim countries and Israel is constantly at fault, according to them.

Just recently Israel was blamed for sending "Moses, the "Mossad" vulture" to Saudi Arabia to spy. The poor vulture was wearing a tracking device on his leg that aids endangered species, and Israel was studying the movements of vultures for science. Bandar bin Saud, the Saudi nature authority finally admitted that there was no truth that the bird was linked to espionage, only misunderstanding about the tracking device. He even admitted that Saudi Arabia uses one similar to follow rare birds.

Lebanon's government fell while Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the son of the slain leader was consulting with Obama in Washington. His father had been assassinated in a suicide bombing that killed 22 other people. He was a Sunni Muslim, a hero to his community. He was even backed by many Christians who liked his efforts to reduce Syrian influences in Lebanon.

I remember living in Israel when in 1982 Sharon let Major Hadad, a Christian Lebanese leader and friend of Israel, have the lead in going into the camps of the PLO in Lebanon with his men. They had been firing Katusha rockets into Israel from there. Just before we had moved into our apartment in Safed, we passed by an apartment building that had had a katusha rocket fall in the rear of it. That fact was my introduction to Safed in 1981.
It turned out to be a bloody and quiet attack. Christians were the minority then but the leaders in the government. It was the Muslims who were attacking Israel and Hadad was great about keeping them from our border. Israel later had to initiate "Operation Grapes of Wrath in April 1996 because of the attacks coming from Lebanon. The Hezbollah were terrorists, following Ayatollah Khomeini, and attacking not only Israel but any Western influences.
Things seem to have fallen apart since Syria has taken over so much. It was hard enough when Lebanon was divided religiously, but it was working better than today with Syria's influence. Now we have had no protection from northern terrorism. So finally, the UN is investigating a six year old assassination, a cold-case, you might say. This has upset the Hezbollah faction so much that they shut down the government. Yes, things are not going smoothly in 2011.

2006: Second Lebanon War in Israel

Ahmadinejad's Visit to Lebanon

by Nadene Goldfoot

We've had several wars with Lebanon over the years. 1978 saw one war. We moved to Israel in 1980. I hadn't realized that there had been a war with Lebanon when we moved to Safed, which is quite close to the border with Lebanon. I was in Safed during the war in June 1982. "June 15, 1982: We were naturally happy that the PLO have been run out and had been worried about the arms and weapons that were coming in from them right across our border. It's time something was done about it. The U.N. and others were not doing anything about it. We never dreamt they would do as much as they did. Everyone is very upset about the casualties on both sides, but Lebanon seems to be very happy, and Major Hadad, the Christian Lebanese leader in Lebanon is very happy. In fact, all of Christian Lebanon is happy. We are glued to the radio for the short reports we get in English, and I read every word in the Jerusalem Post." Lebanon's minority were Christians, and the Christians and Muslims did not get along. Major Hadad and his militia patrolled our border and helped to protect Israel because the PLO had taken over southern Lebanon in the 70's. This 2nd war lasted 3 months when we actually went into Beiruit. By 1985 we had established a buffer zone between Lebanon and Israel.

In 1996 we had to go in Lebanon again in our Operation Grapes of Wrath, which lasted 16 days in order to end the shelling in Northern Israel by Hezbollah. Kiryat Shemona was constantly underfire, just as it was in 1982. That was one of my favorite towns, as they had the Hamishbeer, a wonderful department store which reminded me of Meier & Franks here in Portland. We had many American Jews living there, and they have been under attack so much, I don't know how they endure. Ceasefire was on 27 April, 1996.

Ahmadinejad has now visited Lebanon, buoying up their hatred for Israel. Iran is hoping to shake off memories of their 2005 assassination of Lebanon's former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Now they've been helping out Lebanon with water and electricity, so they are standing in the winner's circle. Ahmadinejad's disparaging remarks have been, "The world should understand that the Zionists will go. Palestine will be liberated." The crowd roared in approval.

He visited towns affected by Israel-Lebanon wars. Qana is a southern Lebanon town where more than 150 were killed by our bombs during 1996 and 2006 wars. Ahmadinejad was attributed with helping Lebanon "win the war."

The 2006 war was a 34 day war with Hezbollah. It started on 12 July 2006 and ceasefire by the UN was declared on 14 August 2006. On the 8 September Israel lifted their naval blockade. Hezbollah started it by firing rockets on our border towns. Then they fired anti-tank missiles on our Israeli Humvees patroling the border. They killed 3 soldiers and kidnapped 2 who could have been either dead or alive. We tried a rescue but 5 were killed in the attempt. Lastly we struck Lebanon with air attacks, hitting their airport which was the place they got imported weapons. A ground invasion was the end result. Hezbollah shot hundreds more rockets into northern Israel, where I used to live. They reached Haifa. They hit one of our warships with a drone. Lebanon took the biggest hit. They lost about 1,300. A million Lebanese were displaced as well as 300,00 to 500,000 Israelis. Israelis were able to return finally to their homes, but Lebanese couldn't due to our using cluster bomblets.

Why did Lebanon start attacking Israel in the first place? Do they not realize that we will retaliate? "For a trans-border Arab-Israeli war, this conflict was different than most. Israel at first responded lightly in the ground war, apparently relying on the air and artillery campaign to inflict most of the damage. Hezbollah responded with wave after wave of rockets and missiles supplied largely by Syria and Iran over the past several years."

Israel's Northern Border Neighbor; the New Lebanon

When I think of Lebanon, I remember Major Saad Hadad, the Christian friend of Israel. He patrolled the border between Lebanon and Israel. When he was exhausted, he'd come into Israel and have some R & R at our army hospital. We promised him that if anything were to happen to him we would take in his family. That was back between 1980-1985. During that time his Christian militia soldiers went into a Muslim army base and slaughtered the men there. We were blamed for that, but really hadn't expected it to happen, I'm sure.

Now Lebanon has been taken over by Iran and their terrorists, the Hizbullah. Their President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit them next week. Lebanon is going all out in greeting him, and what is he looking forward to doing there? He plans on throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers on the border.

Lebanon does have Prime Minister Saad Hariri, but he has given into Iranian pressure. When he formed his goverment in 2009, the Iranians were given veto power over all his government decisions. What's worse, Hariri's father was murdered by Syrian and Hizbullah assassins in 2005.

Syria and Hizbullah demand that Hariri not pay attention to a UN investigation that will name the proper killers. On Monday Syria arrested 33 Lebanese friends of Hariri for "false testimonies to the UN". Now they're afraid that Hizbullah will attack Christian and Sunni soldiers of Lebanon. Hizbullah happens to be made up of Shiite terrorists.

Israel sees that Ahmadinejad's visit can have an effect on a war with Israel. The US regional power has waned. Our administration has given sympathy to Hizbullah which shows many that Iran will fight Israel with Hizbullah. Israel may have to take on not only Lebanon but also Syria as well. So we know that Ahmadinejad is not there for just a friendly visit. After all, his goal is to eradicate the Jewish people.
