Recent Attacks On Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

Three teen-aged Jewish boys, Eyal Yifra 19, Gilad Shaar 16, and Naftali Fraenkel 16,  were kidnapped, bound and shot dead by Hamas.  Their bodies were found half-buried two weeks after they were kidnapped on Thursday, June 12th after school.  Celebrations have been going on with Hamas over the kidnapping and people have been handing out candies in their joy.  Palestinian TV is full of programs of hatred for Israelis and Hamas encourages the continued attacking should come from Fatah also.  Evidently it did with this horrendous killing.  The night before a barrage of rockets rained down on southern Israel from Hamas and continued into the next morning on June 29th and 30th.  The rockets have been continuing.

At the same time, suddenly a Palestinian teen boy, Mohammed Abu Khdeir of east Jerusalem,  was found dead and of course the Israelis were blamed for this.  His body was found burned and hard to identify.   The line was that it was done in retaliation and riots have been going on in a frenzy against Israelis in Jerusalem.  More likely, the boy was killed by his own family in another of the honor killings in the Palestinian culture because rumor has it that he was a homosexual.  His pictures showed a  very thin-looking boy.  I note that the Palestinians' rioting is accompanied with the exact description in their news of a "celebration by the Israelis over this."  Hamas has congratulated the kidnapping.  Is it not a wonder then that they were the instigators if not the culprits?   I have seen nothing in the Israeli news of this, only the sorrow felt before with all of Israel praying in large groups for their safe return, the family's sorrow and the resolve to remain committed to Israel.  Every time something happens, the Palestinian news always copies for themselves what they have caused in the Israelis.  They try to turn the tide and make-believe that they are the victims instead of the aggressors.  It's been in Judaism since the Exodus of Moses and the Israelites that we are not to be happy when the enemy dies, as they are also children of G-d.  I cannot picture any of our IDF cheering over the death of this boy.  Immediately they would know the complication that would be caused from such an event, too.  No, this is all hear-say to instigate the Palestinians to riot.

In March  2014 between the 12th and 14th, 60 rockets fell. This was before, during and after Purim.
Today, June 27, 2014:  A total of 6 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, with the remaining 4 landing in open territory.
Update: 6/28: In center of Gaza were underground rocket launchers, Israel hit them, retaliation from Hamas of 5 to 6  rockets hitting Sderot, causing fire in industrial section.
Update: 6/30  Gaza has fired 15 rockets into Israel last night and this morning.
Update:   There have been near-daily rocket attacks, followed by Israeli reprisals.
Update: 6/31  More than a dozen rockets fired from Gaza Strip slammed into Israel early Monday morning , following violent days in the south which have seen a rocket hit an Israeli factory and IDF retaliatory attacks kill at least one.  A factory in Sderot was hit and a man in it injured.

No injuries or damage are reported. In the morning 4 more rockets were fired. One fell in an open area in Sdot Negev. Another caused damage to several vehicles in the Eshkol Regional Council. A third rocket exploded in the area Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. No injuries were reported The fourth rocket caused a fire near a packaging factory in Eshkol. Though it looked like the fire were turned off, it has spread. Firefighting planes and additional squads try to stop the flames. So far no injuries are reported.   In the evening a salvo of mortar shells was launched at the Eshkol Regional Council area. No red alert in advance, but Explosions were heard. Security forces are inspecting the area. No reports of injuries or damages
July 2
Short after midnight two mortar shells exploded in open areas in the Eshkol Regional Council. No damage or injuries are reported. In the afternoon three mortar shells were fired at the same region. All exploded in open fields. No injuries or damage reported. Again four mortar shells were fired in the Eshkol Regional Council. No one was hurt, no damage reported. In the evening code red alarm was heard in the Ashkelon area. One rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome Missile Defense System, one exploded in open field. Red alert siren blared in the Eshkol and Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Councils.   Minutes after 2 rockets landed in open areas around. Five rockets were launched on the Sdot Negev Regional Council, three were launched towards Ofakim. One was shot down by Iron Dome, the others hit open fields. No damages ore injuries were reported. A rocket was fired on Eshkol Regional Council. No damages, no injuries.
July 3
1 hour past midnight the colour red siren is heard in Sderot and Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council.   One rocket exploded in Sderot. None was hurt, but structures got damaged.  "Terrorists in Gaza continue their relentless rocket fire upon Israel on Thursday as a Kassam rocket struck a building in Sderot Thursday morning that is being used as a summer day camp for children. The rocket thankfully did not explode as children were set to arrive minutes before the impact."
Fatah is following Hamas' lead with TV programs calling for the destruction of Israel.  Abbas is saying, Fatah heats up confrontational atmosphere:"Blood demands blood"Jerusalem, declare a revolution!"
Don't expect Abbas will try to cut ties with Hamas now, which is what Netanyahu has asked him to do.  They had united and they seem to be united with Gorilla glue.

6/3/14 Another rocket fell on a home and one fell next to a pre-school in Israel

Rocket and Mortar Attacks into Southern Israel: Before and on Eve of Peace Talks

Nadene Goldfoot

Why shoot rockets into Southern Israel on the eve of peace talks for the Palestinians?  Don't they want peace with Israel?  Evidently not according to those who have shot the rockets as it's a defiant move from Hamas terrorists in Gaza showing their disfavor with Fatah and the peace talks that have already started in Washington DC.

July 18th was the first one.  Two rockets struck the Eshkol region in the evening.  This is land in NW Negev between Ashkelon and Beersheba which borders the  Gaza Strip.   Then again on July 21st. at 10pm another rocket struck the Eshkol region.  The Eshkol region was hit again by 2 mortar shells  which struck on the 24th at 10am.   Now this Tuesday morning,  the 30th,  another rocket struck  into the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council area without killing anyone, thankfully. This is in the same area but also includes the town of Sderot, which has been hit so many times in the past.

A rocket is a rocket, though,  and a mortar is just as bad.  They bring death and destruction if it falls within a populated spot.  One never knows.  It's like Russian roulette.  It brings fear to one's body which can cause a woman to miscarry.  The emotional strain on people adds up to physical problems, and the Israelis have been under such pressure in southern Israel since 2000.

Israel has been hoping for peace ever since they were created once again on May 14, 1948.  That's a long time enduring lots of wars and attacks.  While the repertoire coming out of the Palestinian side is," does Israel want peace" and the reply has always been yes, the Palestinians have never agreed to anything pertaining to a peace pact.  In fact, what Abbas does is praise those who have killed Israelis in public squares and on TV.   Now both the Fatah members and Israel are committed to 9 months of sitting it out and coming to a plan.

Hamas in Gazans been completely cut off from Fatah who reside in Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem.  Making peace with Fatah hopefully will cause Hamas to agree to the same program.  Israel is actually in the position to have to make peace with 2 entities; not one.  Is there any logic to this war that has been going on?

As George Peters writes from Melbourne, Australia, the so called "Occupied Territories" are not being "Occupied" by Israel, and if they belong to anyone, they belong to the Jewish national Homeland as part of the League Mandate for Palestine (which is still enshrined in Article 80 of the UN Charter.)  Yes, they were part of the Jewish National Homeland.

From winning in the 1967 Six Day War, which was an Arab nation attack on Israel, the Occupied Territories were simply a return to the reconstituted Jewish national Homeland that had been illegally annexed by Jordan in 1948.  The Arabs waged an aggressive war against Israel.  This can be called "Crimes against Peace" and was #1 in the Nuremberg Trial of the Major War Criminals.  It was a crime against Humanity; Israel.

As for East Jerusalem, which the king of Jordan has complained loudly about not wanting any Jewish prayers said on their Mosque grounds, which is also the grounds of our past Temple, is, along with Judea and Samaria, geographically, historically and legally, part of the reconstituted Jewish National Homeland.  These places have been reclaimed by the Jews after several Crimes against Peace were committed against them by the many belligerent pan-Arab military invasions of 48-49 and 1967.

Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem were illegally seized and then retaken by Israel after 2 illegal wars of aggression and are now with their rightful owner as in accordance to the League Mandate for Palestine.  According to international Law, they are not occupied Territory.  They are legally part of of the Jewish Homeland which is called Israel.  If someone from Australia can figure this out, which many international lawyers have been declaring and we bloggers have been repeating, the 9 month peace program is going to be quite the place to hear some loud shouting.  I hope the defenders of Israel have their notes at hand. So far the attack is on again with 4 rockets and 2 mortars upon southern Israel and the peacemakers are just warming up.

Yesterday's Mortars Hit Southern Israel From Gaza

Nadene Goldfoot

Two mortar shells were fired from Gaza into southern Israel on Wednesday.  Evidently they were fired in defiance of the Hamas ruling of not to fire any.

The result was a lot of trauma to the citizens who were not warned of the attack because their code red program evidently wasn't working.

Luck was with the Israelis this time as no one was hurt and nothing was destroyed.  However, trauma and fear were enough of a jolt.

Shavuot Celebrates With a Rocket Fired from Gaza

Nadene Goldfoot

The Palestinians seem to know when Jews are having a holiday.  I wonder how they feel about firing a rocket on a holiday that celebrates the 5 Books of Moses being they also recognize him as a prophet.  Shame on them!  Shavuot is the holiday of being given the Torah.  Whatever would the world be like without it, I wonder.  How long would it have taken for people to become civilized?  Moses, (1391-1271 BCE) brought some amazing ways of living and thinking for that time and ours.  Then 10 commandments were just the basics, starters for people to start another way of thinking.  Otherwise, people would have sunk to the depths of Sodom and Gomorah, most likely.  They often revert to that level even today, so imagine if it were the norm?  Imagine, it was about 3,000 years ago that we received the recipe for an excellent way of life, and we're still not to that point.  With all our technology, our behaviors are barely out of the caveman days.

A rocket was fired Wednesday in southern Israel in the Eshkol Council from Gaza but landed in an empty area.  It didn't stop the celebrants for very long.   Previously, Israel had rockets fired at them  on Lag B'Omer.

Two mortars fell into the Mt. Hermon area but turned out to be stray ones from the Syrian Civil War, so someone said.    Now Israel is dodging those as well as ones from Gaza.  Life goes on, though.

3 Rockets Falling into Sderot Again: Truce Broken

Nadene Goldfoot
A mortar was shot into southern Israel's  Sderot Tuesday .
Qassam rockets were then shot into the same area Wednesday morning as children were going to school, making 2 attacks in 24 hours.

These attacks were the first since rockets were fired during President Obama's visit to Israel 2 weeks ago.

Air strikes from Israel followed these attacks up.  The Israeli air raids came after the 3rd rocket attack on Israel.  These were the first airstrikes since an informal cease-fire in November.  An Israeli military statement said its planes targeted accurately  2 extensive terror sites.

Defense Minister Ya'alon warned that Israel will take a tough response toward any shelling.

Palestinians  reported that no one was hurt and no damage was reported in Northern Gaza.

A mortar  from Syria was shot into Ramat Hagolan in the North.   The IDF destroyed the source of fire.  Israel will not ignore any rockets coming from Syria, either, whether accidental or not.

During November 2012, 1,500 rockets were fired at Israel in 8 days from Gaza.   Israel's military holds Gaza's Hamas rulers responsible for any attack against Israel.  Though Sderot takes most of the hits and depending on the ammunition used, Netanyahu said that shelling southern Israel puts 1 million Israeli citizens in harm's way.  That's 1/8th of the population.

I note that the elections of the Palestinians were just over, and Hamas terrorists put in the same people again who are all for attacking Israel.

Though on Tuesday the UN overwhelmingly ok'd a worldwide arms trade pact, Iran, North Korea and Syria, all facing arms embargoes, cast the only no votes.  They complained that it favors the big arms suppliers like the USA over importers that need weapons for self defense. The Palestinian terrorists get many of their rockets from Syria who gets them from Iran.  Moon explained that the Arms Trade Treaty will make it more difficult for deadly weapons to be diverted into the illicit market.  It will take 90 days to be in effect.  50 states need to ratify it.  The USA's National Rifle Association has opposed it.  It needs 2/3 approval to win ratification.   So were the hits on Tuesday  and today in response to "getting their licks in before they can't get their weapons for self -defense"?   It certainly is coincidental.

Hopefully this will mean that eventually it will become harder and harder for these terrorists to receive their weapons to use against the Israeli population.  The cease fire lasted from November 21st to  about March 20th when Obama visited.

No Let-Up of Rockets Raining in Israel During Putin's Visit

Nadene Goldfoot
Terrorists attacked the farming communities of the Eshkol Regional Council which is made up of 31 communities along the border of the Gaza Strip  with 2 mortar shells last night. When the siren goes off warning of an incoming rocket, the people have 15 seconds to get to cover, hopefully a bomb shelter.  The siren doesn't always go off.  So far, 6 rockets have come and the siren didn't work.

The rocket explosions  leave  people in shock.  One missile scored a direct hit on a home last week.  a mother and her child just got to a bomb shelter before the rocket exploded.  Dozens of children just got on their bus at a bus stop when a missile hit the area where they were waiting.

Tazpit News Agency's Anat Silverman reported that people are always thinking of where you could take cover at the sound of the next siren.  It's very stressful, and causes a feeling of pressure on your mind and body.  Not all people have bomb shelters.  Parents are lying on top of their children when the siren goes off if they have none.

While news reports that these missiles explode "harmlessly" in open areas, they neglect that the effect causes people to be hospitalized for shock and trauma, and that minor injuries are not even reported.  For instance, Tazpit reported that a kibbutz farmer, Max Yadgar of Kibbutz Nir Oz was plowing his fields a few hundred feet from the security fence (Israel's area is very tiny) when terrorists shot at him, breaking the glass around the cab of the tractor which cut his face.  He had to hide behind of the big wheel of the tractor for protection and wait for the IDF troops to come.  Max felt he needed to take  a few days off to recover from the shock.

During this time, Russia's President Vladimir Putin is visiting Israel.    He is scheduled to attend the unveiling of a Red Army World War II Victory Monument in Netanya Monday.  More than half a million Jewish soldiers fought with the Red Army in WWII against the Nazis.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed the idea of the monument to President Putin two years ago during his visit to Moscow. Putin complied and promised to come to Israel for the inauguration ceremony.Putin in 2005 was the first Russian president to visit Israel, and this time around he will make a high-profile trip to Bethlehem and to Jordan.

Noam Bedein, son of my old friend David Bedein,  is the director of Sderot Media Center and told of Sderot being under rocket fire weekly for decades.  He said that the weapons and rockets come from Iran and Libya and are smuggled into Gaza.  As long as this smuggling goes on, he figures that southern Israel will be under fire from all the rockets, mortars and missiles.  Sderot is less than a mile from the border and are first under attack, usually.

Oregonian Newspaper Finally Recognizes Attack on Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
After finding reports of 150 rockets that have hit southern Israel this week alone of which 30 rockets and mortar shells had hit on Saturday, the Oregonian Sunday newspaper finally came out with a tiny article, "Militants, Israelis exchange attacks" this morning on the bottom right hand corner of page A10.

Only in this crazy world is there a group of people (Palestinian terrorists) who consistently bomb their neighbor(Israel) putting over one million people in jeopardy and seeking bomb shelters with wildly shot rockets, mortars, and missiles and then complain and threaten when they are shot back at after much waiting and hoping that they would stop and don't.  In this crazy world, they, the bullies, are thought of as the underdog while the one they are picking on is seen as the power-house.

The Egyptian official in Ramallah has been trying to broker a cease fire between the terrorists and Israel but the terrorists say that they will stop if Israel will stop.  This is a round robin affair; terrorists cannot seem to stop more than a few days then start in again, and finally Israel cannot abide it anymore and retaliates and then are in trouble for doing so by the UN, the terrorists, whoever is against them.

Our Americana newspaper reports that Hamas has stayed out of confrontation for about the past 3 years and say that other factions have launched cross-border attacks.  From my sources, these other factions are just the militant arms of Hamas.  Hamas is in control and is the instigator no matter what.  Israel puts the onus on Hamas.

The newspaper then went on to say that the militant Hamas rulers threatened to escalate fighting Saturday after Israeli air strikes killed several gunmen.  What do they expect Israel to do?  Be sitting pigeons forever? A rocket from Gaza wounded one person and damaged an elementary school in southern Israel.  Luckily, no one was killed, but you can figure that many are suffering from PTSD, which happens after every incursion of rockets.

The paper wrote that "the two sides periodically clash, "  as if this is a game of Red Rover, Red Rover, send Bobby right over.  It's pretty much one-sided with Israel taking an awful lot of bombing until they get one lick in by air.  At that they aim for the cause of the bombing and try to take out the rocket launchers.

They did mention that this was the most serious in months and was started by a "little known al-Qaida-inspired Palestinian militant group (note that they have dropped the word terrorist-they're militants now-even though having rockets fall in and around your home is terrorizing)  but has extended to drag in Hamas.

Drag in Hamas!  You can bet your buttons that they tell their "militant arm" to get going and keep the pressure up.  So this is how newspapers soften the true facts of what's really going on.  I do wonder if the reporter for AP ever went into southern Israel to get first hand accounts this week.  Ashkelon would be a nice city to report from.

Gaza Fence Stops Another Kidnapping

Nadene Goldfoot
Terrorists keep shooting at Israel while Hillary Clinton at the same time asks for the Palestinian Authority and Israel to resume peace negotiations.  Someone had better tell these terrorists to take a break.  It would be nice to see some goodwill gestures for a change instead of this constant terrorism if ever peace can be taken seriously.  .

Ahmed Abu Nasser, 22,  was part of a terror squad in Gaza ready to fire into Israel and scored a direct hit. In the ensuing attack, 4 people were killed and 4 wounded. The terror squad had fired mortars into the Eshkol Regional council area.

These terrorists had been sent out to kidnap an Israeli soldier, and actually succeeded in grabbing one, but that's as far as he got.  . This is deduced also because the slain terrorist had used night vision equipment in his early morning attack, showing his intentions.  He was breaking through the Gaza fence, put up to save lives.   In the attack, a 21 year old IDF soldier was killed who came from Ashkelon, our Portland's sister city, the one with the major hospital serving all people, Palestinian and Israeli who need it.  During a thick fog, the terrorist had  opened fire, killing Moshiashvili, causing the other IDF to open fire and kill the terrorist.  Two young kids who should have been going to college, and this is how the young spend some of their time in Israel and Gaza.

The Islamic Jihad terror organization has an armed Al-Quds wing, and they admitted it was this wing who was responsible for the attack.  The IDF holds Hamas responsible as it is they who rule Gaza.  Just like Sharon was held responsible for the Christian Militia who went into Lebanon, Hamas must take the responsibility.

Israel's Protective Iron Dome or Kipat Barzel

Nadene Goldfoot

Brig. Gen. Danny Gold, head of Maf'at, decided that Israel needed a system of intercepting all the missiles.  By 2007 Israel commissioned developing the anti-missile Iron Dome.  They chose an Israeli contractor, Rafael. " The Israeli company, mPrest Systems, was put in charge of programming the core of Iron Dome's battle management system."

They designed it to intercept and destroy short-range rockets and artillery shells fired from distances of 4 to 70 kilometers away.  The trajectory would be taking them to a populated area in all weather conditions.  This is Israel's defensive countermeasure to the rocket threat against Israel's civilian population on its northern and southern borders.   Within 4 years is was combat ready.  There was no system like this in the whole world.  The people involved felt like a start-up business.  This was a remarkably short period of time for a weapons system to be designed from scratch.

Funding for it came from the United States and Israel.   They have invested nearly a million into the Iron Dome, and are willing to invest more, now as long as the USA can get the development rights to the weapon system. Right now they have no right to the technology involved.

To fire at one missile, it costs $40,000.  It's expensive to use.  It was first used on 27 March 2011 near Beersheba.  By the 10 March 2011, it was successful in intercepting a Grad rocket launched from Gaza for the first time.  On 10 March, 2012, it shot down 90% of rockets launched from Gaza it fired at.  By April it had intercepted 93 rockets.  Maybe that's why we haven't heard of rockets landing near Southern Israel's towns.

Rockets which look like they're going to land in unpopulated areas are ignored.

Shelling in Israel Last Night

Nadene Goldfoot
Eight mortars where shot into Israel last night of which 7 of them were shot within one hour in a barage.  Now the UN Chief Ban Ki-moon will visit Gaza and Sderot Thursday morning.  Netanyahu was repremanded for building.  Abbas got the pat on the back and "Good Job" from Ban Ki-moon.  The bases were loaded against Netanyahu.  Netanyahu replied in the conversation that the real problem is not the building but the Palestinian refusal to recognize Israel as the Jewish Homeland in the first place.  .

I ask, if the Palestinians can not do that and recognize our state, how does the UN have the chutzpah to expect us to stop building in land that fell into their hands from being attacked ?  Why is it that the Palestinians have never made a peace pact before the issue of building in Judea, Samaria and east Jerusalem?  How do they expect Israel to recognize a Palestine if it isn't reciprocal?

Are they being so friendly in their aspirations of peace that their overtures just happen to be military shelling into our land that they won't recognize?  What do they think they are doing?  Dropping love notes?

Last Three Weeks Dodging the Rockets and Mortars and Bombs in Southern Israel

In the last 3 weeks Hamas and other terrorist groups have shot several rockets and mortars into Southern Israel.  They've also tried to plant bombs intended to blow up army jeeps on patrol near the Gaza security fence.

Last week Israel's air force hit 2 terrorists who were planting bombs  after a mortar attack on the Western Negev and were seen planting a bomb near the security fence.

Hamas's comment was that the men were only civilians setting traps to catch birds.  With the shuk (open air market) full of food, I doubt very much if anyone is out catching birds.  Out in Eastern Oregon, birds are shot at, not trapped, anyway, and the hunters use dogs to retrieve them.  Yes, they were traps all right, not but to catch birds.  They were to kill our young IDF soldiers.

Rockets and Mortars Rained into Israel-The Count

624 rockets and 392 mortar shells have been shot at Israel since Operation Cast Lead.  The shooting was supposed to stop.   Just since December 8th to the 10th, 18 rockets with the range of 25 miles and 11 mortars have hit southern Israel.  Ashdod would have been hit by a 122 mm Grad rocket but was stopped by the Iron Dome.  Unfortunately, it cannot get all of them.  It is the Palestinian Arabs who are violating the cease fire negotiations.

With all this, our American government insists it must be Israel's fault that Abbas won't come to the table.  Who better than Israel would like some peace?

Bombing of Israel from Gaza has started up again.  The last rocket attack happened on April 18th.  Tuesday is started in again.  Kassam rockets, mortars from Gaza were shot into Western Negav of Eshkol's regional council.  This is the 2nd attack in less than a week.

Gaza's Continuing Attack On Israel-Thursday

10 rockets and mortars rained on Israel today with 2 of them being the long distance kind that can reach Tel Aviv from Gaza. They probably procured them in the lull since Operation Cast Lead.   As it was, 2 exploded north of Ashdod.  US Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates was visiting at the time, and said that no sovereign state could tolerate rockets fired at its people, and Israel certainly is not tolerating it.

In the meantime, Obama gave his condolences to Netanyahu, and Abbas condemned it.

Ashdod, Ashkelon: Grad Rockets and Mortars Hitting Israel: Nine Palestinians Killed

A Grad rocket rocket was shot into Israel landing near Ashdod today.    A rocket slamed into Ashkelon.

All this happened in retaliation to Israel's retaliation for the 54 rockets that fell into Israel the day before.  Israel in turn killed 5 terrorists and accidently hit 4 civilians  of which 3 were under age 18.  Tuesday when they came across a  terror cell in Gaza preparing to launch a long range rocket into Israel.  The problem is that Hamas stations the attacks among civilian areas, in this case a house in Gaza.

France is worried and has called on both Hamas and Israel to  show restraint.  This is after Hamas pummeled Israel with 54 rockets, mortars and missles, the most in a long time.  I suppose France would just take the beating or wait for the USA to come to their rescue.  It amazes me that these countries never think to tell Hamas to lay off.

Qassam Rocket Attacks From Gaza in 2010
Nadene Goldfoot

Rockets have been fired from Gaza constantly all during 2010 from the first of January to this date. Operation Cast Lead did not deter the enemy. This means that all of Southern Israel has been under attack for the past 11 months of this year. The areas of Sderot and Ashkelon are the places that most artillery fall. Though actual buildings may not be hit, the psychological effect is most unnerving. One never knows if the next one will hit you.

Just in this month of November, 7 rockets and mortar shells were fired on Israel. Yesterday, being the 18th in Israel, 3 mortar shells hit the areas in the Eshkol Regional Council. Luckily, no damages or injuries resulted, except the extra beating of hearts of citizens in the area living on the edge.

Israel retaliated and our air strike took out two militants in Gaza City. They belonged to the Army of Islam, this group being copycats of Al-Qaeda. The result is that Israel has received threats in broken Hebrew from the group in that jihad will continue. This is a first to receive threats in Hebrew, even though most Gazans can speak it.

Israel has endured attacks throughout the land since 1948, yet a Portlander called Israel the "bully" today in the Oregonian's Letters to the Editor. I don't think people read anything except something that comes up telling them that Israel is so bad. Facts will just confuse them. It's truly disgusting. We need a public relations office.

Eilat and Jordan Hit by Long-Range Rockets
This morning both Eilat and Jordan were hit by long-range rockets and mortars. Eilat, the southern-most city in Israel with a population of about 65,000 is a popular holiday resort for tourists and Israelis. It is at the northern tip of the Red Sea. It lies next to Jordan.
The attack came from the Sinai peninsular in Egypt. I've been expecting something from Lebanon, but not from there. I hope Israel was more aware than I.
Five Grad rockets hit Jordan's resort, Aqaba, injuring four Jordanians. One exploded in front of the Intercontinental Hotel. Two cars were wrecked.
In Eilat, a rocket hit a taxi outside a hotel. It burst into flames. Two rockets exploded north of the city near the border with Jordan. Two more landed in the sea in Jordan waters.
The two cities had been hit on April 22 when two Katyusha rockets from Sinai exploded in Aqaba. There were no casualties then, either. In 2005 and 2007 both Al-Qaeda and Hamas were involved in attacks in Aqaba port. Then they killed a Jordanian soldier. A suicide bomber had attacked a bakery in Eilat and killed three bystanders.
It looks to me like Jordan would benefit if these terrorists could be stopped. They're also in the line of fire.

BBC's Biased Reporting: Anti-Israel As Always

by Nadene Goldfoot
The BBC obviously hasn't known anyone Jewish either in Britain or Israel. We love life. Our toast is L'Chaim; to Life. We want ourselves to live as well as others. We don't even guess about the conditions when dead. We're too concerned to make a better life for everyone.

Yet the BBC infers and comes right out with their idea that Israel would purposely bomb a primary school in Gaza. That is so far from the truth. The truth is more that the terrorists have placed their arms inside a primary school putting their own children at risk. They've been known to do such things.

The BBC only writes about the suffering of the Gazan children because of Israel, never the suffering of Israelis because of terrorists.

The number of deaths is thrown in Israeli's faces. "When you talk to schoolchildren in Gaza they say, look at us, so many of us are killed in wars with Israel, whereas in Sderot not many children die, not many are injured, not many rockets are actually fired." Israel's citizens do everything humanly possible to keep their death and injured numbers down, hereas the opposite happens in Gaza. The more that die the better their propaganda works.
The fact is that 12,000 rockets and mortars have been fired from the Gaza Strip since 2001 while over 1,000 people have been wounded as a result.

Children and adults are not getting a true picture of the events in Israel and Gaza if they only depend on the BBC and Katya Adler's reporting. They'll just think that Israel is all at fault. I hope the Brits are a little smarter than to depend on one source for their information. If they know what makes Jews really tick, they will seek out information that is not biased.

Lies From Palestinan Media Sympathizers: White Phosphorus Usage

Nadene Goldfoot
The Palestinian Hamas representatives are so good at relating false facts that are so contrary to reality of their purpose or history. Today a Palestinian professor from Bethlehem University was on KBOO, a Portland radio station, and was debating in some fashion a representative of our Portland Community who is supportive of Israel, Bob Horenstein. I heard such a distortion of history that it was appalling to me from this professor. I might add that Bob was not given any time for rebuttal of facts. Under these conditions, he did a terrific job.

In the same fashion, the Palestinians are bantering about another false claim. They are saying that Israel is using phosphorus in it's fight against Gaza terrorists. In truth, Hamas themselves have been using white phosphorus as a weapon against Israeli civilians during this conflict. On Tuesday, a mortar shell fired from Gaza into Israel contained white phosphorus.

A regional council's security chief said, "the potential danger of using such a rocket is enormous. It is far more dangerous than other Qassam rockets and mortal shells. This is an escalation in the type of explosives the Palestinians use on civilians. We challenge Human Rights Watch to condemn this attack in the same way it has falsely condemned Israel.

I won't wait for the international media such as organizations like Human Rights Watch who is always condemning Israel. Then media such as The Guardian, Times of London, Christian Science Monitor and CNN just repeat HRW's claims without really checking into the claims because they are into their "humanitarian focus" and condemn or even report this development against Israel. They seem to be in cahoots with the Palestinians and report biased information all the time.

Surprisingly, the International Red Cross is corroborating Israel's claims, and has stated that it had no evidence to suggest that white phosphorus is being used improperly or illegally by Israel. Israel does use it to create smoke or illuminate a target. It's not being used in any other way. This is a legitimate use under international law. It is not being used to burn down buildings or consciously put civilians at risk. The spokesman for the Red Cross was Peter Herby and he was telling the Associated Press. Thankfully, one person has the guts to be honest about what Israel is doing.

The Gates to Gaza
Arabs Kill Their Own Children in Zeal to Kill Jews
Gaza terrorists know that Israel shuts the gates to the entrances of Gaza when their terrorists attack Israel with rockets and mortars, but the international community put so much pressure on Israel again that they opened the gates to allow goods in. And what happened? Immediately Southern Israel was hit with 12 rockets and mortars Friday. This time a rocket also hit a Palestinian's home right in Gaza. The terrorists let the owner of the house go to Ashkelon in Israel, where Barzalai Hospital is for treatment. Another of the rockets misfired again and killed two little Palestinians girls ages 5 and 13 and wounded a third little girl.
