Hamas Objective Reiterated Again: : Destroy Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
At every chance Hamas has, Ismail Haniyeh  keeps saying that their goal is to eliminate Israel.  They may be connecting with Fatah and will go through the hoops of liberating Gaza, West Bank (Judea and Samaria) or Jerusalem, but they will work for their long term goal as well.  This was said at the 24th anniversary of Hamas's creation.

I hope that by this time our government is paying attention.  It's not all hot air.  He means to work at it.  There is no peace in his heart that I can see.  The pressure should be off Israel to come to the table by now.  There is not much one can offer when the opposition just wants to murder you.

Chanukah is Over, and the Bombing Starts Up Again

Nadene Goldfoot
One million Israelis are exposed to the danger of being hit by missiles, mortars and rockets in southern Israel.  Wednesday a rocket was fired into the area that did not explode on impact.  That doesn't happpen very often.

Thursday, when people were returning from Chanukah vacations, they were greeted by a Qassam rocket within 10 kilometers of being fired from Gaza that landed in a field without killing anyone.  However, it does cause PTSD.  People are alarmed by the sounds of the siren and from running to some kind of cover.  Not all people have access to bomb shelters in the area.  People never know what was fired or what the range might be.  All have to be prepared.  Hamas is held responsible for all firing emanating from Gaza.

No Peace for Southern Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
The fight goes on.  On Thursday, the 22nd, 3 mortar shells were fired into southern Israel.  Wartime comes from Gaza and southern Israel suffers.  Israelis have only 12 seconds to get to a bomb shelter so they can't stray too far away.  One never knows when something can happen.  It has been quieter the past few days.

This time Israel's air strike got a terrorist and from 3 to 10 were injured.  They aimed at a certain vehicle knowing the terrorists they were after were in it.  The Gazan terrorists even fired a kassam rocket but it fell short and landed in Gaza.  Israel had a 2nd strike, hitting a terrorist cell. This happened when they found out about a planned attack on the Israel-Egyptian border.

The terrorist that was killed was a world Jihadist belonging to Saraya al-Quds wing of Hamas.  Another Hamas terrorist hit was one that had been firing high trajectory weapons into Israel.

Foreign Rulers of Palestine 70 to 1948 CE: 1878 Years

Nadene Goldfoot
Palestine, named by the Romans,  was ruled by foreign governments but never by the people that lived in it.

Romans ruled from 70 CE to 395 and had changed the name to obliterate the Jewish identity of the land.  They are the ones who changed the name from Judaea to Palaestina for the long vanished Philistines, who were an aegean people.  Jerusalem's name was changed to Aelia Capitolina.  A large Jewish community was in the Galilee, on the coastal plain and in Judaea.  The Talmud was written in this period and there were more than 400 Jewish villages, etc.  The Mishnah was finished in the 2nd century and the Jerusalem Talmud finished between the 4th and 5th centuries.

The Byzantines (Eastern Roman Empire)  took over from 395 to 636. Jews became a minority and Christians a majority with languages spoken of Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic.  Arabs then ruled from 636 to 1072 with Arabization and Islamization happening.  The majority of the population converted to Islam and spoke Arabic then.  Arab tribes immigrated mainly from Egypt and Arabia  which continued.  The Seljuk's (Turks) from 1072 to 1099.  The land had been divided by the Arabs into 2 military districts on both sides of the river Jordan.  One was called Filastin (Palestine) and the other Urdun (Jordan).  The Arabs built Ramla, the only town founded by them in the land.  It was an administrative center.

The Christian Crusaders' ruled from 1099 to 1291 and named the land the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Their number never exceeded 30,000 and did not change the population's character.   Then the Mamluks (Rulers of Syria and Egypt) ruled from 1291 to 1516 and destroyed most of the cities and villages on the coast.  They were trying to deter foreign invasion.  It remained empty until Jews came back.  They divided the land into 3 separately administered districts or Mamlaka.  They were Safad, Gaza and Damascus.  They had no name for the land as a whole.

Finally, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey)  took over from 1516 to 1917 an the land was also divided into administered districts of Sanjaks and Vilayets.  They also had no special name for the land as a whole.  That had really been unimportant anyway as there hadn't been hardly any Arabs living there anyway to call it by name.  There were only poor Jews who lived there near the synsagogues. They had brought insecurity and uncertainty and oppression.  Marauding Beduin tribes wandered about.  Villages were reduced by half between the 16th and 19th century.  By the 2nd half of the 19th Centery, both Arabs and Jews grew in number.  By 1914 the population was estimated at 680,000 of whom 85,000 were Jews.

The British were given the Mandate after the WWI so ruled from 1918 to 1948, when Israel then was pronounced a state.  They renamed the land Palestine.  The mandate extended to both sides of the river Jordan.  In 1922, Britain partitioned the Mandated territory into Palestine which was west of the Jordan and Transjordan which was east of the Jordan.

Creating Arab States from the Ottoman Empire

Nadene Goldfoot
The Sheikhs of Araby
The British had their problems getting their stories straight when they were given the mandate of the land of Palestine in 1918.  The Ottoman Empire, which was ruled by the Turks, had sided with the Axis or German side.  They lost in WWI.  The empire was by then bankrupt and in the hands of the allies who held mandates over the land.  The Arabs didn't like being in the Ottoman Empire under Turks anyway.

Born in 1853 was a Sheikh, Sharif Hussein bin Ali, Emir of Mecca, a city in Saudi Arabia.  He held title to "King of the Arabs."  This leader was the great grandfather of the present day King Hussein, and was the leader of the Great Arab Revolt.  A Sheikh is an Arab chief.  In his case, his family had held this title from 1201CE to 1925.  He died in 1931.  This was at a time when Russian Jews were making aliyah to the land and developing kibbutzeem, draining swamps, planting Eucalyptus trees,  killing mosquitoes, tilling the land and fighting off raiders.  They had bought land from absent Arab land owners who were having a gay old time in Paris, no doubt.

Abdullah and Faisal were his sons.  There was a great battle between the Turks and the Arabs.   The British made promises to the Arabs and promises to the Jews.  The promises were about the same piece of land.  This Hashemite family, descending from Muhammad,  secured Arab rule over Transjordan, Iraq and Arabia.

Faisal was the 3rd son of the King of the Arabs.  On January 3, 1919, he signed the Faisal-Weizmann Agreement for Arab-Jewish cooperation.  He knew about the Balfour Declaration as well.  He was the king of Syria in 1920 and then king of Iraq from 1921 to 1933.  He wanted a very large Arab state for himseslf including Iraq, Syria and the rest of the fertile Crescent.

Two weeks prior to signing the agreement, Faisal stated:

The two main branches of the Semitic family, Arabs and Jews, understand one another, and I hope that as a result of interchange of ideas at the Peace Conference, which will be guided by ideals of self-determination and nationality, each nation will make definite progress towards the realization of its aspirations. Arabs are not jealous of Zionist Jews, and intend to give them fair play and the Zionist Jews have assured the Nationalist Arabs of their intention to see that they too have fair play in their respective areas.

Everything was predicated on the Arabs gaining their independence.  "The Arabs did not obtain their independence and the Faisal-Weizmann agreement survived only a few months."  It wasn't up to the Jews to give them this independence; it was the British.

Though Weizmann argued in 1947 that Britain had given the Arab independence, they actually wanted more.  The catch was that Sharif Hussein formally endorsed the Balfour Declaration in the Treaty of Sèvres of 10 August 1920, along with the other Allied Powers, as King of Hedjaz.  The treaty was still binding.  The UN did not go along with it."

Transjordan was created in 1922 and Jordan was created in 1946.
Iraq was created in 1958 and Lebanon in 1943.  Syria was under the French mandate and was created in April 1946.  Egypt has been Egypt forever, but also went through changes.  1954 saw a government.  Iran, which was Persia in bible days, had a government in 1953.  Israel was created May 1948.

If the British had played their cards a little differently, Faisal and Weizmann could have been successful in their goals to bring these two semitic cousins together, but it was not to be.  Weizmann settled for the poorest portion of the original Jewish Homeland promised to the Jews and was rightfully  happy that he had something that had been lost to us.  Each Sheikh in this Hussein family wanted his own kingdom.  If one brother was promised land, the others wanted their fair share as well.  Our forefathers meant well.  Little could they imagine that we'd still be fighting over the right to have Israel after 63 years of their original declaration.  It's too bad that out of all those Sheikhs there isn't another like Faisal, who saw the good in the Jews coming home.

The Call to the Damned Peace Table

Nadene Goldfoot
"Just get to the damned table!"  Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said to Netanyahu threateningly.  Who does he think he is, General Vespasian?

What's he threatening?  Punishment, like a general would say to his private?  Leon just got on the job and has no patience.  Look at how long Israel has been waiting for a decent partner at the peace table.  All the while Israel has to put up with mortars, rockets and missiles raining into their country that are trying to kill their citizens.  What does Panetta have to put up with?  Just Hillary Clinton and Obama.  Isn't that quite a difference?

Leon Panetta visited Israel for the first time in October.  Now he thinks he knows everything.  He seems to have no idea why the Palestinians have not sat down at the table with Israel.  He must have forgotten Netanyahu's speech at the UN about this very thing and the fact that he begged the Palestinians in front of the whole UN to come to the table.  Ever since 1948 Israel has been asking these same people to talk of peace and stop making war, and to discuss having their own state.

They keep refusing because they don't want a piece of Israel.  They want the whole tiny country.  It's not in their plan to just add another 49th Muslim country to the world.  They want the pleasure of wiping Israel off the face of the earth.  It's not peace that they want to achieve.  It's the whole piece of land. Like Golda Meier once said, "We will achieve peace when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us."  The world is still waiting along with Israel.  It's their hatred that is invented as well in order to serve the powerful Arab rulers in keeping out a Jewish state.  There is no rational reason to hate Jews.

I love how Begin answered Ambassador Lewis in a similar situation as seen below.

"What kind of expression is this – "punishing Israel"? Are we a vassal state of yours? Are we a banana republic? Are we youths of fourteen who, if they don't behave properly, are slapped across the fingers? Let me tell you who this government is composed of. It is composed of people whose lives were spent in resistance, in fighting and in suffering. You will not frighten us with "punishments." He who threatens us will find us deaf to his threats. We are only prepared to listen to rational arguments. You have no right to "punish" Israel – and I protest at the very use of this term." Israeli Prime Minister, Menachem Begin to US ambassador Lewis in December 1981 after President Reagan attempted to punish Israel.

So, secretary Leon Panetta, you  can take on the job of telling the Palestinians to
"Just get to the damned table!"  I think Israel has tried enough times already. All our rational arguments are falling on deaf ears who are not being rational in the first place.  They realize all too clearly that  shelling us and threatening our citizens will only bring retaliation from the air.  They know this and they relish this fact.  We turned the other cheek for 6 long years and it did no good.  Can you come up with anything that is also just for Israel?

Now if it is Gingrich running the show in the next election, he's going to understand the whole state of affairs and won't be pressing Israel like this.  He'll be pressing the Palestinians-maybe.  After all, at least he realizes the facts that they are an "invented" people in the first place.  Maybe he'll tell them like the past Lebanese Arab-American reporter from Washington DC , Helen Thomas, said to us Jews: "Get the hell out of Palestine! They can go home-Poland, Germany, America."  That coming from an American reporter calling Israel "Palestine."

In the Palestinian's case, they can go home to Sudan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, as well as from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen, Libya, Morocco, Bosnia, the Caucasus, Turkmenistan, Kurdistan, India, Afghanistan and Balochistan.

Rockets and Mortars Rained into Israel-The Count

624 rockets and 392 mortar shells have been shot at Israel since Operation Cast Lead.  The shooting was supposed to stop.   Just since December 8th to the 10th, 18 rockets with the range of 25 miles and 11 mortars have hit southern Israel.  Ashdod would have been hit by a 122 mm Grad rocket but was stopped by the Iron Dome.  Unfortunately, it cannot get all of them.  It is the Palestinian Arabs who are violating the cease fire negotiations.

With all this, our American government insists it must be Israel's fault that Abbas won't come to the table.  Who better than Israel would like some peace?

It's War-Not Neighborly Disagreements
Nadene Goldfoot
As much as we hate it, it's a war between Gaza terrorism and Israel.  Hamas terrorists won the vote with the people when the USA pressed for a democratic way of choosing sides, and Fatah's PLO group lost out to the more powerful and persuasive terrorists.  I say terrorists because that's what they are.  They don't wear uniforms.  It's not a state-run army, which makes it hard on Israeli soldiers to tell just who is who.   They prey on women and children as much as possible.  Just look at the school in Safed where they had attacked and killed students in 1974, the Ma'alot Massacre, just 6 years berfore I arrived in Israel to teach.

Instead of just dropping bombs in populated areas helter skelter-like, Israel uses their intelligence gathering to do surgical strikes by their fighter pilots on the ringleaders.  This time Atzam Tzubhi Ismail Batash, age 43 and another of his group, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, were struck down in their vehicle at a public garden near Gaza City.  Gaza reported that 5 bystanders were also wounded in the strike. That hasn't been confirmed as yet, but is possible.  Usually terrorists try to be in populated areas because that has been a detriment to these surgical strikes many times.  Each strike from the IDF has to be okayed first at their home base.  They do try their best to avoid collateral damage of killing innocent citizens.

Batash was the senior operative in charge of many attacks on Israeli citizens of southern Israel.  It was known that their cell was  planning more.

Hamas and Fatah have both been told that anytime Israel is attacked will only bring retaliation on their people.  Six years had gone by from 2001 on to Operation Cast Lead without being able to retaliate.  The gloves are off now.  If they want to live in peace they have to be peaceful to Israel.  Their missiles are reaching farther out and can hit anyplace.  Only the security that Israel offers its citizens of bomb shelters keeps the death count down in Israel.  It doesn't count for the emotional trauma people live under.  The fear of even going to the bathroom takes over for children and adults, as they only have 12 seconds or less to get to a safer place.  It's like living under Russian roulette.

All the Palestinian Authority had to do was to accept the fact that a Jewish state was created in 1948 and to respect the decision and work out peaceful plans  together with Israel.  This is the real world, and it didn't happen.  The Arabs could have had wonderful lives in comparison to what they have settled for.  When Golda Meier conversed with a high level Sheik, he was most happy that Jews were going to live in this neglected piece of land and make something of it to the benefit of all.  I guess he was just an enigma to the rest of his peers.

Fighting to Have and to Keep Our Land of Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
Britain held the mandate after WWI on Palestine, making promises to the Jews of a National Jewish Homeland and why not? Israel and Judea had been our homeland 2,000 years ago before the Romans put an end to Jerusalem  in 70 CE.   Bar Kokhba had made a last stand in 135 CE and lost.  The problem was that Britain also made promises to the few Arabs that were living there as well.

Regular Arab armies invaded in May 1948  minutes after Israel was declared a state They used rifles, grenades and homemade Stens. Jewish children fought with the men. Jordan’s Arab Legion invaded with a British commanded leader with artillery, tanks, and planes, but weren’t trained very well. Jews had an undying spirit that the Arabs lacked.

Israel had from 7,000 to 10,000 dead, more than one out of every 100 Jews living in Israel then. Arab toll was higher. We paid a high price to give birth to our state.

In the 6 Day War of 1967 Israel lost about 800 dead out of a populaton of 2.5 million. Israel had learned how to protect its soldiers by then.

Today, with a population of 5.5 million Jews and 1.4 million Arabs,  we are still being attacked.  Gaza, an area we gave back, has become the site from which Hamas terrorists strike with mortars, rockets and missiles.  Even Lebanon has allowed terrorists to strike from the their northern border as well.

Abba Eban, David Horowitz of the Jewish Agency and Jon Kimche, pro-Zionist British journalist  were able to have a meeting with Abdul  Rahman Azzam Pasha, moderate Arab nationalist in 1948. He was an Egyptian diplomat opposed to the partition of Palestine into two parts.  Azzam served as Secretary General of the Arab League from 1945 to 1952.   In the Savoy Hotel in Jerusalem, the men discussed a plan of a political arrangement, security guarantees and an economic program for joint development of the Middle East.  Abba Eban was excited about it wanting to make an effort to reach an agreement.

Azzam cooly explained that the Arab world was not in a compromising mood, and that the plan was rational and logical, but the fate of nations is not decided by rational logic.

He went on to explain," Nations never concede; they fight.  You won't get anything by peaceful means or compromise, and can get things by force of arms, perhaps.  We shall try to defeat you.  I'm not sure we can but we'll try as we drove out the Crusaders, but then we lost Spain and Persia.  It's too late to talk of peaceful solutions.  The conflict of interests among nations is not amenable to anything but an armed clash."

The decision was not taken with logic but with blind fatalism.  This is why we have had to keep on fighting.  Their attitude hasn't changed a bit.  As I see it, much of the world has also adapted a very illogical outlook as well.

Israel Should Fight Rockets With Tennis Balls?

Nadene Goldfoot
Lebanon fired 4 rockets on Israel last week most likely by Hezb'allah, the Iranian proxy.  Israel provoked them by firing back.  The terrorists, being the bullies that they are, have screamed "NO FAIR"!

Lebanon has actually filed a UN complaint on Monday saying that the tiny Jewish state can't respond with artillery shells, saying this is in violation of UNSC Resolution 1701.  They figure it's okay to fire on Israel, which is an act of war, but that Israel can never respond.

Israel's self defense is a violation of Resolution 1701 and international law?  Lebanon's terrorists are trying to set a precedent in the UN that any response from Israel will be met with world condemnation.  It seemed to work with Goldstone, who finally changed his judgement,  so they're trying it again. " Under international law, Resolutions 1701 is at best a declarative statement of sentiment that lacks legal authority or enforcement power whatsoever . The recommendations spelled-out in the resolution can not be imposed on the parties concerned."

As for 1701, John Bolton was questioned and said that Hezb'Allah needs to be disarmed.  That was laid out and hasn't been accomplished.  Islamic supremacists have not met any of the conditions of 1701, so this is outrageous to attack Israel with impunity to get Israel to respond.  Their objective is to make Israel one big death camp, evidently.

You know bullies.
"No, Ma, who, me?  I didn't do it.  Aw, I just fired one little rocket into Israel.  Those meanies!  They fired 6 back at us!  They scared us!  Boo hoo!  You go get them, Ma."

Bullies never seem to tell the truth.  They fired 4 and the IDF pounded the launch sites with artillery shells.  The UN force called for restraint from both sides.  An organization associated with al-Qaida claimed responsibility for firing the rockets.  Israel holds Lebanon's government responsible for the attacks and expects them to keep the peace.

Energy Now  From Israel  Energy alternatives to Consider
Nadene Goldfoot
Watch the video below to learn about some new energy sources coming from Israel.  A pipeline bringing natural gas to Israel and Jordan has been attacked about 8 times now in the Sinai dominated by Egypt, so Israel is developing energy from other alternatives.

They have more start-up companies than any other country, so have been working on this much needed power.  They have some new concepts on wind power and even in controlling the climate.  Hydro electricity from unconventional power sources from 2,500 years ago going back to a priest is one of them.

Clean energy is the goal coming from Israel.  Right now $300 billion dollars a year goes to oil to power the USA.  "These incredible advances in the field of alternative energy sources could help revolutionize the way Americans generate power."

Muslim Brotherhood Goals
Nadene Goldfoot
Jihad is the Way by Mustafa Mashur, a former Muslim Brotherhood leader,  has been translated to tell us its ideology.  The Brotherhood says that Jihad should be waged against the "thieving gangs of Zion."  Mashur was the official leader of the Muslim Brotherhood from 1996 until he died in 2002.  I have a feeling that Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi, formerly of Egypt and now from Qatar might be today's leader.

Last week the Muslim Brotherhood party that won 40% of the votes last week stands for "Freedom and Justice" party.  The Salafists, another Islamist party, won 20%, so the Muslim fundamentalists have a sound majority of votes now.

The book goes on to say that "the problems of the Islamic world, such as Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea, and the Philippines, are problems of Islam and the Muslims, and they can be resolved neither by negotiation nor by recognizing the enemy's right to the Islamic land he stole.  Rather, the option is Jihad for Allah, and this is why Jihad is the way."

The Muslim world still does not want to accept the fact that Israel was created legally in the world in 1948 through the U.N., as well as the fact that people living there bought the land legally according to Ottoman Empire law as well from landowners.  Muslims came to this conclustion in 1967 after Israel won a war against all the Arab states who banned together to wipe her out, and lost.  Israel, as if by a miracle, had won against all odds against their massed force.  It was something the Muslims never expected to happen.

President Obama was never nervous about the party taking over, even being they are so well organized.  His administration has made recent overtures to them, such as opening up a dialogue.  Previously, it was considered a shunned terrorist party by Bush.

The author advised every Muslim, "Prepare yourself and train in the art of warfare.  You must learn the ways and manners and laws of war.  You must learn and embrace them and adhere to them, so that your Jihad will be the one accepted by Allah.  Not surprisingly, Mashur presched war against Israel.  "Honorable brothers have achieved Shahada (Martyrdom) on the soil of beloved Palestine during the years of 1947 and 1948 in their Jihad against the criminal, thieving gangs of Zion."

Following in his steps is Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi with his fatwa against all Jews which is to kill us all.    He lashed out in a sermon on January 9, 2009 calling on G-d to "kill them, down to the very last one."

My question is how do our leaders deal with such people who have a one tract mind and refuse to face facts?  They live in denial.  They would rather die and inherit their 72 virgins than live in a peaceful world in which Jews are back to their original home.

 A Doubting Thomas:   Prof.Thomas L. Thompson,
Theologian on the "Old Testament" and His Doubts About Our History and Religion and           Our Archaology Finds
Nadene Goldfoot
Being involved with many problems affecting Israel, and being an Israeli citizen, I was amazed with a researcher who is writing books that are not in step with our Jewish beliefs about our land of Israel.  He, in turn, cannot understand why Israelis gave him a negative review.  He thinks he knows so much more about our religion and land than we do.

Evidently Professor Thomas L. Thompson is not in any agreement with our Israel's past history.  He joins the Palestinians who have been busy trying to change our history as well, if not on purpose, in deed.  This professor, born in Detroit, Michigan, is now living in Copenhagan, Denmark with Danish citizenship, and from there gives opposing views of our Jewish history.  He is not Jewish, but a Professor of "The Old Testament "and is is a follower of the Copenhagen School of Theology.  He tries to connect or view side-by-side  the "Old Testament" and archaology, and to me he understands neither.    He is in a group of "scholars" that think that the bible's version of history is not supported by any archaeological evidence so far unearthed.  In fact, they even think that sites unearthed will undermine our Jewish history.  From what I've seen, it proves otherwise.  Some authors have written that recent archaeological discoveries appear to undermine Thompson's theories.  On such discovery is the Tel Dan Stele, found in northern Israel at Tel Dan uncovered in 1993.  He had written about it with his unusuaI interpretation   in one of his books published in 1999.  This form of publicity was in Aramaic, written by either the king of Damascus, Hazael, or one of his sons had incribed the words "Israel" and "House of David" and was telling about his conquest of this people.  I suggest he actually go to Israel and take a tour and learn about it.  It's authentic proof of our history.

The poor professor was outraged when his book was reviewed by the Jerusalem Post by Magen Broshi, former director of the Israel Department of Antiquities, who gave it a negative review.  I would imagine!   I have a feeling that this man has never talked to a Rabbi about our Torah, and has not seen the discoveries in Israel.  No doubt he cannot read Hebrew as well.

He states in a list of 10 facts of his in #8 that the history of Palestine and of its peoples is very different from the Bible's narratives, whatever political claims to the contrary may be.  An independent history of Judea during the Iron I and Iron II periods has little room for historicizing readings of the stories of I-II Samuel and I Kings.  So what does this mean?  That he is accepting the Egyptian versions?  What?

I believe that our Torah (first five books of the "Bible") is a beautiful real-life history, with all the good and the bad included in it.  We didn't cover up King David's exploits with women, or change the number of Solomon's wives to make us look better.  That was a trick done in Egyptian history.  You won't read anything bad about their people there.  Anything they didn't like was erased, the hard way.  I'd like to tell Thompson that our soldiers have used our Tanakh "Bible" when out on the field fighting, and by searching in it found the path needed to move to another part of the land.  The geography in the bible works!  We know that Moses wrote down the 1st five books.  He was educated in Egypt, knew how to write and was with slaves that were not scribes, so he had to do it. Our belief is that G-d dictated it to him.  Believe that or not, I really don't care.  It is magnificent!  It is awesome!  How one man could come up with such thinking, and especially at that time, is more than awesome.  It's brilliant.   He was so exact.  Our version of Torah has been most carefully copied for 4,000 years by scribes.  If one error was made, the whole thing was thrown out and they started over.

The only thing I see is that Christians have not translated certain words properly when they used it for material for their printed "Old Testament."  If you really want to do good research, you must go to the Hebrew original versions and study with a Rabbi, like a Chabad Rabbi who is into education and may have more patience with you.

The practical thing for this man is to have a discourse with archaeologists in Israel to learn anything.  I see in one source that he was prevented from being given a tenured position in any North American university because of a controversy provoked with the conservative American academia over his study :  The Historicity of the Patriarchal Narratives.  To me, that's a fantastic part, repleat with genealogy. Of course Moses wasn't alive in Abraham's day, but that was told to him and most likely also in our oral history.  Has he ever read the book about the Black fellow who went to Africa to find his family and came upon a whole tribe who could repeat their oral history?  It used to be quite a skill for ancient peoples.  Also, look at the shards with writing on them found in Ur, where Abraham and his family  originally came from.  There was a story of the flood, etc.  Things have been written down.

In his 10th listing comments, "already by the Persian period, Judaism is marked by multiplicity in social, religious and regional organization and the term should not be used as if identifying either a specific religion or people." I am left flabbergasted!    What, we shouldn't use Judaism for our identification even though we come from different places?  Sorry, Bub, but whether we are Ashkenazi, Sephardi or Mizrachi or Berber, or through Khazar conversions, we count ourselves as Jews as we follow the precept of Moses.  You have so much to learn.  Even the people with Moses in Egypt on the Exodus were a multitude, a mixture, all sharing the slavery racket of the Egyptians and used by them  to build .  Abraham started us off by being monotheistic and we grew which also includes picking up people along the way.

Now, if you really want to learn anything, get into the DNA of our Jewish people.  That can lead you to study about our paths and history.  That's what I'm into right now.  Get out of your chair in Denmark and do what so many of your people have done, visit Israel.  We're all deep into our history because of it.

When living in Safed, Israel from 1980-1985, we had a friend, who was a recent educated tour guide, take us on a tour to practice his new skills.  We went to many ruins and had the first hand lecture of the history of the places.  There wasn't any place that didn't fit with the history that I was familiar with.  It was an enhancement.  When Israel learns something, like the recent mikvah dug out or about the Western Wall, they publicize it with alterations of time, periods etc.  They're after truth, just like we all are.

Gosh, I hope Professor Thompson leaves his den and does some real research about our religion and home.  Whatever does he think when he says such things as "the biblical theology of monotheism has roots in the ideology of empire."  So that's what he thinks about believing in one G-d?

       Muslim Brotherhood Wins in Egypt
Nadene Goldfoot

I remember Obama thinking that there was nothing alarming if the Muslim Brotherhood would win in a democratic election in Egypt , and that would be so much better than Mubarak's leadership.  I didn't, knowing what they stood for.  Their creed is not of a nice peaceful religion like Christianity or Judaism, but of hatred for all Jews everywhere.  (Read Stand With Us- list on Muslim Brotherhood).  His father and step-father may have been Muslims, but he himself had to have not been appraised about the goals of this group-to destroy Israel and kill all Jews everywhere.  It isn't a lot of hot steam, either.  They believe it so much that there is a fatwa out on us.
80% of the Egyptians voted in the first round of their new parliamentary elections and voted them in.  I might add that many Egyptians do not read or write.  They had to depend on pictures in order to vote.  Therefore, they are not as informed as our people who can but probably don't vet the candidates they are voting for very well. Unfortunaely, their reputation is that they have been the best organized of all the parties.   The political front group is called "The Democratic Alliance for Egypt."  They won at least 45% of the vote with another 20-25% for the Islamic Bloc, arm of the Salafists, who have created several parties.  One is the Hizb al-Noor.    The Salafists practice a puritanical form of Islam alien to Egypt.  Both parties have the same Islamist ideology with hatred of Israel and the USA,  and we Americans have been shelling out how many billions to them?

Simon Wiesenthal's Center brings out that the Muslim Brotherhood is an enemy of democracy and peace.  They have an obsession of anti-Jewish conspiracy theories.  I believe it is them that even claims that a recent shark was Jewish, and I'm talking about the kind that swims in oceans with fins.   The Brotherhood is not democratic at all.  Look at how they treat women and their Coptic Christian minority.

The Muslim Brotherhood is Egypt's Moderate party!  Heaven help them and us.  The Salafists, coming in 2nd with lots of power are the autocrats.  "All the while, Salafists will inject Egypt’s public space with a Saudi form of rigid, outdated, and intolerant Islam." from Husain at CNN.
PA in Denial   Israel Has World-Given Right to Exist
Nadene Goldfoot
A Palestinian Authority (PA) ambassador to India, Adli Sadeq,  was quoted as explaining that they know Israel exists, but they reject their right to exist.  I say that due to the fact that they were accepted as a state through the U.N. and were declared a state in May 1948, they are the same as any other declared state in the world.  If the PA can't understand this legal act, they are in denial.

It's not only Hamas but Fatah both feel this way.  The Palestinians don't want to accept the fact that the Ottoman Empire was on the wrong side by going along with Germany, and the Axis lost the First World War and the Second World War.  England was given the responsiblity to manage "Palestine" and agreed in the creation of the Jewish Homeland.  Even one of their Sheiks thought it was a tremendous idea and was in favor of it.  The land was a waste of sand and mosquito filled swamps.  There was no country of Palestine; it was simply the name of the region.  It was fallow, dormant, unwanted land that had once been two  Jewish countries called Judea and Israel. From the time they were destroyed and people were carted off as slaves in 70 CE to 1948, not much had changed except for the re-development of the Jewish towns from  the 1800's from returning Jews.  Mark Twain gave a lovely accounting of his trip through the land in the 1800's as to how undeveloped and undesirable it was.

We Jews were getting tired of anti-semitism and being kicked around the world after almost 2,000 years and had always prayed to return to Jerusalem.  We had our leaders working with the English right early on to let us have a Jewish Homeland, a much needed refuge, in our old stomping grounds where we were destined to be according to G-d.  See, our family was led out of Ur, which is in Iraq, in order to establish a Jewish Homeland by G-d in the first place.

The PA doesn't believe we have a right to exist, doesn't respect us, and by feeling this way is avoiding making a decent life for their people. All the men do is sit around and make and shoot bombs.   All they have to do is to read some history and they will find out that they have been so wrong.  We Israelis/Jews know they feel this way. We're still trying to live with them.  We're not occupiers.  We're owners.  We were here 5,000 years ago, before we wandered into Egypt because of a drought and became slaves for 400 years.  We came back and are back.  Get used to it and get a life.  Also, by the way, I believe that India is a friend of Israel.  The hate-spewing ambassador is wasting his time.  Mumbai (Bombay) bombing was a good example of the PA love token.

For not recognizing us and treating us like the plague, the PA is sure dependant on Israel.  They do not have electricity or many needed things without us yet they bite the hand that feeds them.  Is Abbas just recognizing this fact?  It's better to get along with your neighbor than kill him, for you may need him someday.  The PA has set up an example of how to treat them.  Only our Judaism keeps us from following suit.

Lebanon Fired at Northern Israel
Nadene Goldfoot
The border between Lebanon and Israel has been quiet in the past few years.  When I lived in Safed, Major Hadad of the Christian Militia guarded it and we were kept safe from terrorists for a while until things heated up around 1982 when they went into Sabra and Shatilla and overstepped their boundaries by executing the Palestinian terrorists.  Now Hadad has died and I don't think the Christian group is active with us anymore.

In October of 2009, these same Lebanese terrorists fired a Katyusha on the Upper Galille and wounded an Israeli.  The IDF answered with a half dozen rounds of fire.  Terrorists seem to keep trying, but the IDF is prepared to protect Israel.

In January of 2009 three missiles were fired and exploded near Kiryat Shimona without causing damage.  This is my favorite town with a department store similar to Meier &Frank.  During my ulpan days of 1980, my co-student friend went to that town over a vacation period and couldn't leave as she was in the bomb shelter for the whole time and it was unsafe to leave it.  We had no cell phones in those days and so we worried about what had happened to her. Many American Jews had made aliyah and lived up there, and they were very upset. They weren't used to living under such stress.  The northern Galilee was being constantly attacked from Lebanon then, and we in Safed were not very far away.  I think we drove to Kiryat Shimona in 1/2 hour.

August found a Lebanese army soldier opening fire on Israeli soldiers manning the northen border.  That was the first border incident in a year.

Now, four or more Katyusha missiles from Lebanon were fired into northern Israel last night.  They exploded near the border  of Ma'alot and Kfar V'radim and caused some damage to a building.  It was thought  that explosions came from the Lebanese side of the border at first.

IDF forces fired back and considers this a serious incident.  The Lebanese army is responsible for the prevention of firing at Israel.

CAIRO'S DEMONSTRATION AGAINST JEWS
Nadene Goldfoot
Cairo's Egyptians have been demonstrating all week about their own disorganized politics, but took time to have a Muslim Brotherhood rally against Jews and Israel purposely planned on the 1947 partition plan's anniversary which called for the establishment of a Jewish state They threatened to do this over a week ago.

They went to Cairo's most prominent mosque on Friday and of course had a venomous anti-Israel protest vowing to "one day kill all Jews."  About 5,000 people joined into this demonstration.  Throughout the event, the Muslim Brotherhood activists chanted: "Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv, judgment day has come."

The Muslim Brotherhood seems to be the leader of politics in Egypt as it is the best organized group, but the people have also showed an interest in the more Islamic parties as well.  The Brotherhood's charter calls for the destruction of Israel and Jews.  (See Stand With Israel and my blog article)

At a time when Sadat and then Mubarak were in charge, the Muslim Brotherhood was outlawed.  The leading religious leader, Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi was kicked out of the country.  He found refuge in Qatar, "that tiny Persian Gulf state" next door to Saudi Arabia with the Emir who embraced him.  Qaradawi has also called for the killing of all Jews as well as the destruction of Israel.  He tells people that he is a moderate, and I'm afraid that many good Americans have bought into this.   Qatar holds the rotating presidency this year of the Arab League.

Arabs Against Jews in Jerusalem  Million Prepare for Demonstration

Nadene Goldfoot
A million Egyptian Arabs are planning a march against Judaization of Jerusalem! Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt are behind this demonstration in Cairo to take place a week from Friday, during our Thanksgiving holiday.

They will leave from the Al-Azhar mosque, the largest in Egypt and walk to Tahir Square.  Leading the march will be Ahmed a-Taib, the highest Islamic cleric in Egypt and most important in the Sunni Arab world who is the head of the Al-Azhar mosque.  He's pushing everyone to join them.  Earlier this year he met with Khaled Masha'al, a big-shot terrorist, to work out a plan which Hamas could use to achieve the goal of eliminating Jews from Jerusalem.

They've also set up a committee to stop the progress of Zionists to Judaize Jerusalem.  Muhammad Amarra, chairman, cites Jewish presense to that of the Crusader occupation.  I'd say that they're a little late by about over 3,000 years, as Kings Saul and David and Solomon made it quite clear that Jerusalem was a Jewish city.  By this they may mean to destroy any Jewish article in the city.

They plan on "defending" the Al-Aqsa mosque on the Temple Mount.  All politicians and even the Coptic Christians are expected to endorse their platform.  They intend to remove Jews from Jerusalem.  They're calling on all "liberal and freedom-seeking groups" to support the Arab effort to liberate "Al-Quds" the Arabic name for Jerusalem.

What American politician was unperturbed when it was brought up that the Muslim Brotherhood could become a leading party in Egypt's Arab Spring?  Remember?  Here we may have the whole country of Egypt trying to wipe out Israel again.

The big problem is the mosque over the Temple Mount.  Probably the Muslims have been destroying anything Jewish under it.  It has even been wondered if the Ark of the Covenant wasn't under there.  Here Abbas's Fatah with Hamas have accused Israel of destroying artifacts and it is they who intend to do this along with forcing out all Jews.

Jerusalem is not a word in the Koran.  They know our history, they just  don't intend to accept it.  It interferes with their ambition of a complete take-over of Israel.

However, this Saturday in Cairo started off with a riot of their own in Tahir Square.  A tent was asked to be moved by the police, and the occupants refused, so it ended with 600 wounded and one dead.  Hopefully, the citizens of Egypt will have had enough demonstrations for the time being and will not attend next week.

Palestinian Qassam Rockets That Hit Israel
Nadene Goldfoot

Since 2001 Qassam rockets, unguided missiles, have been raining down on southern Israel, usually hitting Sderot, the closest Israeli city.  They started off with a range of hitting only 1.9 miles away and built up to 6.2 miles away and now can reach a 12 mile radius.  Considering the narrowness of Israel, they don't need to reach much farther.

What it started off as was a simple steel artilery rocket developed and used by the Izz ad-Dinal Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas.  The name was of a militant Syrian preacher who died in 1935 and was one of the reasons of the 1936 Arab Revolt against the British.  This preacher had died in a guerrilla raid against the British in 1935.  They have created 3 different models.  Actually, all types of rockets are fired into Israel.  The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Al Quds rockets are called Qassams by Israel and other countries.  Since 2000, the Palestinian rockets have killed 22 Israelis and one Thai.

These may be made right in Gaza, and their design uses common tools and parts.  They use sugar and potassium nitrate, a common fertilizer  to make them move. The warhead is filled with TNT and urea nitrate, another fertilizer.  The TNT is smuggled in through the Rafah border tunnels into the Gaza Strip.

By 2006 a more advanced Qassam was able to hit as far as Ashkelon.  Israel looked at them as a more psychological than physical threat at first.  IDF used the Red Color warning system in Sderot, Ashkelon and other targets.  This is radar that detects rockets being launched, and used loudspeakers to tell people to take cover.  They had between 15 to 45 seconds before impact.  Now a system called Iron dome has been built to intercept rockets before they hit that has been in use since March 2011, but so far is kept only in the larger cities.

On July 23, 2004, a Palestinian family actually tried to physically stop the Brigades from setting up a Qassam rocket launcher outside their house and the brigade shot one member of the family, the Arab boy, and wounded 5 others.

In 2009 They were able to reach Ashdod and  Beersheba with the more advanced Katusha and Grad missiles.

In October 2010 five children and 3 women were injured after a Qassam rocket exploded near a crowded residential area of Tel As-sultan in Rafah.  Hamas has been condemned for storing explosive material near civilians.   In August another explosion wounded 58 and destroyed 7 houses of the Arabs in Gaza.  In trying to kill Jews, they have managed to kill more of their own civilians.

Here it is 2011, almost 2012 and they are still raining down helter skelter.  What makes me angry is that the media other than Israel and pro-Israeli media do not understand the damage and deaths that these cause.  One website I had just read thought that because they may be home made are not something to fear and is listed under resources below.

The word "Qassam" usually means the deadly home-made variety while those from Lebanon are called "Katyushas."  Katyushas are a generic class of rocket.  In 2007 the Palestinian Islamic Jihad or Al Quds fired 34%, Hamas fired Qassams or 22%, Fatah fired 8%, the Popular Resistance committes fired 6% and 30% came from unidentified enemy in Gaza.

In 2001 only 4 were fired at Israel.  2002: 35, 2003: 155; 2004: 281, 2005: 179, 2006: 946, 2007: 896, and they hit the jackpot in 2008 by firing 2,048 at Israel.  Israel finally retaliated in 2008 with Operation Cast Lead, and then got bawled out by the world for trying to  protect themselves.  All this time there was no country speaking out and advising the Palestinian Arabs that they shouldn't spend their time taking all these shots at Israel if they wanted to live peacefully in this world.  All during this time Israel warned the world that they would retaliate and to stop, but they didn't.  The Arabs of Gaza sped up the attacks, instead, like they were daring: "Bring it on."  This led to the UN's Goldstone Report blaming Israel which he changed later after the damage was done besmirching Israel's name.  This same Goldstone Report is possibly very responsible for groups in the USA to continue to punish Israel by boycotting and divesting from Israel all products.  They are trying to delegitimize Israel's existence.  This has now become one of the largest problems Israelis and Jews are facing.

Now that Libya has been under attack and Ghadafi is dead, weapons have been smuggled into Gaza, no doubt.  That's where some of the more lethal and long-range onces have been coming from.   Even the newer Qassam 3 made in Gaza can now reach out 12 miles away.

These weapons rain down in southern Israel without any aiming.  They fall on civilians only.  The distance has been growing that they can reach.  People have 12 seconds to run for a bomb shelter.

In just this month of November, rockets have come into Israel on the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 13th and 15th of the month for a total of 11 rockets.  No one ever knows where they will land.  Though Israel's Iron Dome since March 27th has stopped 24 rockets from coming into several larger cities, they cannot afford an Iron Dome for everyplace.  It costs $100,000 for every interception, and this does not include the cost of creating and setting up an Iron Dome.

We here who live safely in the USA cannot imagine trying to live a life where you may really feel you are Henny Penny running to tell the king that the sky is falling.  We shudder thinking of an asteroid that could fall out of the sky.  How would Americans feel about living through years of shelling from 12 miles away and have 12 seconds to run to a bomb shelter?  One bout of that and you're done for the day, most likely.  You'd be afraid to even go to the bathroom.  Welcome to a world that the UN pretends doesn't exist but that Jews prayed for 2,000 years to regain.  And yes, it's worth it to us.  Ha Shem said, "but I didn't promise you a rose garden."  He's making us work for it, I think.  We've gone through so much that we're not about to give it up.

From October-70 Rockets and Mortars Rain Into Southern Israel From Gaza
Nadene Goldfoot
Two more long range Qassam rockets were fired into Southern Israel aimed at Kibbutz Sha'ar Hanegev in the Western Negev region  and destroyed a farm building near the kindergarten classroom. The kindergarten was also severely damaged.  Luckily it had already closed for the day, and the children remained safe.

This was the 4th time that Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosor, had to write to Ban Ki-Moon, the Secretary council about saying something like condemning Hamas about doing this.  Israel is enduring shrapnel hits in their homes, school and playground and fire in their streets.

Such information never gets into our Oregonian, so I imagine it doesn't make the news into other papers as well, and Americans are not aware of these continual attacks.  Israel answered today with their air force and that will probably get into papers.  Israel has promised that they will retaliate everytime they are hit by these terrorists.  The IAF hit a tunnel in the terrorist center in N. Gaza.

Iran Blames Israel For Stuxnet Virus, then Stars: Now Facing Duqu Virus

 Nadene Goldfoot

Nadene Goldfoot

Iran had experienced a computer virus last year called the Stuxnet.  Since then in April they have experienced another attack called Stars.

They just had a mysterious blast SW of Tehran at a missile base that killed 17 in the explosion.  The day after the attack they found their computers were hit with the Duqu virus.

For a country that has called Israel every detestible name under the sun and has thrown in the threats of destroying it, this is good news since their missiles with atomic death are driven by their computer system.  Whoever has come up with such a non-violent way to stop attacks on Israel, the United States and any other freedom loving country, I cheer for you.  Sanctions haven't helped to stop Iran in their mission to have atomic weapons, and some countries are even unwilling to do that much.  What makes Iran different from Korea or Pakistan is that they have been so blatant in announcing what evil they plans of destruction they have  to bring down on the heads of Israel and her friends.  Their hatred for Israel is like a vendetta, a blood feud.

Iran testing their huge shabab missiles to be used on
USA and Israel according to their many threats
It makes me wonder if Ahmadinejad isn't related to Haman, Chief minister of Ahasuerus, king of Persia, who wanted to order all the Jews in Persia to be killed.  He didn't like Queen Esther's Uncle Mordecai, so he schemed for the annihilation of all the country's Jews.  He wound up being hanged along with all his sons.  Actually, Haman may have been a  descendant of Agag, King of Amalek.  The Amaleks were an  original hateful group against Jews.  We remember this historical event with the holiday of Purim.
Update:  We need another virus for their computers.

What King of Security Does Security Council Work For?

Nadene Goldfoot
Last week Israel was violently attacked in a huge barrage of 39 missiles raining into the civilian population of southern Israel  which resulted in one death, 16 wounded, 14 traumatized, not to mention that one million people were forced to stay in their bomb shelters at home for the entire week.  This means that 200,000 children were kept out of school and all work came to a standstill.  Did the United Nations Security Council bemoan the deed?  Not a word came out of this council.

Ambassador Ron Prosor, former Israeli ambassador to the UK and now to the UN,  spoke yesterday to this body dealing with security of its members and said this surely should have called for a reaction, but heard nothing from them in condemning the attacks.  What gives?

Isn't it about time that this group speaks up and tells the Palestinians to stop?  What are they afraid of, or are they cheering on the side?  Are they betting as to who will win?  This isn't how the security council is supposed to react.  Is this what the USA supports with money?  It seems to me just about how Europe reacted to Jews' being treated by the Nazis.  Remember Kristallnacht?  It happened on November 9-10, 1938.  There wasn't any U.N. then, and no one nation stood up to stop the attacks on Jews, which resulted in the death of 6 million Jews and millions of other minority groups.

Does the security council think that there has to be a certain number of people killed in an attack to react or even send a postcard of condolence?  The only reason that Israel has a small number of people killed is that they have a small number of people to begin with that have worked very hard to protect their citizens from attack and have bomb shelters for a large number of their population.  They are not a people ready to sacrifice life in order to make a point.  The philosophy of Israel is for "life", not death.  I'd like to see the members receive such bombardment in their countries and find out how they would feel about it.  Do they not remember the attacks in their countries during WWII?

The Security Council does not endorse security, at least for Israel at all.  Get out of the bar and grill, fellows, and do what you're supposed to do or hang it up and go home.  I think enough money on your organization has been wasted.  The "Palestinian" Arabs have been taking enough shots at Israelis.  Enough is Enough!

Rocks and Rockets Keep Flying
Nadene Goldfoot
Kassam rockets from Gaza attacked this weekend hitting a foreign worker who was taken to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon  Two missiles had hit overnight south of this port city which is home to oil, gas and electric infrastructures.

It looks like the Islam Jihad group is responsible, but Hamas is held responsible for what goes on in Gaza.  Egypt has warned Hamas that they must stop the attacks and that Egypt cannot broker a cease fire if they don't cease firing.

Also, Judea and Samaria received terrorist attacks.  A man was hit in Samaria from an Arab fire bomb while he was driving his car early Sunday morning.  This was from about 30 Arab rioters throwing rocks and fire bombs on motorists on Highway 60, which is the Jerusalem-Hevron Highway.  They have had deadly attacks at times.

Arabs also attacked IDF on patrol in the El Aroub Sundar Judean village  which is also on Highway 60.  They threw rocks at them, and they responded with riot control measures.

In Judea on Saturday the IDF arrested two wanted terrorists.  One terrorist was caught near Bethlehem which is south of Jerusalem and another stopped near Shechem which is north of the capital.

An Israeli worker was attacked by terrorists from Gaza while he was doing maintenance work on the security fence.  There was a 2 hour gunfight in which the 2 terrorists were killed.  I might add that the terrorists have made it very clear that they're out to kidnap IDF or probably any Israeli to be held for more ransom of terrorist prisoners, so that any person is in jeopardy of being either killed or kidnapped today.

Abraham  and Isaac and the Akedah and Eid al-Adha
Nadene Goldfoot

How many million make a billion?  It would take 1,000 million to equal one billion.  With about 7 billlion people on earth today,  Jews number only about 13 million in the world.    Jews make up 0.02% of the world population.  Most Jews live in either Israel or the United States.

Christians make up 33% of the total world population with 2.1 billion  followers.  It is the state religion of 16 nations: Armenia, Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Denmark, El Salvador, England, Greece, Georgia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Norway, and the Vatican City, of course.  The Roman Catholic Church is predominate with 1.17 billion or about half of the Christian population in the world.

There are 1.57 billion Muslims in the world.  that's 1/4 of the world population.    Fewer than 15% of them are Arabs.  The highest Muslim Arab populations are Egypt with 79 million, Iraq with 32 million , Saudi Arabia with 25 million, Yemen with 23 million and Syria with 20 million.  Iranians are not Arabs but are Persians and they have 74 million Muslims.  Muslims have about 40 countries where they are the majority of the population.

Abraham was the father of both Ishmael and Isaac.  Ishmael's mother was the Egyptian handmaid of Sarah, Abraham's wife who later gave birth to Isaac.  This was the beginning of the rift between Arabs and Jews, probably.  Abraham is the father of Judaism, breaking away from the city of Ur in the Chaldees, which is today's Iraq, where they had been worshipping clay idols as gods.  Being that Abraham's father, Terah, was an idol maker, Abraham knew that this was not a truth, and came to believe in one unseen god.  In order to make a clean break in habits for his family, he took his father and the rest of his family and migrated to a place where Canaanites and Philistines lived and pitched his tent.  He visited Egypt, then returned to live in Hebron.  His nephew, Lot, had migrated with him but separated only to get into trouble with the Elamites, so Abraham fought with the kings of Elam, Shiar and their allies in order to rescue him.  This is when G-d spoke to him telling him that his seed would inherit the land "from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates, and tested his loyalty to him with the ordering the sacrifice of Isaac. "And He said, "Please take your son, your only one, whom you love--Isaac---and go to the land of Moriah; bring him up there as an offering upon one of the mountains which I shall tell you." G-d did not say, "Slaughter him," because He did not intend for Isaac to be slaughtered, but only that he be brought up to the mountain and be prepared as an offering. The Torah does not use the word which signifies the slaying of the sacrificial victim.  From the outset, there was no intention of accepting a human sacrifice, although Abraham was at first not aware of this.  Mount Moriah is the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Abraham was stopped by an angel of G-d who had been testing him. "Do not stretch out your hand against the lad nor do anything to him for now I know that you are a G-d-fearing man, since you have not withheld your son, your only one, from Me".  (Being that Abraham made all the provisions to carry this out, though not wanting to, I believe that human sacrifice at that time and place was not unheard of, though Abraham always had sacrificed animals. It's hard for us to realize that this event occurred about 4,000 years ago.  Look how people have changed in the last 391 years from 1620 when the Pilgrims sailed on the Mayflower from Holland to Plymouth Rock.  They believed in witches and burned women at the stake if they were found to be one.

Muslims will be making a pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia this week for their annual hajj.  All Muslims are expected to do this once in their lives.  2.5 million were there in 2010.  Many of the concepts they will be remembering are linked to the life of Ibrahim or Abraham.  One of the holy days, Eid al-Adha, is about the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son, only in the Koran it is Ishmael that is the son to be sacrificed.  The Ishmaelites lived in N Arabia between Egypt and the Assyrian border who traditionally were the Arab descendants of Ishmael, and modern Arabs still claim this descent.  They are mentioned in Gen. 25:12 ff.  They also had been divided into 12 tribes, just like the Jews' 12 tribes.

The story, first found in the "Old Testament or Torah and later in the 600's CE of the Koran also says that G-d intervened and spared the boy's life where the son is Isaac. ishmael and his mother Hagar had already been sent away.   Jews remember this event as the Akedah found in Genesis 22.  This is read as the portion of the Law on the 1st day of Rosh ha-Shanah, or the Birthday of the world, the Jewish New Year.

At Bet Alpha in the Beit She'an Valley in NE Israel, a mosaic floor was found in a 6th century CE synagogue of the binding of Isaac to the altar.  It pictures two young men waiting with the ass, the ram caught in the thicket, and divine intervention in the form of a hand with Abraham laying Isaac on the Altar.  This is the site of a Jewish village from the 5-6th CE where Kibbutz Bet Alpha now lies.  It is north from Jerusalem and you get to it before you get to Nazareth.

Islamist Jihad Terrorists Taking Over Gaza

Nadene Goldfoot
Hamas terrrorists are  being overtaken by an extreme terrorist group in Gaza called the Islamist Jihad.  They seem to be responsible for the recent barrage of 39 missiles fired into Israel hitting everplace from the border to Ashkelon, which is the farthest city from Gaza and contains the area's main hospital, the Barzilai Medical Center, treating Arabs and Jews alike.

They were invited to Cairo to talk about a cease fire, which of course would give the terrorists time to re-position  their new portable missile launcher and  take a lunch break.  It didn't happen, but Israel's Knesset has given the IDF to go in and stop these missile shooters, which seems to have brought the shooting to a half for now.

By their name, I wondered if this group isn't an outgrowth of the Muslim Brotherhood, the most organized politcal group in Egypt?  The answer is that they are.  Their goals are the same;  the destruction of Israel.  They plan to replace the tiny state with an Islamist state.  They started in Beirut Lebanon and were supported by Hezbollah terrorism, then branched out to an office in Damasus,  and are also found in Judea and Samaria's Arab population in Hebron and Jenin and of course have become predominant in Gaza.  What is worrisome is that they have been known to recruit chemical engineers into their web of destruction.

There was a point where Hamas was trying to stop their rocket attacks, but have decided to just sit back and let them be the bulldogs in their plot to destroy Israel.  They have no intention to sign any peace treaties with this goal in prominence.  Like Hamas, they do not discriminate between civilians and soldiers.  They aim in a general direction of a highly populated Southern Israel and the population has 12 seconds to run for a bomb shelter.  Heaven help you if you are disabled in anyway.  One Israeli fellow in his 50's was hit in the stomach with shrapnel and died from his wounds.  Many were injured while others were so emotionally upset that they had to be hospitalized as well.

Can Voices of Peace from Arab Jewish Community Center Combat Anti-Semitism?

Can Voices of Peace from Arab Jewish Community Center in Jaffa, Israel Combat Anti-Semitism?
Finding Jewish Ancestors in Many Lands
Nadene Goldfoot
"The forces of genetic mixing are so powerful that everyone in the world has Jewish ancestors, though the amount of DNA from those ancestors in a given individual may be small.  In fact, everyone on earth is by now a descendant of Abraham, Moses, and Aaron-if indeed they existed."  Steve Olson in Mapping Human History:  Genes, Race, and Our Common Origins page 114. "

Others have found that many populations in area such as northern Iraq or south ex-USSR, Caucasus, even to the edge of India, and more than half of the population of Afghanistan are...of Jewish descent.  It is believed that they are parts of the 10 lost tribes.

After the destruction of the Kingdom of Israel by the Assyrians, the majority of the 10 Lost tribes were spread at the extremities of that empire to populate it and act as a buffer to potential invaders.  We are finding  them today through DNA where they settled.  This includes most of Kurdistan, which also has Q1b haplogroup people (today making up 5% of the Jewish population) .  Many of our ancestors were converted to Islam at the time of the creation of Islam by Mohammed in the 600's.  However, many retain some practices dating back from their Jewish heritage, often without them knowing about these customs and their origin.  A mission was sent from Israel in the 1960's to 1970's to identify these "lost" tribes, and they had been found.

Our house is split like brothers found themselves to be in America's Civil War between the North and the South.  Long ago our 10 tribes were carried off  and some became assimilated into what later became a Moslem population, whether by force or by choice.

When Jerusalem fell in 70 CE, some Jews were able to remain by hiding, and their descendants are there today, but many were taken as slaves.  Some left and set up villages along the way from the Mediterranean to North Eastern Europe.  then traveled through the homeland referred to as the Levant, then Anatolia and Greece and sailed to Italy, which is not that far away if you look at today's map.  Rome in 70 CE had a large Jewish population already and some Romans and Greeks had  even converted to Judaism.  This had happened during the time of Roman rule.  Romans had changed the names of Judea and Samaria and Israel to the name "Palestine" to wipe out the Jewish presence after 135 CE when Bar Kokba had a final showdown and had  a rebellion against Rome.

Some Jews who were in Anatolia, a part of Turkey since 1453 CE but originally under Persian and Roman rule,   joined the cities of Byzantine Jews there.  Others kept moving north in Italy, though the Southern Italian peninsula was the first home for the new communities of Jews.

In the 4th century Jews kept moving north into Northern Italy until the 10th century when they went north into the Rhineland (Germany) and set up communities which became the cultural center of the northern European Jews.

They moved NE after the 11th century and settled in Eastern Germany and Poland.  This area became the largest Jewish Diaspora community in Europe before WWII which was when 6 million Jews were slaughtered.  It was in 1012 CE that Jews migrated from Germany to Poland near Bialystock and Grodno.

The founding families of Lithuania are said to have come from Babylonia in early medieval times.  There had been a plague in 1347 followed by a 1348 migration of Jews going from Eastern Germany to Lemberg and Temopol with Hungarian Jews from 1349 to 1360 migration to Temopol, also.  The Jews of Kiev were a mixture of Byzantine, Western European and maybe even the few Khazarians who had converted to Judaism as well as other Jews living in Kiev and had moved into the Crimea in 1350. This is when the plague finally ended.

There was also a Lithuanian migration of 1445 SE of the Crimea.  At the same time Byzantine Jews and the Judaic Khazars might have gone to Khakov from SE to the north of Russia.   By 1495 Lithuanian Jews also migrated to Bialystock, Poland.  Whenever a plague broke out, the Jews were thrown out of some German town and went into Poland.  Jews were accused of creating plagues because they didn't get sick and die to the degree that others did.  This was because of Jews keeping their kashrut laws which contained a lot of sanitary habits, such as bathing and washing hands before eating, weekly dips in the mikvah, and dietary cleanliness habits.

In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue, and this was the time that Jews were forced to leave Spain and flee to Portugal, who later also expelled them.  Many Spanish Jews at that time became Conversos, pretending to convert to Christianity but practicing Judaism in secret.  Today there are Spaniards who through DNA testing have found they match Ashkenazi surnames.  In their family's history they may remember such things as not eating pork and washing their hands before eating.  Some say that everyone in Castille had Jewish ancestors from there.

It is believed that Jews arrived in Central Asia about 4,000 years ago.  There was a large population of Jews in Georgia.  Many think that the entire population of Georgia can point to a Jewish grandmother or grandfather, but this would have to be proved through DNA testing. Who was from Georgia?  Joseph Stalin.

It's now discovered that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has Jewish roots.  He was seen in a picture holding up his identity card in March 2008 showing his former surname was Sabourjian, which is a Jewish name meaning "cloth weaver".  His family converted to Islam when he was 4 years old.  They came from Aradan. He has been continually berating Jews and Israel.  He calls for Israel's destruction at every opportunity and calls it a "fake regime".  He has said so many degrading things about Jews, calling Zionists the most detested people in all humanity, and that the Holocaust was a myth, used by Jews just to gain sympathy.   It is typical when people convert of degrading the religion they left.  People think he is overcompensating to hide his past by blasting Jew and Israel.   Not too recently there were about 25,000 Jews living in Iran, down from an original 100,000 to 150,000.  Since the Ayatollah Khomeini Islamic Revolution, Jews there are defamed often by the Mullahs.

Evidence has turned up that Gaddafi of Libya and also even Hitler had Jewish connections. Yes, we know that Bernie Madoff is Jewish and he took advantage of everyone, Jew and non Jew alike.   This certainly tells me that it's what you learn from your mother and your wife family and community that counts, and that your genes just give you your  capabilities, such as leadership skills, but not your morality.  What's amazing is that anti-semitism is still so rampant and as it turns out, many of these  people may have Jewish ancestors!

Today in Israel there is a Choir group called "The Voice of Peace, who just performed for Pope Benedict XVI in Jaffa made up of Jews and Muslims with Dudu Fisher singing songs in Hebrew, English and Arabic.  I hope the Pope recognizes the significance of this project.  Enjoy.  They sing of peace.

How Arabia Came to be Home to Jews Hated by Muhammad

Nadene Goldfoot
1,000 years before Mohammed the Prophet was born, Jews were already experiencing an exile from their homeland, Judea and were sitting by the waters of Babylon saying "If I forget thee O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its cunning.  A Reverend Parks commented that "the religion which was developing into a universalistic ethical monotheism never lost its root in The Land.  The land of Israel is intertwined far more intimately into the religious and historic memories of the people; for their connection with the country has been of much longer duration---in fact it has been continuous from the 2nd millennium BCE to to modern times.  It is the emotional centre which has endured through the whole of their period of "exile" and has led to constant returns or attempted returns, culminating in our own day in the Zionist Movement."

Israel was a nation in about 1220 BCE, almost 2,000 years before the first Arab invasion began.  Arabist scholar Alfred Guillaume reports that Jews probably first settled in Arabia when Samaria fell in 721 BCE. All they had to do was travel south and follow the Red Sea and they were there.  It was not that far.

A self-contained Jewish military colony in Aswan and upper Egypt, found just a few years ago, was founded after Samaria fell.  The Jewish settlements in Arabia were from the fugitives escaping from the old northern capital of the Hebrews.  In the 1st and 2nd centuries CE...Arabia offered a near asylum to the Jews who had been the victims of the ruthless Romans.

Jewish and Christian settlements were established in places in Arabia, spreading Aramaic and Hellenistic culture.  Jews and Judaised Arabs were everywhere in Najran, a southern Arabian Christian center.  Jews were also in Yathrib, later renamed Medina as agriculturists and artisans.  Medina is abut 280 miles north of Mecca.  The Jewish tribes that settled there were the Banu Nadir and Banu Quraiza.  Pagan Arabs then arrived attracted by the richness of the town.  They became clients of the Jews, then later dominated them.  At the time there was no stable government.  It was torn apart by the feuds of the rival Arab tribes of Aus and Khazraj while the Jew tried to maintain a balance of power.  The Jews were disliked as they were wealthier.  With the presence of Muhammad, the Arabs attacked and eliminated the Jews.

In the last half of the 5th century, Persian Jews escaped persecution and fled to Arabia.  By the 6th century, Christian writers wrote about the Jewish community that remained in the Holy Land.  Tiberius in Judea was most important.  In Arabia in the kingdom of Himyar on the Red Sea's east coast, it was popular to convert to Judaism for important people.  The rule of this kingdom stretched over South Arabia.  Then commoners and the royal family adopted Judaism with the Rabbis from Tiberius begin part of the King Du Noas's entourage and serving as his envoys in negotiations with Christian cities.

When Islam was becoming popular, Jews were dominating the economic life of Arabia holding lots of the best land and made up at least half of the population of Medina.  A Jewish settlement also was to the north of the Gulf of Aqaba.  Jews of the Hijaz made many converts among the Arab tribesmen.  These Judean refugees, Jews, had resettled to become prosperous, influential Arabian settlers.  They prospered because they had superior knowledge of agriculture and irrigation, were industrious and had the energy.  Jewish prosperity was a challenge to the Arabs, especially the Quraysh in Mecca and tribes in Medina.  Muhammad was a member of the Quraysh tribe, and they coveted all that the Jews were accomplishing but didn't have any of the necessary skills.

There we have the background of how Muhammed became so bitter as to write in his Koran such things as kill a Jew if you see him behind a rock.   He himself even had one or two Jews...murdered and no blood money was paid to their next of kin.  He was coming into his power and couldn't abide pockets of disaffected Jews around his base so they had to be eliminated.  The Jews would not convert to Islam.

A tribe of Jews were suspected of treachery and were forced to put down their arms and leave their homes so that the land and goods could be taken by the Muslims.  Other tribes were afraid to come to their aid, such as the Qurayza and the Aus.  Muhammad said, "Two religions may not dwell together on the Arabian Peninsula."  His successors, Abu Bakr and Omar I,  carried out the edict.  Jews were slaughtered and exterminated.  The Jewish dhimmi thus evolved; the robbery of freedom and political independence and taking of property of Jews in Arab lands until 1948.

Well, Israel is not sitting on the Arabian peninsula.  Israel as a country is a Jewish state with over 1 million Muslims living there along with Christians and possibly other religious groups as well.  It was a haven for Asian boat people.   There are no Jews allowed to live in Saudi Arabia ever since Muhammad made his decree.  It is 100% Sunni Muslims with an absolute monarchy with about 27,601,038 population.  It's time for the Muslims to realize that Israel is not on the Arabian Peninsula and that was what was covered by their leader, not the land Israel is on.  Israelis have gone back home to Israel.
