Syrian Hezbollah Terrorists and Iran Threaten Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

On July 5, 2013, the Syrian port city, Latakia, was attacked.  Hezbollah terrorists were receiving a Russian shipment of improved Yakhont anti-ship missiles there.   The weapons cache were destroyed in the assault. These weapons could have targeted Israel's naval vessels as well as its Mediterranean gas fields.

Hezbollah terrorists have been receiving their military training, weapons and financial support from Iran.  Its political support comes from Syria as this "Party of Allah or God" is a Shi'a Islamic militant group and also a political party based in Lebanon.  The Arab and Muslim worlds regard it as a resistance movement and we; ie;  Netherlands, France, UK, Australia, Canada, Gulf Cooperation Council and Israel  regard it as a terrorist group.  It is on the side of the Syrian government in this civil war.  They were ones involved in the recapturing of Qusayr, a very strategic Syrian town.

Israel is the most concerned party as they would be first on the list of being harmed.  Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his government will not tolerate weapons transfers to Hezbolla.  His policy is to prevent such transfers to terrorist groups.  He was interviewed on CBS News program, "Face the Nation" about the Latakia attack and didn't mention who the attacker of the port was.

Netanyahu's other problem is Iran.  He said that they were edging closer to building a nuclear weapon.  He felt that Iran's new president, Hassan Rouhani, was "a wolf in sheep's clothing".  He just smiles and continues to build a bomb.  Rouhani is said to be a moderate in his policies, unlike Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was.  Would the Ayatolla Khomeini allow anyone in as president who wasn't following his prescription for ruling Iran?  Rouhani was one of 3 men involved with Robert McFarlane in the Iran-Contra Affair.  "He also headed Iran's former nuclear negotiating team and was the country's top negotiator with the EU three– UK, France, and Germany – on Iran's nuclear program." He is to take office on August 3rd.

Netanyahu has reports that they're edging up to the red line but haven't crossed it yet.  His conclusion is based on the fact that they are building faster centrifuges that will enable them to jump the line at a much faster rate and will be there in a few weeks.

The US should "ratchet up its sanctions against Iran and if this doesn't work, Iran must be told that that the USA is prepared to take military action.  This is the ONLY thing that will get their attention.  Iran must understand this.

What is the USA doing in other parts of the world?  A month ago, Obama promised arms and ammunition to the Syrian rebels, but now everyone sees that these are really very limited plans.  The USA planned to use the CIA to covertly train and arm the rebels but this could take months as it hasn't even started yet and probably will not  have any effect in the war.  It's not enough to get Assad to negotiate.  The USA has had previous ill effects from taking such steps.  Besides that, the international laws prohibit lethal support to a group trying to overthrow a sitting government, so our Congress is highly skeptical.  We were going to give the rebels AK-47 rifles, anti-tank weapons and ammunition which could find their way to terrorists who could use them to shoot down commercial aircraft.

Syria's government troops had clashes on Sunday on the edge of Damascus.  Their military has had the offensive to retake districts in opposition to them for the past few months.  They had tank shells and artillery that they were firing against the rebels.  Iran continues to back Syria.

Back in the 1980's, Iran, under Rouhani Ayatolla Khomeini(1902-June 3, 1989) arrested, imprisoned and executed thousands and thousands of their citizens because they conflicted with the regime's philosophy. All totaled, 20,000 died.

Today,  Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has the reigns of power and "Iran’s supreme leader has strongly rejected proposals for direct talks with the United States, effectively quashing suggestions for a one-on-one dialogue on the nuclear standoff and potentially other issues."   This supreme leader is the Ayatolla, the head of religious power in Iran, not the president.  The president is pretty much just a puppet.

"The US  further tightened sanctions on the Islamic Republic, which have already cut Iran’s oil revenue by 45 per cent. AP"  It looks like Iran will not bend to nuclear concessions saying the USA is holding a gun to their head.  Instead, they have been  asking for "a six-nation group comprising the permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany" for economic assistance.

Will sanctions work?  We can't count on the UN for understanding or backing.  Two weeks to the red line?   Are we now living in the eye of the hurricane?   What will August bring us?

Rouhani promised to bring about economic stability in Iran and is now incensed over Ahmadinejad's lying about their economic stability.  "Several newspapers quoted Rouhani as saying his team of experts concluded that only an average of 14,000 jobs were created annually from 2006-2012. Ahmadinejad, who took office in 2005, claims his government created hundreds of thousands of jobs."

Again, who rules Iran?  "All key policy decisions rest with the ruling clerics. The most immediate impact by Rouhani could be on economic affairs, which are part of the portfolio of the presidency."   "The hardline supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei remains the ultimate authority on all state matters, including the nuclear program."  Iran may have voted in a moderate, but the real rulers are not showing signs of softening towards Israel.

Our Nemesis: Qaradawi

Nadene Goldfoot

86 year old Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a radical Muslim Brotherhood  religious leader, who is the world's leading Islamic scholar, arrived in the Gaza Strip recently to show his support for Hamas terrorists who aim to destroy Israel.  This hate-filled leader came as the leader of a delegation of 50 senior Islamics from 14 countries in order to urge Palestinians to continue the struggle against Israel.  Being he is the head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, he has power and influence.

One of his directions to Hamas  with its 1.5 million Gazan population was to not give up one inch of land to the Jews.  There is to be no concession on their demand of their "right of return" of millions of Palestinians to their pre-1948 villages and towns inside Israel."  This tiny state of Israel has 6 million Jews and 1.7 million Arabs.  It was created by Jews for Jews and is their refuge.  Being that there are  48 Muslim majority states or countries in the world already, Palestine would be the 49th.  It not only would be majority Muslim but is to be 100% Muslim.  They have no intentions of allowing Jews into their state.

He still insists that "Palestine" was never Jewish!  Evidently he refuses to read history books.  The Muslim Brotherhood should be embarrassed with this denial, as bad as Ahmadinejad saying that their was never a Holocaust in which the Nazis had killed 6 million Jews!  His denial of our history of almost 3,000 years of Jewish life before Mohammad was even born is ridiculous.  Obviously he's not about to talk about King Solomon who was so wise that the whole world had heard of him, even the Queen of Sheba.

So he preached to the gullible Hamas terrorists that "Palestine" has always been Arab and Islamic.  Always Islamic.  Amazing since Mohammad was born in 570 CE and died in 632 CE.  Jews go back to Moses who died in 1271 BCE when he commanded Joshua to enter Canaan and lead the Israelites into the land.  Jews eventually got around to accepting the idea of having a king and chose Saul, and then King David followed from 1010 BCE to 970 BCE and his son Solomon from 961 BCE to 920 BCE, and set up the monarchy of kings in the Empire of Israel and  then in the Empire of Judea.  Jews were overtaken in 70 CE when Jerusalem fell, but not all left.  However, all this history seems to be either unknown to these uneducated killers or ignored and denied outwardly.

Getting down to facts, Qaradawi is not too happy with Abbas ever sitting down to talk peace with Israel.  He's always pushing for jihad as the only tool to get what they want.  The Palestinians seem to be brainwashed into wanting to destroy Israel.  They love to hear his anti-Semitic remarks, so turned out to meet him by the thousands.  His banter is to speak of Israelis as "treacherous aggressors."  In 2009, one of his sermons was that "Allah, take this oppressive Jewish Zionist band of people.  Oh Allah, do not spare a single one of them.   Oh Allah, count their numbers and kill them, down to the very last one!"

At the same time, John Kerry, US Secretary of State was talking to the Israelis and Palestinians with opposing goals than the Egyptian-born Qaradawi.

Qaradawi was expelled from Egypt by Sadat for his extremism.  He found comfort living in Qatar, and from there espouses his hatred for Jews on al-Jazeera TV.  He has the run of Qatar pretty much, being best friends with the government.  The USA will not allow him in the country but Britain says he is a "moderate" and allows him in.  To me, that is a political and business decision being so many Muslims live in England already.  It was not an ethical decision.

Qaradawi is known for justifying suicide bombings against Israeli civilians and other such forms of death for them.  He has said that he himself would strangle Jews if he could, but he is crippled and stays in his wheel chair most of the time.  He has put out a fatwa  telling his congregants to kill Jews.

This is not the usual conflict over land that one sees on the surface.  Down deep this is a religious conflict of the goals of Islam versus the survival of the parent religion, Judaism.  This is unfortunate, because it is extremism in Islam that has taken over a lovely religion brought to Arabs, the children of Ishmael and Esau who had left the house of Abraham so long ago.  Originally Mohammad wanted his people to also hear and follow what was in the books of Jews and Christians and he used his own words to bring it to them, but somehow along the way, jealousy crept into the message which is being used today.  Any Islamic preacher bringing a message that differs from Qaradawi is under threats.

The message seems to be making the rounds, as I just heard that someone has been receiving death threats for being Jewish.  Are we back to the 1930's?  Are more tolerant Muslims going to allow such an attitude that Abraham, 4,000 years ago tried to end?  For he did not only teach us that there was one G-d instead of the multitude people believed in that caused all such demonic acts as human sacrifice and such.  His teaching brought on Moses, who gave us the recipe for decent living that Mohammad admired so much, calling Jews and Christians, "People of the Book."  We were not to be killed because of that.   Why is religion in our life, in our DNA to find and to question about morality if not to have a world of peace for one and all?

Qaradawi is the "Joker" but  who is Batman?  Who is brave enough to counter this evil message in the world which has created such non-thinking robots-ready to carry out his orders?

Iran Blames Israel For Stuxnet Virus, then Stars: Now Facing Duqu Virus

 Nadene Goldfoot

Nadene Goldfoot

Iran had experienced a computer virus last year called the Stuxnet.  Since then in April they have experienced another attack called Stars.

They just had a mysterious blast SW of Tehran at a missile base that killed 17 in the explosion.  The day after the attack they found their computers were hit with the Duqu virus.

For a country that has called Israel every detestible name under the sun and has thrown in the threats of destroying it, this is good news since their missiles with atomic death are driven by their computer system.  Whoever has come up with such a non-violent way to stop attacks on Israel, the United States and any other freedom loving country, I cheer for you.  Sanctions haven't helped to stop Iran in their mission to have atomic weapons, and some countries are even unwilling to do that much.  What makes Iran different from Korea or Pakistan is that they have been so blatant in announcing what evil they plans of destruction they have  to bring down on the heads of Israel and her friends.  Their hatred for Israel is like a vendetta, a blood feud.

Iran testing their huge shabab missiles to be used on
USA and Israel according to their many threats
It makes me wonder if Ahmadinejad isn't related to Haman, Chief minister of Ahasuerus, king of Persia, who wanted to order all the Jews in Persia to be killed.  He didn't like Queen Esther's Uncle Mordecai, so he schemed for the annihilation of all the country's Jews.  He wound up being hanged along with all his sons.  Actually, Haman may have been a  descendant of Agag, King of Amalek.  The Amaleks were an  original hateful group against Jews.  We remember this historical event with the holiday of Purim.
Update:  We need another virus for their computers.

2006: Second Lebanon War in Israel

Ahmadinejad's Visit to Lebanon

by Nadene Goldfoot

We've had several wars with Lebanon over the years. 1978 saw one war. We moved to Israel in 1980. I hadn't realized that there had been a war with Lebanon when we moved to Safed, which is quite close to the border with Lebanon. I was in Safed during the war in June 1982. "June 15, 1982: We were naturally happy that the PLO have been run out and had been worried about the arms and weapons that were coming in from them right across our border. It's time something was done about it. The U.N. and others were not doing anything about it. We never dreamt they would do as much as they did. Everyone is very upset about the casualties on both sides, but Lebanon seems to be very happy, and Major Hadad, the Christian Lebanese leader in Lebanon is very happy. In fact, all of Christian Lebanon is happy. We are glued to the radio for the short reports we get in English, and I read every word in the Jerusalem Post." Lebanon's minority were Christians, and the Christians and Muslims did not get along. Major Hadad and his militia patrolled our border and helped to protect Israel because the PLO had taken over southern Lebanon in the 70's. This 2nd war lasted 3 months when we actually went into Beiruit. By 1985 we had established a buffer zone between Lebanon and Israel.

In 1996 we had to go in Lebanon again in our Operation Grapes of Wrath, which lasted 16 days in order to end the shelling in Northern Israel by Hezbollah. Kiryat Shemona was constantly underfire, just as it was in 1982. That was one of my favorite towns, as they had the Hamishbeer, a wonderful department store which reminded me of Meier & Franks here in Portland. We had many American Jews living there, and they have been under attack so much, I don't know how they endure. Ceasefire was on 27 April, 1996.

Ahmadinejad has now visited Lebanon, buoying up their hatred for Israel. Iran is hoping to shake off memories of their 2005 assassination of Lebanon's former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Now they've been helping out Lebanon with water and electricity, so they are standing in the winner's circle. Ahmadinejad's disparaging remarks have been, "The world should understand that the Zionists will go. Palestine will be liberated." The crowd roared in approval.

He visited towns affected by Israel-Lebanon wars. Qana is a southern Lebanon town where more than 150 were killed by our bombs during 1996 and 2006 wars. Ahmadinejad was attributed with helping Lebanon "win the war."

The 2006 war was a 34 day war with Hezbollah. It started on 12 July 2006 and ceasefire by the UN was declared on 14 August 2006. On the 8 September Israel lifted their naval blockade. Hezbollah started it by firing rockets on our border towns. Then they fired anti-tank missiles on our Israeli Humvees patroling the border. They killed 3 soldiers and kidnapped 2 who could have been either dead or alive. We tried a rescue but 5 were killed in the attempt. Lastly we struck Lebanon with air attacks, hitting their airport which was the place they got imported weapons. A ground invasion was the end result. Hezbollah shot hundreds more rockets into northern Israel, where I used to live. They reached Haifa. They hit one of our warships with a drone. Lebanon took the biggest hit. They lost about 1,300. A million Lebanese were displaced as well as 300,00 to 500,000 Israelis. Israelis were able to return finally to their homes, but Lebanese couldn't due to our using cluster bomblets.

Why did Lebanon start attacking Israel in the first place? Do they not realize that we will retaliate? "For a trans-border Arab-Israeli war, this conflict was different than most. Israel at first responded lightly in the ground war, apparently relying on the air and artillery campaign to inflict most of the damage. Hezbollah responded with wave after wave of rockets and missiles supplied largely by Syria and Iran over the past several years."

Israel's Northern Border Neighbor; the New Lebanon

When I think of Lebanon, I remember Major Saad Hadad, the Christian friend of Israel. He patrolled the border between Lebanon and Israel. When he was exhausted, he'd come into Israel and have some R & R at our army hospital. We promised him that if anything were to happen to him we would take in his family. That was back between 1980-1985. During that time his Christian militia soldiers went into a Muslim army base and slaughtered the men there. We were blamed for that, but really hadn't expected it to happen, I'm sure.

Now Lebanon has been taken over by Iran and their terrorists, the Hizbullah. Their President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit them next week. Lebanon is going all out in greeting him, and what is he looking forward to doing there? He plans on throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers on the border.

Lebanon does have Prime Minister Saad Hariri, but he has given into Iranian pressure. When he formed his goverment in 2009, the Iranians were given veto power over all his government decisions. What's worse, Hariri's father was murdered by Syrian and Hizbullah assassins in 2005.

Syria and Hizbullah demand that Hariri not pay attention to a UN investigation that will name the proper killers. On Monday Syria arrested 33 Lebanese friends of Hariri for "false testimonies to the UN". Now they're afraid that Hizbullah will attack Christian and Sunni soldiers of Lebanon. Hizbullah happens to be made up of Shiite terrorists.

Israel sees that Ahmadinejad's visit can have an effect on a war with Israel. The US regional power has waned. Our administration has given sympathy to Hizbullah which shows many that Iran will fight Israel with Hizbullah. Israel may have to take on not only Lebanon but also Syria as well. So we know that Ahmadinejad is not there for just a friendly visit. After all, his goal is to eradicate the Jewish people.

Obama Puts Israel At Risk on "Borders of Auschwitz"

By Ariel Cohen Ariel Cohen – Wed May 13, 5:00 am ET from Christian Science Monitor
This is an excellent article. Ariel Cohen sees what our country is doing to Israel.

The May 18 meeting between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is critical for both nations. US-Israeli relations are in danger of deteriorating to the lowest point since Dwight Eisenhower ordered Israeli troops to evacuate Sinai in 1956 – an event that contributed to the 1967 Six-Day War. The summit may define relations between these two democracies for the duration of the Obama administration and beyond.

The White House seems to be intentionally slighting Israel in advance of the summit, even as it raises the stakes. Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, and National Security Adviser Gen. James Jones appear to have linked US willingness to stop Iran's nuclear program to receiving Israeli concessions regarding the two-state solution.

This is both immoral and counterproductive. Immoral, because it is dangerously close to blackmailing the Jewish state with a nuclear holocaust, planned by the Holocaust denier-in-chief, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Counterproductive, because potential Iranian nukes would threaten American interests and allies in the Middle East, including the oil-producing Gulf states.

The Obama administration is advocating steps that would jeopardize Israeli security. There is concern that it might approve an Arab-backed plan that could compel Israel to withdraw to indefensible 1967 cease-fire lines. The late, dovish Israeli foreign minister, Abba Eban, called these lines "the borders of Auschwitz."
The administration supports dividing Jerusalem to make a Palestinian capital. Such division was not a happy solution for Berlin decades ago. Jerusalem should not be cut in half by barbed wire fences.

It also wants Israel to join the ineffective Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The US had committed in a bilateral agreement not to tamper with the Israeli nuclear shield. At a time when Iran seems on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons, this is like demanding that a man in a rough neighborhood give up his shotgun when the criminal next door is getting a Kalashnikov.

All this occurs at a time when the terrorist organization Hamas is gaining strength. Polls predict that it would win Palestinian elections. If "Hamastan" arises in Gaza and the West Bank, it will probably become the next terror state, one keenly interested in destabilizing the US ally Jordan, as well.

The bigger picture is even more alarming. The administration is spending precious time and political capital trying for a quick fix to an intractable conflict. Obama and his top officials are meeting with the kings of Saudi Arabia and Jordan, the Egyptian president, the Europeans, and the Russians to effectively develop a plan that Israel had no part in formulating – and which would be imposed on it by extreme pressure.
This grand design is based on the "Arab peace plan" penned by the Saudis. It envisions settling millions of the 1948 Palestinian refugees and their descendants in Israel, a country the size of New Jersey.

This would irrevocably change the nature of Israel and create an ever greater terror threat. In pursuing this track, the Obama administration risks repeating the mistakes of its predecessors who also eagerly embraced instant solutions. Consider Camp David II in 2000, after which Yasser Arafat triggered the second intifada that killed more than 5,000 overall.

The administration seems to be making three grave errors. The first is disregarding reality. The entrenched hostility of the Arab world and radical Muslims toward Israel is there for all to see. The core issue is that the Arab elites have not accepted Israel's existence in the region. This fundamental point cannot be overlooked.
A second major mistake is arm-twisting a staunch democratic ally to curry favor among a deeply anti-American Arab and Islamic world. Doing so would send a message of weakness. America's allies from Japan to India to the Baltics will take note. A new wave of anti-American attacks – in Iraq, in the Gulf, and even on American soil – may be the unintended consequence.

The third mistake is to reward terrorism. A seven-year barrage of rockets from Gaza has not broken the will of the Israelis. Neither have the terror attacks, which killed nearly 1,200 Israelis since 2000 – mathematically proportional to 50,000 deaths in America. We should not allow the threat of terror to break the will of America to stand up to terror masters and financiers.

Israelis would be delighted to live in peace with their neighbors. But that can't happen until Hamas and Fatah abandon terror and cease teaching hatred to their children, brainwashing them about suicide bombing, and driving Jews into the sea. Palestinians have a long way to go to develop civil society, the rule of law, and economic prosperity before being ready to run a state. Israel will be in grave danger unless Washington stands with its ally in this fight for survival. The Middle East needs US leadership, but not the kind of leadership that imperils Israel while creating a Hamas-controlled terror state.

Czechs' Bravery Brings on Attacks From EU Over Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
The Czechs bravely walked out of the UN meeting while Iran's president was talking and didn't return. This brought criticism from the rest of the EU, mainly Louis Michel who spoke with a heavy French accent.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was ranting on that Israel practiced ethnic cleansing on Palestinians and demanded the arrest of these Zionist criminals.

I guess this part of the world simply doesn't take it well of Israel warning Hamas and the world that it simply would not take anymore of the past eight years of shelling and were going to start fighting back. Mind you, Israel warned the world first that if the shelling did not stop, this would happen. So Iran thinks that Israel should be a sitting duck and not fight back
.
What is more apalling is that the Europeans, including the French, would sit and take such delusional thinking without a whimper! To sit and be proper when a madman is speaking is absolutely disgusting to me.
Evidently the Czech were not the only ones to walk out on his speech, but they were the only ones who did not return, which was extraordinarily brave. However, the Czech are noted for their individualistic thinking and bravery. They don't seem to be sheep and follow the others. Hoorey for them!

Israel's Future and the 23rd Arab State

by Nadene Goldfoot

After the 1967 war, Israel rightly came into including Judea and Samaria in Israel as it was attacked by all the Arab nations, and surprisingly Israel won that bout. Our history goes way back and gives us biblical rights to the land west of the Jordan River. Many religious Jews moved there. It is our biblical heartland. Not only do we have a divine right, but historical as well to this land.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has announced on his way out of office that Jews there will have to leave Judea and Samaria to make room for the 23rd Arab State to be called "Palestine."

To me this is so unfair. Palestinians thought nothing of the land. There were very few in the land since most Jews were captured in 70AD by the Romans and hauled off as slaves or killed, though they did miss a few. This was the land referred to by Moses in the bible, and is so important in Jewish theology. It really has very little meaning to Arabs. The land has remained untouched since Jews were not there. With the re-creation of Israel, Arabs came into the country looking for work. Joan Peters has shown in her book, "From Time Immemorial", that these Arabs came from many countries. There was no desire for any national unity, only a desire to better themselves. On the contrary, Jews had had a nation, two, in fact. Judea and Israel. Now we have one after a 2,000 year hiatus, one of the smallest states in the world surrounded by people who hate us because we are Jewish and not Muslims. We have come back to our empty home and are being attacked because we have remodeled and our home is an example of great modern living. Our democracy is a threat to the tribal family of Arab kings who stem from King Hussain. The only thing we have in common is the belief in one G-d and the belief in not eating pork! Though we have but one G-d, our belief in what that G-d expects of us seems to be totally different. Even our dna has shown to be different. So much for the cousin idea. Our real cousins are probably the Kurds of Iraq whose dna is very similar to ours, who are also going through a tough time.

If Olmert is correct, we will have a 23rd state surrounding our tiny piece of land; Gaza on the west and the West Bank on the East. No wonder Ahmadinejad of Iran said that Israel will be finished.

The Palestinian refugee problem was created by Arab leaders who must have played more chess than our American leaders, as they saw that by doing so, they had a leverage in the world to beat over the Jews' heads. This was an unforseen event to our Israeli leaders that they could not overcome. Some displaced Palestinians have moved onto better places like the other 22 Arab states or even the USA, but many remained in camps and with nothing to activate their minds, have had enormous families. Money has not been a problem since UNRA of the United Nations have pitched in, and they have received special attention. They receive a salary and huge donations of food, even though they are not working.

There are over 100 countries in the world whose situation is worse than the Palestinians. In Indonesia, where Obama's stepfather moved his family to, there are 120 million people who earn less than a dollar a day. I have heard that Obama's half brother in Africa lives on $12 dollars a year, with no help from Obama.

In the world there are from 15-25 million refugees not living their own country with no food or home, conditions far worse than the Palestinians.

Including the Kurds, there are about 200 national-ethnic people without freedom and statehood who are not opting for statehood at the cost of ruining another nation.

In many places including Muslim nations there are 240 million slave-children, but not in Israel.

Africa has the worst conditions. Asia is 2nd. 30% of the world populations have no toilets and use holes in a field. All the attention, however, probably because of the heavy control of the UN by the Arab countries, have devoted all their attention to the plight of the "Palestinians," and like a chess game, have gained control over Israeli land by doing so.

Olmert is leaving office in shame. He had high hopes a few years ago for Israel's future, but said that after a long and tortured process, he has concluded that we must share the land in this way if we don't want to be a bi-national state. The two choices are both poor. Perhaps new elections will find another choice outside of the box. I hope so.

Ahmadinejad's Name Calling
Israel is starting to celebrate a momentous feat; its 60th birthday. Iran's Ahmadinejad said it was doomed to disappear as he dwelt on ways to help that goal along. He called Israel a stinking corpse that can't be revived with a birthday party and said the Israeli regime was a fake. He said its existence was being questioned and the regime is on its way to annihilation.
He then went on to say that Israel was like a dead rat that had reached the end after being slapped by the Lebanese. This raving man has not recognized Israel. Since he became president of Iran in 2005, he has constantly provoked international outrage by saying that Israel is doomed to disappear. He has even gone as far as to deny the Holocaust, or at least say that it wasn't as bad as it was. He definitely wasn't invited to the birthday party.

Rumor has it that when Ahmadinejad screams about Israel, people become frightened about oil, and the price per barrel goes us. Iran does have a lot of the world's oil. Somebody had better stick a sock in his mouth so it doesn't go up any farther. Israel takes the threats very seriously. I'm sure they're contemplating more than a sock in the mouth in order to survive.

Iran and Jews: History Repeats Purim

                                                                                      Nadene Goldfoot
Haman and King Ahasueros (Xerxes)  of Persia
History from 485-465 BCE called the King of Persia Xerxes. Jews called him Ahasuerus.
So at least before 330 BCE, in Persia when King Ahasuerus was ruler, there arose a man named Hamen who had a solution for the "Jewish problem". He devised a plan to kill all Jewish men, women and chldren in a single day. This was before the Muslim religion which was only born in about 700 AD.
Queen Esther (Hadassah) and her son, Darius
The king had been angry with hist first wife, Vashti. She had not come and danced for his friends when he had called her, so she was banished. To replace her, King Ahasuerus had a beauty pagent held, and who won but the Jewish girl, Esther "Hadassah". Her uncle Mordechai happened to be the king’s advisor, and he advised Esther not to say anything about being Jewish. Already the Jews were having popularity problems.

One day Mordechai sensed danger for his people. He was a descendant of King Saul, and people talked freely with him. The morale of the Jews was very low. The Temple in Jerusalem had been destroyed and the nation of Judea had been conquered, and for the past 70 years the Jews were living in foreign lands, including Persia. Now there were more problems for the Jews.

A descendant of the Amaleks, an ancient tribe that fought the Jews while they followed Moses from Egypt named Hamen, lived in Persia and like his ancestors, hated the Jews. Hamen was the king’s chief minister. Actually, he resented and had a dislike for Mordechai because he felt he had an independent attitude. Because of this, he hated all the Jews. Hamen was called the Agagite, which meant that he was a descendant of Agag, king of the Amaleks. Mordechai heard of his plan to annhialate all the Jews, so he went to his niece Esther and begged her to help her people.

Queen Esther
After fasting for three days except for eating seeds, Esther approached her husband, the king. All the Jewish people in Persia joined her in her fast to help her. She told him of Hamen’s plan and then told him that she too was Jewish. At the time she also was in disfavor and feared talking to him, but knew it was most important to do so. After listening to her, the king turned on Hamen.

He ordered that Hamen and also his ten  sons to be hung, and so they were. That ended the plan to exterminate the Jews then.

That was not the end of evil plotters who have tried to kill all the Jews in the world. Hitler was almost successful in that he killed six million Jews in Europe.

Strangely, the Persian Gulf War ended on Purim, in the year 5751 on the Jewish Calendar. Purim is the holiday that celebrates Esther's success in saving the Jews.

Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Shahab 3 missile
that they threaten to destroy Israel with by carrying atomic weapon
Now we have Ahmadinejad, the modern day president of Iran, which used to be called Persia, stating that the solution to the Middle East problem is to destroy Israel. Perhaps he should remember what happened to Haman.

Israel, Born Out of the Ashes-And Its Arab Neighbors

 Nadene Goldfoot 2006-08-09
Born out of the ashes of the Holocaust, Israel has realized that the world really has not cared whether it exists or dies. She has quickly determined that she must fight for herself to live. Becoming a state and being accepted by the United Nations indeed seemed like a miracle after awaiting for 2000 years to be born again. It was not to be a slam dunk, however.

Her people, both men and women, have had to become warriors to protect their incredibly small nation. For a group hungering for peace, they have had to think of nothing but engaging in defensive wars. Their teenagers have had to grow up knowing their inherited obligation means going into the army as soon as high school is over, and facing the possibility of dying before their allotted time.

Her daughter religion, Christianity, has not had to send troops to help defend her. They saw in their mother religion aspects of their own morality, however, and helped supply her with much needed weapons. Without these, she would perish. Now, the United States alone stands with Israel, knowing that her fall will signal immense problems for itself.and the hope of peace in the world. Even Britain is on the fence, thinking of their needs before Israel’s. Alone, and for the very first time in history, the United States is taking the barbs and hatred of the world for standing with Israel and not relenting.

Israelis have fought against Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Transjordan, which is today’s Jordan and have won. This was at the time of it’s rebirth in 1948. That was the War of Independence. Then they had a war of 1956 and the war of 1967 which lasted for only 6 days and found they had conquered the Gaza Strip, the vast Sinai Peninsula, and the Golan Heights, and repossessed the provinces of Judea and Sumaria which the outer world calls the West Bank, and the eastern part of Jerusalem which had been occupied by the Jordanians 19 years earlier when they invaded Israel in 1948. Let’s not forget the war of 73 which occurred on the highest Jewish holy day, Yom Kippur, when all people were praying in the synogogues. After this attack on Israel, Egypt and Jordan begrudgingly accepted Israel’s presence, which aggravated their Arab brothers to the nth degree. Jordanians come back and forth into Israel to find work and many tourists have gone into Egypt from Israel since then. Then there was the war of 1982 when Israel went into Lebanon due to Katusha rockets that were continually being aimed at Kiriat Shimona, very near the border, as well as other northern targets. There, the lovely Hamishbeer Department Store was located that all the northern Israelis loved to shop in. Many American Jews resided there, becoming unnerved by the constant need to live in bomb shelters.

Israel has only fought defensively, having accepted the United Nations’ decisions as to size and shape of Israel. The Palestinians have never accepted their offered state, hoping instead to own all of the land of Israel as their given share. Since 1990, Israel has left the contested Lebanon strip they needed for defense, which has given the terrorsts time to arm themselves with highly sophisticated weapons supplied from Iran with the help of Syria.

Iran has never forgotten its loss in 1948 and has developed a religion that deems Israel a thorn in its side and has decided that Israel must be removed. The Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has stated to the world over mass communications that the solution to the Middle East problem is to destroy Israel. Israel took his words seriously. They know that Iran is seeking atomic energy and figures it’s not because they need better heating methods. They know it’s to make atomic weapons to use on the United States and Israel.

Israel’s Mossad, the Intelligence Agency, must have known that Lebanon’s terrorists were planning something. Katushas have continued to fall from Lebanon. They are not invitations to a party. They can kill and destroy. They’re not exactly a friendly action to their neighbors. The same thing has been happening on the Gaza Strip. When the soldiers in both areas were kidnapped, this alerted the IDF, Israel’s Defense Force, that something was brewing, and luckily, it alerted the country.

The IDF was made aware of the danger by the kidnappings. To find that 13,000 rockets of various sizes and capabilities were lined up in the northern country of Lebanon was more than Israel had imagined. They quickly realized that Iran was most serious in its declaration of destroying Israel.

This is Israel’s Pearl Harbor call. It is the most serious war Israel has ever faced. Israel may be highly trained, unfortunately, for survival reasons, and may have a wonderful arsonal in air power and land due to the United States, but finds that the Arabs have gifts of weapons even more deadly due to the Soviet Union’s sales to Iran.

We have only 5.4 million Jewish people inhabiting Israel. Being a democratic country, the only Jewish country in the world, it also is home to Christians and Muslims. Even at that, we have only 13 million Jews in the world. The Arab world has 1 1/2 billion Moslems and they all seem to be against us.

Our original forefathers who established Israel thought things would be a little different. They talked to Emir Faisal’s father, Hussein in 1918 who had then written and called upon the Arab population in Palestine to welcome the Jews as brothers and to cooperate with them for the common good. At that time, most Arab leaders were living in comfort in Europe and sold land to the Jewish pioneers at very high prices, but land was bought legally and the empty desert and swamp called Palestine was holy to the Jewish returnees.

Later Muslims like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have decided that Israel, which is much less than 1/3 the size of Oregon, is too great a piece of real estate to house Jews. It’s about 260 miles long, 60 miles at the widest, and 3 to 9 miles at the narrowest. Israel consists of 8,000 sq. miles.  Compare that with the state of Oregon, population of 3,930,065 but having a width of 400 miles (640 km), and length of 360 miles (580 km), or 144,000 sq. miles,   where the top 3 people living there have the ancestry of Germany-22.5%, England-14% and Ireland -13.2%.

It is an affront to the Muslims to have a democratic Jewish state in their midst. Their people might get ideas of wanting democracy, also. That is a threat to their realm. The strange thing is that little Israel has no oil wells. Israel was given people who had to learn to use their minds to survive and not be dependant on oil, like their cousins. No people had ever developed the land. It lay in the sun, waiting for its people to return to bring it back to life.
