Winding Up 2008 in Israel
Terrorists have been busy all year attacking Southern Israel by firing some 3,000+ rockets and mortars. They killed four people but wounded 270+. The citizens of the area are suffering from PTSD from the constant shellings and uncertainty of life. Sderot and even Ashkelon have received the most attacks as well as the surrounding areas.
Hamas terrorism has been working with millions of aid dollars from Iran. Iran's president has constantly said that he wants to wipe Israel off the map, a map which the Arabs haven't even bothered to put Israel on. The terrorists have dug about 600 tunnels along the Philadelphi Corridor, a stretch of land from the border between Egypt and Gaza for a supply of weapons and explosives to get to terrorists in Gaza. Egypt had worked at bringing the terrorists into a ceasefire which the terrorists never really observed, but it is now over. They are still trying to revive one. The past 6 months have given them time to build more rockets.
Not only have the terrorists fired rockets at Israel, but have attacked 17 times the border crossings from Gaza into Israel.
Hamas terrorists have used their monies for attacking Israel instead of using it to help their own people. They cry "Foul" but it is them that does the fouling. It was a sad state of affairs when Democracy voted in the Hamas terrorists to rule in Gaza. They, being terrorists, must have given quite a convincing shpiel to their people to be voted in. It probably contained of lot of threats. To me, this couldn't have been done democratically, unless all the citizens really felt as they do, which is hard to believe. Trying to use democratic values with such leaders has certainly failed. It's exactly like the situation was in Iraq under Saddam Hussain. Anyone who disagreed with Saddam was immediately killed.
