Temple Mount Arabs Bring Hitler Into Egypt's Fight For Leadership

 Nadene Goldfoot

The Temple Mount, an area off limits to Jews by the design of Israel's own government in an act of fairness and sensitivity to their minority Muslim population, was a scene of aggressive anti-Israel rhetoric and hatefulness by Arab Israelis towards their fellow Jewish citizens today.

The Arabs there were getting in on the act of demonstrating for Morsi, the past leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and ousted President by the Egyptian Military who has taken over in an interim position until new elections.  In the poster They are comparing Hitler with the commander in Chief of Egypt's army, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Do they even realize that it was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Mohammad Amin al Husayni,  who went to Germany to conspire with Hitler against the Jews?  It was the Grand Mufti who had organized rioting and massacres against the Jews in "Palestine" when the British held the mandate.  The Grand Mufti was probably the Granddaddy of the Muslim Brotherhood.  They've pulled out the wrong evil empire representative to compare with Sisi.

King  Abdullah I of Jordan, a distant relative,  had to remove the Grand Mufti from this position and banned him from Jerusalem.  It was Abdullah who was in agreement in Israel's creation, but he had turned against the idea when he saw that Britain had promised the Jews more land than he was led to believe.  Neither the Jews nor Abdullah saw promises from Britain come to fruition.  In the end it was the Jews who accepted the lot while the Arabs did not.

Egypt does not think of the ousting of Morsi as a coup.  As one government employee, Ahmed Ragab,  in Cairo puts it, "If you have roaches in the kitchen that are eating away at your food,, what do you do?  You spray them,"  he said.  "These are not Islamists.  They are terrorists."

The Muslim Brotherhood's charter has as its goal to destroy Israel, so anyone sticking up for the Military on the Temple Mount was taunted by them to be on the side of Jews.  Yet here they all are, freely demonstrating without being carried off to the police station or hit with a baton, right in Israel.  They are not even free to do that in Egypt, and for many reasons.  There it has turned into a war with the Muslim Brotherhood behaving like terrorists and instigating all the fight against the citizens of Egypt along with the military.  The demonstrations in Egypt have turned into savage death events.

Cairo, a city of over 18 million people, has almost 3 times the population of Israel's 7 million.  Egypt has continued to have a peace pact with Israel since Sadat, who came to Israel in a show of sincere peace  and spoke to the Knesset on November 20, 1977.  Egypt's total population is about 91 million people.

"El-Sisi was the youngest member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces of Egypt. On 12 August 2012, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi took a decision to replace Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, the head of the Egyptian Armed Forces, by el-Sisi, and promoted him to the rank of General.   El-Sisi also took the post of Minister  and Military Production in the Qandil Cabinet."

The Islamists of the Muslim Brotherhood have gone after the Christians, the churches and nuns.  They have torched a Franciscan school, took 3 nuns like they were prisoners of war and paraded them in the streets while they were sexually harassed.  Christians had been all of 10% of Egypt's population before the Muslim Brotherhood came into power with Morsi last year.  The pastor, Boulos Fahmy,  of a Catholic church was interviewed and told the reporter that he was terrified and unable to focus.  His church was just a short distance away from a Franciscan school in Bani Suef.  "I am expecting an attack on my church anytime now," he commented.

When the new President Barack Hussein Obama of the USA went to the Cairo University with his speech in 2009,  the Muslim Brotherhood was still being outlawed, but there they were, listening to him speak.  Khaled Hamza, editor of the Muslim Brotherhood website, confirmed that 10 of their parliamentary bloc had received official invitations to attend the speech.  Conservatives in the US were upset because these Muslims were not known to be the conservatives to appeal to.  However, the comeback was that they had renounced the use of violence in the 70's.  What the Muslim Brotherhood wanted most was to see changes in the US foreign policy.  This seemed to start the future power and comeback of the group, recognition by the American President.

West Bank Arabs Rioting Against Israelis
Nadene Goldfoot
The Middle East is in an uproar with countries trying to overpower their Kings and despots.  It's been affecting the Arabs of the West Bank as well.  May saw a lot of rioting going on.  Israel's remembrance of it's birthday saw a lot of Arabs rioting, as well as on Jerusalem Day in June.  Their disappointment in our success was displayed in their Nakba Day, and was again celebrated with rioting.

Riots started on the Friday the 10th this month.  It happened at the Western Wall near the Moroccan Gate after the Muslim prayers and continued with around 200 people in a village with people armed with bats and iron chains who also burned a Jewish hut, tent and holy books in the prayer corner.

There have been quite a few flare-ups of rioting and stone throwing, and worse over the past three days in the West Bank against Israelis.  Each riot involves about 50 Arabs attacking border policem or IDF.  Bilin has seen 50 rioters, Dir Nizam 50, Umm Salamana 50, SE of Ramallah 40, and Qalandiya 100.  The border policeman there was lightly injured.  The rioters were throwing flares at the soldiers and firebombs, molotov cocktails and many many rocks.

There are two villages northwest of Ramallah in the Judea/Samaria area.  One is the Jewish village of Nili.  A few men were using bulldozers on their land.  About 50  Arabs from Deir Qaddis didn't like that at all.  They were thinking that the Jews were coming too close to their property, so they went out and stoned the soldiers that were protecting the Nilins.  They didn't just throw little stones, they were heaving huge ones in what turned out to be a big riot.

One soldier was attacked in this violence so badly that the stones shattered his leg.  Then the crowd all advanced towards him even closer while still throwing stones.  He opened fire into the air, then as they quickly came closer, shot at them with him live rounds.  Another soldier was also wounded in the spree.  The soldiers then used rubber bullets and tear gas on the attackers.  Several Arabs were injured.

Four more villages saw riots, another involving 100 rioters, one with 50 and two more with 30 people each involved.

Everyone is pressing Israel to sit down to talk peace with the Palestinians, but they haven't even decided who is going to head up their people, Fatah or Hamas.  That's still undecided.  Besides, that, their people are rumbling against Israel, showing that they haven't got peace in mind at all.  Besides the people heating up, so is the temperature.  It was Abbas of Fatah who refused to sit down and talk.  Now it's Abbas who is going to have to show the world and Israel that he is ready to make peace after all, and the big step they must take is to finally accept a Jewish Israel in the midst of their Muslim territory.

Middle East in Turmoil

Israel's Neighbors Want Democratic Values

Nadene Goldfoot

Joining Tunisia and Algeria in riots against their respective government are Yemen, Jordan and Egypt. Egypt is on Israel's west side and Jordan is on the eastern side.

Egypt is the 5th largest country in the Middle East and is a country of 77,100,000 people of which 90% are Sunni Muslims who have a state religion and a semi-presidential republic. It's a poor country with a GDP of 5,491. News on television just said that internet and twittering had been stopped in this 5th day of rioting but had just started up again. I was saddened to hear that rioters had entered a famous museum and had torn off the heads of a couple of mummies. That's the trouble with rioting. People get too carried away and start destroying. It's no wonder that the government came out with tanks and they in turn have killed many people now. Our TV news said that street venders may be college graduates but can't find jobs. Prices are high and Mubarak has put money in his homes but has not invested it for the people. I guess there's no need to do so when he's got a lifetime position. He's 82 years old and still has black hair. I can't believe it's been 30 years of power for Hosni Mubarak. I can't imagine having a president for that long a time. Thank goodness we vote every 4 years for one and they can only serve for 8 years at the most. Egypt has been receiving US Aid for the past 60 years. In 2009 its FY (Foreign Operations Budget Request) was 551,255,600. In 2010 the FY was 20,700, 790. Egypt is the 2nd largest recipient of US money. Egypt has signed a peace treaty with Israel. It has honored the peace made by Sadat. I taught with an Egyptian Jewish lady teacher in our English department. Where there used to be many Jews living in Egypt, there are very few left there now.

Yemen happens to be the 16th largest country with a population of 23,013,376 where 99% of the people are Sunni and Shi'a in their Islamic state which has a Presidential republic. Their GDP is only 2,335. Yemen was where Ofrah Haza, the Israeli singer, had come from. She was my very favorite when I lived in Israel from 1980-1985. Sadly, she has died. Yemen wants a change in government from their President Ali Abdullah Saleh who has ruled them for the past 32 years with a corrupt government. Oil is the country's only source of income. The country is the poorest of all the Middle Eastern countries. The police only have used batons against rioters as that's all they could afford. The country has no proper sanitation nor paved roads. Our USA government gave them 250 million in the last 5 years and gave them 300 million in 2010 while expecting to give them 250 million or more in 2011 to fight terrorism as it's been a haven for al-Qaida militants.

Jordan is the 30th largest country with 5,568,565 people of which 95% are Sunni Muslims with a state religion and a constitutional monarchy which has a king. Their GDP is 4,886. Jordan has been having many demonstrations for the last few years but this time it was over price increases and economic austerity. It started on January 4th at the U. of Jordan which is outside of Amman and spread to four other towns. This happened while King Hussein was in Washington at a meeting so his brother, Crown Prince Hassem had to take over and ask for calm. Jordan has also been receiving US Aid for 60 years. In 2004 it received 400 milion dollars per year from USA. Its FY in 2009 was 515,749,676 and in 2010 the FY was 336,398. Jordan has signed a peace treaty with Israel.
Update: 1/30/2011 NBC this morning stated that Egypt receives 1.3 billion from USA.
Lebanon's government collapse, which I wrote about on January 12th in this blog, has continued to have riots and just voted in Nijib Mikati of Hezbollah to lead the new government. There has been 7 shot in continued rioting in clashes with Shiites in Beirut. Harari said that he didn't want to be in the Hezbollah coalition but may change his mind as today he said it's just a Sunni Clan family riot. Lebanon, on Israel's northern border, is the 35th largest Muslim state with 4,196,453 people where 60% are Muslim and the rest Christian who are of a mixed Shi'a/Sunni Islam and is not of any state religion supposedly with a Parliamentary democracy. Their GDP is 11,270. In 2004 Egypt was receiving 2.2 billion dollars per year from USA.
Right now Israel is surrounded by rioting states buffered by Gaza and the West Bank. It's not a pretty picture. Welcome to 2011.

Succah Celebrants Stoned and Attacked
Wednesday evening in the USA was the start of Sukkot, the Feast of the Tabernacles. This holiday lasts for 9 days, ending with a special day of Shmini Atzeret. People are happy and on holiday. It's time to sit in the succah and entertain your friends. Women make all sorts of breads; banana, zucchini, etc to eat in there. I remember how awed I was to see all the succas in Safed, a three sided structure with rugs and blankets making the sides. It was colorful and peaceful from 1981-1985. Everyone made their own succah. This is what was made when Moses left Egypt and took 40 years to get to the Promised Land. We have this unique way of remembering our history. We make and live the story.

Just recently the U.S. administration publicly told Israel to halt constuction in Judea and Samaria AND parts of eastern Jerusalem, which is Israel's capital. The result of this airing was that Palestinians attacked an Israeli guard who was getting gas in Judea/Samaria with stones after cornering him. He in turn fearing for his life shot one of the attackers dead.

A few hours later the Palestinians rioted in eastern Jerusalem, targeting the Temple Mount area and Silwan.

A 35 year old Israeli man was actually stabbed by a rioter near Mt. Scopus and had to go to the hospital while three others were slightly wounded after their car had been overturned by the same rioters.

Israelis are always at the Western Wall praying and today they were hit with stones until the police came to the Temple Mount to stop the rioters.

The attacks were instigated by Fatah militants, the Palestinian party who live in Judea and Samaria, and they were no doubt instigated by their Hamas brothers in Gaza. They're trying to win Jerusalem.

Summing up, 10 Israelis were wounded near the Temple Mount. Peace talks are going on with each participant coming to the table with their needs. Israel wants to be recognized which will make this area peaceful and safe and the Palestinians don't want to do that though they are in the act of talking peace terms. They want all of Judea and Samaria with all Jews gone plus all of Eastern Jerusalem which they will claim to be their capital. Besides this they want all their relatives to be allowed to enter and live there which would overcome Israel. Then we have Hamas who absolutely refuses to be peaceful but wants to kill us all and take over Israel. I don't think this is a very peaceful Succot for Netanyahu.
