Israel Ready for 1967 Six Day War Remembrance

Nadene Goldfoot
On behalf of Iran, Syria and Hezbollah, Hamas Palestinians and others marched into Israel on May 15th to remember regrettably their Nakba Day when Israel was deemed a state in the UN in 1948.

After that invasion, Israel is ready for them to remember the Six Day War this June when Israel won after being attacked in 6 days.  That 3rd large war started on June 5th and ended on June 10th.  Egypt (then called the United Arab Republic), Jordan and Syria along with Iraq had circled Israel .  They had 465,000 Arab troops made up of many Palestinian guerillas of Fatah, the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, 2,800 tanks and 800 aircraft ready to attack.

This all started when Israel was trying to make peace with Egypt, who were also not about to recognize Israel.  At the same time, the USA and France put an embargo on Israel so that she could not receive anymore arms.  At the same time, the Soviets supplied the Arabs with all their arms.

Though we may have Ha Shem on our side, the war was also won through the blood, sweat and tears of our young IDF soldiers.  It wasn't fun being in a tank on the Sinai desert in June.  My neighbor in Safed was one of those young men and suffered a great deal from it.

Netanyahu has given directions to Israelis to protect our borders but to use restraint as the Arabs think of this as their Naksa Day.  Nothing like an invasion to remember what we had gone through 44 years ago.
