Hamas Wants Truce With Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

How long will a truce last this time? After shelling Israel with 26 rockets and mortars into Israel this week with one exploding near a kindergarten, Israel conducted an air strike that killed a 5-man rocket squad and included shooting a "Palestinian shepherd" near the border.

The 27th of this month is the anniversary of Operation Cast Lead, in which a Seattle Palestinian biased group wanted to escalate tension for Jews by having 12 buses run for a month with huge ads against Israel that were very provocative starting on that date. The deal was denied finally by the bus company who changed their rules to the better. This is the same city that saw a terrorist walk into the Jewish Federation office and shoot 6 women of which one died not so long ago.

Now Gaza's Islamist Hamas leaders have signaled that they have a desire for mutual ceasefire. Israel feels they escalated the situation so now they can simply stop the rocket fire. Hamas and other terrorist groups had been committed to an agreement they had reached last year to stop firing rockets into Israel. Today, another rocket from Gaza landed into Israel, so where's the desire? I'm thinking they just want to rest and maybe take a bath, get more arms and start up again. It would be nice if they ever meant it.
12/25/2010: The latest is that the total rockets shot into Israel is now 30 with a 15 year old girl injured and Israel retaliating by hitting a Gazan training facility and a tunnel carrying weapons of which was devoid of people. Hamas is now threatening Israel to quit retalitation and they'll make Israel disappear. "You are going to disappear! "they declare. First they asked for the stoppage of fighting and now they're threatening. What do they want or expect? They only see the creation of Judea and Samaria into Palestine as a lull in the attack to make "Israel disappear."

Europe, U.N. and USA Press Israel for Truce
Beersheva Hit
Israel knows that the Hamas terrorists have the capability to hit further and further. Now Beersheva, 28 miles from Gaza, was hit. People do not realize how close every city is in Israel, nor do they realize how small Israel is.
Europe, the U.N. and the USA are pressing Israel for a truce. One reason is to allow supplies into the Gaza Strip that they think they must have. They don't realize that Israel has been allowing trucks in all the time with supplies. What Israel is trying to prevent are the weapons that have been arriving into Gaza, much of them from Iran.
It amazes me that these Hamas terrorists scream that they are a little edgy that they haven't been seeing the immense amount of goods and services that they usually do, while Israel's population is suffering from being shelled for seven years, already suffering from PTSD, and Europe, the UN and USA think that is far more terrible than Israel's suffering. Southern Israel's population have had to spend their lives in shelters or risk being hit by a rocket or misssle for seven years. Yet I haven't seen any defense of Israel in the newspapers. Only condemnation against Israel is heard when it defies the world and strikes back.
This is the 4th day that Israel has been hitting Hamas strongholds. Hamas has spoken. They have stipulations and again want their way completely. They want no blockade of the Gaza Strip. Then they will do us the honor of thinking about a truce.
So far, 368 have died in Gaza of which 64 were civilians. The rest were Hamas terrorists. Today Israel is allowing 100 trucks into Gaza with supplies.
A ground invasion is the next possibility for Israel to take. They have declared that this is a war. Hopefully, it is a war to end wars. I feel that the only thing that the Arabs respect is power. Israel has to be strong because it is so small. The Arab leaders keep wanting to trample and strangle Israel, so we must be like hornets and sting when attacked in order to get them to leave us alone.
Perhaps the day will come when Europe, the UN and the USA will defend Israel, a legitimate democratic state, instead of terrorism. That will be a surprise to see on the front page of any paper. Then I'll know that there's hope for all mankind.

United Nations Pressure on Israel, No Others

Nadene Goldfoot
Monday Israel allowed trucks into Gaza to bring in necessary items. The United Nations continues to pressure Israel to keep the gates open, saying that hundreds of thousands are without food and fuel.
They know that the gates are closed because the Gazan terrorists, Hamas, have continued to shell Israel with rockets. I haven't noticed them telling the terrorists to stop shelling Israel. They never blame the terrists, but turn the problem around. Karen AbuZayd of the UN simply said that Israel should open the gates because the warehouse's food is gone. Navi Pillay aid the blockade breached international and humanitarian law.
It is certainly against the law to fire rockets into Israel. That is not humane. This fact is ignored. The bullies hurt a country, then call foul because they have been punished. I can't believe the logic.

The Oregonian is implying that the terrorists are increasing their attacks on Israel because this is the end of a negotiated truce made 5 months ago that certainly has ended, what with shelling Israel for two weeks daily. Barak is keeping the crossings closed because of continuing rocket fire. How else can the terrorists see that their attacks are unwelcome? Are they trying to get the whole Israeli army into Gaza? They are instigating a fight by attacking, and all we have done is close the gate that would open if the shelling stops.

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva was as exasperated as I feel. ..."Hamas, which invests all of its resources in arms and terrorism instead of providing for civilians that it brutally controls," said Aharon Leshno-Yaar. He contradicted the UN comments in that water and electricity were still flowing and 33 trucks loaded with supplies were in Gaza on Monday. More are waiting to enter once the attacks of rockets stop.

Israeli tanks went into Gaza Tuesday and were hit with mortar fire. They were followed by a bulldozer and military jeep. They were there to clear the land along the border, a routine operation to find explosive devices. The tanks, though fired upon, did not return fire. There were no casualties.
Israel has said that if the rocket firing persists, they will hit back hard.
