Israel Facing Illegal Kangaroo Court-Terrorists Suing Israel in War and Review of Standards of Terrorists

Nadene Goldfoot
At times, Fatah terrorists have joined with Hamas Terrorists
Against Israel, but the two groups fight
about who is the leader
I'm sure I'm living in Alice in Wonderland's planet.  This is surely an upside down world we are living in today.  I see that Hamas has the chutzpa to be taking Israel to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for something during the constant war between the two;  War Crimes.  Terrorists who terrorize are suing the most legalistic and moral state in the world! Israel!
The sad thing is that people such as the court and others are going along with it.  Logic is not king anymore.

Dr. Ghazi Hamad born 1964
former chairman of the border crossings authority in Gaza

The plaintiff is the spokesman for the PA Executive Committee made up of 45 members.  They have taken their grievance to the ICC.  Dr. Ghazi Hamad is their spokesman, the deputy foreign minister of the terrorist group, Hamas, who have been actively warring against Israel since being given Gaza by Israel.  The committee also includes 2 other terrorist organizations;  the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Palestine Liberation Front (PLF).

Faou Bom Bensouda, born 1961
ICC's chief prosecutor since June 2012
Gambian lawyer and minister of justice in Gambia,
a small state born in 1965.

The prosecutor for the ICC is a woman, Fatau Bensouda of Gambia, Africa.  She secretly colluded with the PA against
Israel according to a Jordanian newspaper. A previous investigation of silly charges of systemic human rights abuses by the British military personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq showed up her conduct of bias.
No wonder that the PA's negotiator, Saeb Erekat, thinks the ICC investigation will prove to be successful in Hamas's favor.  Gambia's standards of moral conduct in war must be a lot different!!

The US State Department revoked her visa in early April 2019.  She had been investigating whether US servicemen or US officials engaged in war crimes in Afghanistan Poland, Romania and Lithuania.  The UN officials criticized the US for doing this.  Was she picking on the US all of a sudden?

Like the US, Bensouda's beef with Israel is expansive.  The ICC is ready to begin an investigation of ALLEGED war crimes by Israeli soldiers against Arab civilian citizens of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  Bensouda said on April 30th that she would go ahead with the investigation if the pre-trial judges of ICC tell her that she is on solid ground to start the inquiry.

"Legal affairs journalist Yonah Jeremy Bob writes that Israel's   IDF conducted at least 500 probes and more than 30 full inquiries into actions taken by Israeli soldiers during the 2014 Gaza conflict. In 2015, a commission of military figures from several democratic states that reviewed the military operations by Israel in the 2014 Gaza war established that "the IDF not only met its obligations under the Law of Armed Conflict but often exceeded these on the battlefield at significant tactical cost.""

According to the court's own rules, they are breaking the rules if they go ahead.  "According to the ICC's charter, the Court cannot investigate the conduct of non-signatory states of the 1998 Rome Statute that established the Court. Israel, like the U.S., is not a signatory of the statute."  They really have a warped sense of moral law if you ask me.
Hamas to shower Israel cities with missiles!

Hamas, started in 1987,  has been the major player in the terrorist war against Israel.  They have perpetuated 40% of suicide bombings and dominates Gaza.  They use rocket and mortar attacks and are closely tied to Syria, Iran and Lebanon.  Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States, Western Europe, Hezbollah and others fund them. Hamas is listed as a terrorist organization by the US State Department.  They have built a lot of tunnels with that money.  One use of them is to pop up and attack or kidnap.

The PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, started in 1967, have been major players in the 1970s and 1980s.  This and related groups are small and considered miner players today.  They have been in Judea and Samaria (West Bank), Gaza, Syria and Lebanon.  They follow Marxist/Leninist, revolutionary nationalism through armed insurrection and refuse to recognize Israel. They broke off from PLO in 1974, but have rejoined again.

Arafat and his friends, Hillary Clinton and her daughter

The PLO started in 1964 and is the representative of the Palestinian people.  They are the political party in the PA.  They are accused by the international community of extensive corruption and theft of international aid during its governance of the PA.  They were guilty of plane hijackings, hostage taking, bombings, assassinations, targeted Israeli civilians and Jews globally, and conducted operations against Lebanese, Jordanians and Americans.  They tried to overthrow King Hussein of Jordan and was crushed by Hussein's army in September of 1970.  Arafat was their well-known leader.

What Oslo Accords Failed to Do: Wrench in Progress for Kerry

Nadene Goldfoot

Twenty-five years ago in 1987, the First Intifada started.  It didn't stop until the Madrid Peace Conference.

Twenty years ago, on September 13, 1993 to be exact, Prime MinisterYitzchak Rabin and Simon Peres, Foreign Minister, along with Yasser Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas of the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) were at the White House in Washington DC.  They all  signed the "Declaration of Principles" which had all been discussed in Oslo, Norway. Russia and the USA were co-signers.   It stipulated mutual recognition between Israel and the PLO.  The PLO were to stop terrorism and end it's covenant calling for Israel's destruction.

Israel had ratified this accord in the Knesset one week later.  Arafat never could get the PLO to ratify it, announcing this on October 7, 1993.

On May 4, 1994 they had signed the Gaza-Jericho Agreement
On August 29, 1994 they had signed the Preparatory Transfer of Power and Responsibility
On August 27, 1995 they signed the Protocal transferring power to the PA.

"The five-year transitional period would commence with Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and Jericho area. (This they have done.)  Permanent status negotiations would begin as soon as possible between Israel and the Palestinians. The negotiations would cover remaining issues, including: Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees, Israeli settlements, security arrangements, borders, relations and cooperation with other neighbors, and other issues of common interest."

Starting in  the year 2001, Israel was being attacked by rockets, mortars and missiles.  800 rockets rained down on Israel by 2005.  Attacks forced Israel's retaliation with Operation Rainbow and Operation Days of Penitence in May 2004.  In August and September 2005, Israel had pulled out of Gaza.  Since the pullout, there have been more than 12,800 rockets that have attacked southern Israel from there.  Operation Summer Rains from June 28th  to November 26th took place in 2006 when IDF soldier Gilat Shalit was captured.  "Israel's stated goals in Operation Summer Rains were to suppress the firing of Qassam rockets from Gaza into the western Negev  Attacks into Southern Israel have not stopped. 4,000 rockets had rained down on Israel since 2005.  Israel answered the attacks with Operation Autumn Clouds in 2006 and Operation Hot winter in 2008 and Operation Cast Lead in 2009.   Even though there was a cease fire from Operation Defensive Shield in November 21, 2012,  23 rockets and 7 mortars have been shot into Southern Israel in 2013 with only January free of them.  30 Israelis were killed, 1,500 were injured and all the residents have been traumatized.

This makes the PLO (today's Fatah)  still on the books in Israeli law as a terrorist entity because of not ratifying the Oslo accord.  This is also true in American Law being the Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades of Fatah are listed as a terrorist organization.  Such groups are to forfeit US foreign aid assistance.

Two times the Palestinian National Council had never canceled the PLO Covenant.  So David Bedein, head of Israel Resource News Agency and director of Near East Policy Research,  brings up the issue of the fact that there is a reason to renew talks with the PLO or Fatah.   They need to ratify the Oslo Accord and to cancel the PLO covenant calling for Israel's destruction even before they decide to recognize Israel.

Already the Palestinians have let it out that a future Palestine is to have no Jews living in their territory.  They want East Jerusalem, or even have grandiose ideas of having all of Jerusalem.  The Palestinian officials want all Palestine refugees to return and be allowed in their territory.  This would be overcoming  and would drown Israel. There were few Palestinians in Palestine in 1948 and now there are millions.   They have produced textbooks with geography maps showing all of Israel as Palestine and teach hatred for Israelis and Jews.  Fatah and Hamas have no cooperation with each other let alone with Israel, and they have no proper resource for money other than donations from other Muslim countries and groups.  The occupation of so many have been in bomb making and that's about it.

One can see that these are very sensitive matters.    Kerry and Obama are pushing the oppositional Palestinians into discussions with Israel. Why is it so imperative that Fatah sit down to discuss peace with Israel when they haven't a united force for a Palestinian state?     How can Israel even consider being held to discussion with Hamas terrorists who wish to wipe them out?  Is this an act just to get something written on one's resume?

Mahmoud Abbas was first Prime Minister of Palestine and is now the president.  He has just ousted Salam Fayyad, Prime Minister and has replaced him with Rami Hamdallah, another Fatah member who is a USA educated economist.  They have discovered that they are just about bankrupt, owing far more money than a state should that hasn't even been officially  formed yet, even though google hadn't been aware of its standing as yet.

Peace is not ready to be served on the table.  There is much that the Palestinians have to do to become neighbors of Israel.  They're not showing their willingness to live in peace when they teach their children to hate Jews and Israelis as shown by their school textbooks and their cultural programs.  Peace will have to remain in the oven where it is simmering.

Palestinians Farthest Away From Peaceful Coexistence

Nadene Goldfoot

If someone is going to move into the house next door to you, you hope they will be nice neighbors; mow their lawn, pick up toys, say Hi to you.  The same goes with Israel's potential new neighbor, a Palestine.  I find they are the worst possible candidates right now.  Can't the real-estate people find more suitable candidates?

Jibril Rajoub, deputy secretary general of Fatah's Central Committee, head of the Palestinian Olympic committee and former director of the Preventive security Force in the "West Bank" (Judea and Samaria), said just recently on May 1st that for Fatah, resistance to Israel in all forms remains on our agenda.  They like it because it is effective and costly for Israel.  He means violence against Israel.  Popular resistance refers to protests that flare up since the 2nd intifada.

This man was in jail in Israel for 17 years for throwing a hand-grenade at an army bus.  He was part of Arafat's team and was the national security adviser.  He's also serving on a committee for a 2 state solution and starred in an advertising campaign advocating settlement to the conflict.  He calls out that he's Israel's partner.  Evidently he says on the ad that there is consensus in the Arab world to recognize the existence of Israel in return for an end to occupation.  Well, duh!  But he's two-faced.

Rajoub was interviewed again last week and let it be known that he calls on Arabs to take part in "the liberation of Jerusalem."  In other words, they intend to make Jerusalem part of Palestine.   He didn't even mention "East' Jerusalem.  It was "Jerusalem."   He's angry with other Arab states for not giving enough money to financially aid the PA.  He wants Arabs to help liberate Jerusalem with money and whatever else it takes, like mobilization.  He wants swords drawn in the face of the Zionist enemy and that would be great, he said.

Palestinian Media Watch quoted him saying that if they had nuclear weapons, "we'd use them" against Israel immediately. "   Then he bemoans and groans with "Believe me, our sick are dying in the hospitals...and the only countries with money to come through with Arab League decisions are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Algeria."   Sick or injured have been taken to Ashkelon's hospital in Israel.  They're well treated there. Usually it's because their leaders station their rocket launchers among the population.  Israel pulled out of Gaza for peace, but got a big surprise.  It's the launching pad for Palestinians to hit Israelis.  Do they ever plot and scheme to get even closer and take over!.  It's pretty obvious listening to Rajoub.

Palestinians haven't agreed on anything between themselves and aren't self sufficient. Fatah was called the moderate.  This is moderate?  Well, Hamas continues to rain down mortars, missiles and rockets on southern Israel and now Fatah will nuke us.  Their leaders have created a population not capable of doing anything but hate.   They depend on handouts.  They are still dreaming of killing off Israelis.  No indeed.  I wouldn't want them as neighbors.

Then we have google who jumped the gun and has them  listed as a full blown state which hasn't happened yet and may never at this rate of hypocrisy.

Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran.  Palestinians want it because of its historic value to Jews.  What we have created, they covet.  No wonder coveting was listed in the 10 Commandments as a no-no.

Israel's Partner, Chairman Abbas

by Nadene Goldfoot
Do I see any chance of peace with this partner? President Mahmoud Abbas became the head of Fatah because he was an underling of Yasser Arafat. He was formerly known as Abu Mazen. People think of him today as a moderate because he has broken away from Hamas, who is still fighting against Israel. Being Arafat's first deputy, he was an engineer of Palestinian hate eduction, still being used by terrorists.
He has a Ph.D from Moscow University. That's Russia, not Idaho His thesis was Holocaust Denial. He was trained by the KGB and managed the logistics of the Munich Massacre in 1972 of the 11 Israeli athletes. No wonder he praised the organizer of that slaughter yesterday when he passed away. (See yesterday's blog article).

As a clever man, he planned PLO ties with communists until 1989 against interests of all; Israel, America and even Arab interests. Up to 1993 he worked with Hamas.

In the 70's and 80's he tried to topple the Christian regime in Beirut resulting in the 1976 invasion of Lebanon by Syria and civil war. 200,000 died and hundreds of thousands became refugees from this. The PLO murdered 300 US Marines in 1983 on the US Embassy and Marine Headquarters in Beirut.
Jordan had a war with Palestinians who just about took over their state. King Hussein had to deal with their "Black September Movement when they tried to usurp his government. Nevertheless, he has married a Palestinian lady whose parents were immigrants to the states.

Yesterday Abbas stated to the other Arab states that if they fight Israel, he is in favor. He said that the Palestinians cannot fight Israel alone. He doesn't want the "West Bank"-which is Judea and Samaria-to be destroyed again. Was he trying to instigate them? Here Netanyahu is speaking with Obama and he's challenging other Arabs to attack Israel.

Funny, but all the Arab states tried this back in 1948 for starters and failed. Then the Palestininas, much fewer in number at that time, hoped for the same reward. They were told that the Arab armies would take over Israel and then they could take over their homes. Looks like to me that they're hoping for a repeat performance with a different ending. So what about having some peace, Abbas? How good is your word? Possibly this man is the only choice we get. I don't see him as having any feeling for Jews, in fact of all Arabs he would seem to have the least respect. To me it's so irrational to have such a thesis and believe in it with all the facts out in the open proving the opposite, and to have been done in Russia of all places. If he behaves sincerely about peace, I would think that he's just a very good actor. Time will prove his intentions, as his resume shows otherwise. Yesterday's actions were not headed in the right direction.

As Dr. Daniel Pipes said in his article, When will we stop deluding ourselves that Abbas and the PA seek anything less than the total elimination of the Jewish state? What disaster must occur before we open our eyes to reality?

Why Have The Oslo Accords Failed?

Nadene Goldfoot
Rabin and Arafat's Dealings
Agreement between Israel and a future Palestine came to fruition August 20, 1993. Rabin, Arafat and Clinton negotiated.

According to the agreement, Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and the Arabs had a right of self-government. The Palestinian government was to last for a five-year period. Major issues such as Jerusalem would be decided at a permanent status negotiation that was to come in 1996. They signed a mutual recognition paper. Rockets were fired into Israel intensely starting in 2000 by the terrorists.

The Knesset's left wing supported this agreement while the right wing opposed them, and after a two-day discussion they voted with 61 for the decision, 50 against and 8 abstained.

Palestinians were also divided. Fatah was the group in the negotiations and they accepted while Hamas was against it. They refused to recognize Israel's right to exist in what they called Palestine, which was including the land Israel was on. The fact is that there never was a country of Palestine at all, just an area that Rome had renamed to erase Jewish presence.

On Sept 12, 2005 Israel withdrew completely from the Gaza Strip. Abbas was given authority. In twelve days Hamas fired rockets at Israel. By 2007 896 rockets and 740 mortar shells were fired from Gaza onto Israel. Many Israelis were continuously killed and injured between 1993 and 2000 by terrorists.

One can see that Hamas took over Gaza, winning their elections in 2006, and chased Fatah out into the West Bank. No group speaks for all of "Palestine". For eight years Hamas shelled Israel with rockets leading to Israel's Operation Cast Lead operation. Abbas has been very weak in his leadership. When violence increased against Israelis, the Palestinian Authority did not stop these attacks and instead endorsed them. Operation Cast Lead started on Dec 27, 2008. 1,571 rockets and 1,531 mortar shells had been fired into Israel by Hamas.

Earlier they had turned their guns on Israelis in clashes which left 61 Palestinians and 15 Israeli soldiers dead. Arafat stated among Palestinians that he compared the accord to the Hudaibiya agreement that Muhammad signed with the sons of the tribe of Quraish as a way of justifying signing them. This meant that they were signed not in good faith but as an appeasement.

Israel, on the other hand, refrained from building new towns or villages although the agreement did not stipulate such a ban. It did expand towns already there as the Arabs had not accepted the accords. More people were allowed to move into the towns in Judea and Samaria so that the population grew by about 10,000 each year. Note that all this time the accords were not in effect as the Palestinians did not accept them. Israel was not going to sit around and wait and do nothing. Israel learned quickly not to trust the Palestinians as they were divided and not being compliant. Attacks on Israel had intensified right after the signing and continued.

What the Palestinians have not figured out is that their fears were realized due to their own hatred. Israel did not dismantle their towns in Judea and Samaria for their Palestine to be created and it did expand with more people and more building simply because the Arabs could not come into agreement to recognize Israel and not attack them.

Who are you going to blame? Israel was being compliant even though almost half of their country feared the move. Israel wanted peace. After all, they've been fighting hatred and attacks since their inception. They're living in a very violent and dangerous neighborhood.

As of February 10, 2009, just last year, rocket fire continued from Gaza. The Islamic Jihad admitted that a Palestinian was killed while approaching Gaza's border fence with Israel as he was on his way to attack Israelis. On the 1st of February twelve rockets and mortars were fired into Israel. Hamas said they didn't fire them but they didn't stop them, either. And so it continues.

Dumb and Dumber: Mitchell's Same Old Peace Plan

Palestine and Israel
by Nadene Goldfoot
The United States and Europe assume that the Palestinians want peace. Could they possibly be wrong?
The Palestinians were offered their own state in 1948 when Israel was created. They rejected the idea and immediately attacked Israel with five Arab states. Surely they were carrying out the dictive to kill Jews and certainly not to reside next to them. After 60 years of attacking Israel, things have not changed. Their charter has not changed. Their behavior has not changed, except to get worse. They have elected Hamas, under the pressure of the United States to hold elections. Hamas has nothing in its charter to have a state or to live peacefully next to Israel. That tells us a lot about what its people desire.

Fatah is assumed to behave better, only they seem to differ from Hamas only in that they are more secretive in their resistance to Israel. Fatah boasts that their terror cells in Gaza also fired upon Israel just as Hamas fired missiles against Israel. Fatah has terror cells called Aksa Martyrs. They claim that during Operation Cast Lead, their terrorists fired 137 rockets and mortar shells at Israel. This means that Israel was fired on by both groups. Abbas claims that his people did so because they are living under Hamas rule, but from 2000 to June 2007, when Hamas kicked Fatah out of Gaza, most of the weapons smugglings operations in Gaza were done by Fatah, who did the most firing at Israel. Most suicide bombers from Judea and Samaria were members of Fatah. It isn't the moderate group that they claim to be, unless they call this action moderate.

There are those that lay the blame on Israel constantly saying if only this or that was done, they would be nice people. They blame Israel for not being supportive of Arafat and now Abbas! They were the leaders trying to do Israel in and were always attacking, and we should have been more supportive? Perhaps Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice think that America should have been more supportive of Hitler, then. Shouldn't we now support people who want to kill us? What kind of convoluted thinking is this?

1. They continue: If only Israel had kicked out the Jews of Gaza earlier. Israel removed all the Jews in Gaza and handed the ruins of their villages and farms to Fatah in September 2005.
2. If only Israel had removed its roadblocks and expelled Jews from their homes in Judea and Samaria;
3. If only Israel had prevented all Jewish construction beyond the 1949 armistice lines; Since 2000 Israel has stopped Jewish building in Judea and Samaria.
4. Only Israel is asked or told to give, give, give up land to the Palestinians. The Palestinians are not told to do anything in regards to Israel, like be good neighbors. There are no expectations for them.

Then Arafat and now Abbas would have been more popular and would stop their terrorist forces.
These people receive a salary from the PA which is funded by the US and Israel. So Israel is forced to fund the very people who want to see their total destruction by the forces that be.

Mitchell has been selected again by the Democrats. Again, he'll go for a plan first created by Tom Friedman, then copied by Saudi Arabia, who was praised by Obama by being so brave, the PLO's peace plan. Mitchell told Arafat that the conditions were that he had to make 100% effort to prevent terror. That was funny because it was he who called the shots of terror. Clinton's administration used the old nod-nod-wink-wink attitude of Palestinian terrorism since 1994. They allowed things to happen. Mitchell said that Israel and the Palestinians were equally to blame for the terror of the Palestinians against Israel. I guess that's like blaming a girl for being raped. (If only she had dressed like a boy). Well, today she might not have been safe at that. This meant that Arafat wasn't responsible for anything in Clinton's eyes. He could say that their attacks didn't come from him, that he was doing his 100% good old try at resisting.

I must say that Hillary Clinton has been much more supportive of Israel, and also feels that they have a right to respond when attacked. That is 100% improvement from her husband's attitude. I hope she has some knowledge that she could share with Mitchell and help him to become more understanding or caring about Israel's future.

By the time Bush got in, he didn't go along with Mitchell's plan or Mitchell. After all, he was a Republican and had to get some different players on his team. The scene had shifted to finding Israeli children's body parts on the walls of bombed pizzerias and bar mitzva parties that had to be scraped off in order to bury them. Bush didn't cry "moral equivalence" at this point. Even he could see that Israel was enduring a lot of attacking and was unlike the Palestinians. However, his plan copied the Clinton Plan, formed the Tenet Plan, the Road Map Plan and then the Annapolis Plan, so there wasn't that much difference.

Like the others, Obama sets his table with Palestine's creation as the centerpiece. Everyone is bound and determined to create this 2nd state made up of murderous hearts ready to kill Israelis. How lucky we are! They feel that the only other solution is to absorb Palestinians into Israel, which is an even worse idea.
I say that some of the other 22 Arab states should absorb them, such as Saudi Arabia. They are so helpful and so in need of people. They have a large body of land and very little constituents.

Wouldn't they like these Palestinians living next to them?

Israel has been attacked over and over again by 5 nations at one time, and Israel has won despite the odds. Israel has gone along with having a Palestinian state only to be attacked. The Palestinian people have done nothing to show that they would be good neighbors. They have done just the opposite. It's like having an open mental institution next door with no one controlling the inmates who are killers.

Now the heads of state, Marshall as representative, expect Israel to give again as if we haven't already done so and it never gains us any peace. After doing the same thing over and over and over and over, one would think that this behavior is not getting us anywhere. Repeating an action that gets you nowhere is crazy. I'm not for giving land for peace anymore. How about doing what the USA has done. If you attack us, we take your land. For every bomb shot into Israel, we take 25 KM of land. At that rate, we might take back all of Gaza.

Many Arab states attacked Israel including all the Palestinians. They lost the attack. The land is legitimately part of Israel. Israel does not have to give up land but has done so in the name of peace. Peace has not come. Israel being attacked and not responding is now a thing of the past. Israelis have had enough!
Mitchell made the statement at Tel Aviv U. last month that "the US and Israel must cling to the delusion that Palestinian statehood will bring about a new utopia, for the alternative is unacceptable and should be unthinkable." This indeed is a delusion that should be dropped for sanity's purposes. We must not delude ourselves, but look at the picture sanely. Here is a people who do not want their own state and who probably could not manage it at all given the free reign to do so. They are killers and not lovers of anything, including their own children. They think dying is terrific.

Mitchell is making the same old pitch with nothing new. He's not as creative or fair as Obama makes out to be. When Obama steps up to the plate, G-d help him to be understanding and fair with Israel. Haven't we gone through enough with such dreamers?

Update: 1/30/09 Former Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces and now member of the Likud party, Moshe Yaalon said: "From the dawn of Zionism until this day, the source of all terrorist attacks has been the refusal of the Arab world to recognize Israel's existence. Until this changes, we will remain the target of violent terrorist activity. The '67 borders are not a solution to rocket attacks, suicide bombs or more conventional forms of warfare. The two-state solution has failed and to my mind is now irrelevant. Even before the [war with] Hamas, a two-state solution was a mistaken fantasy—now it's even more irrelevant."

Crossroads for Israel

by Nadene Goldfoot
Israel is facing a most dangerous position right now. It is at the crossroads of making a decision that will bring it peace in the Middle East
.
Israel has to make some decisions. Right now the left is in command with Olmert and USA's President Bush. They are backing the Palestinian's Fatah's leader who is now in the West Bank area, having left the Gaza to Hamas. They are hoping to advance their peace process. The question is if this highway to peace isn't giving the terrorists and other aggressive Arab states power. American presidents haven't really been of much help in advancing peace for Israel, though we are led to believe they have.

Arafat had visited with President Clinton many times and Clinton did nothing to stop jihad events even when the US embassy and US warships were bombed. Bush is not attempting to do anything to halt the threats of Iran and Syria when both these countries are threatening Israel's security. No matter what happens to Israel, Bush will be exhalted for trying to bring peace in the area, just like Clinton. In other words, what will happen to Israel is strictly up to Israel's decision right now, regardless of what the United States proposes
.
To the right sits Likud's Binyamin Netanyahu and the former IDF chief of General Staff Moshe Ya'alon who state that Israel can't live with a Hamas state on the border. Hamas is supported by Iran who want to crush Israel as much as the Hamas terrorists want to. Even hundreds of Palestinians are fleeing from Gaza and are pounding the door at the border of Israel trying to get in. They fear for their lives because they were Fatah supporters. They're trying to get to the West Bank where Fatah still has control.

So far Olmert and the left are in command. The question remains. How will Israel ever exist with such enemies on its border and the hope of a friendly state of Palestine squelched by the Hamas takeover. Bush just stated that he hopes Abbas will be successful in the West Bank. He was ineffectual in Gaza, however. What will happen if Hamas takes over all the Palestinians?
