Miss Mexico, Contestant of Miss Universe, Goes Through Challenges From Her State And From Thailand's Leadership

 Nadene Goldfoot

Miss Mexico came to the forefront of news today.  She's an entry of the Miss Universe contest.  The final competition for Miss Universe 2025 takes place on November 21, 2025, at the Impact Arena in Pak Kret, Thailand. The coronation event will be held on this date, with preliminary competitions and other events taking place earlier in the week, including the National Costume Competition on November 19.

Update:  Mexico has won the Miss Universe pageant three times, with winners being Lupita Jones in 1991, Ximena Navarrete in 2010, and Andrea Meza in 2020.

Fatima Bosch:   Miss Universe Mexico Fátima Bosch found herself in the middle of multiple unexpected controversies during the lead-up to the 2025 Miss Universe beauty pageant. She was born May 19, 2000 and is 25 years old.  She's a Mexican model.

Bosch became the first-ever queen from the Mexican state of Tabasco to win Miss Universe Mexico in September 2025, but her crowning moment went viral for all the wrong reasons. The Miss Universe Mexico live audience booed her win and several other competitors declined to congratulate her on stage because they felt another contestant should have taken the crown.  Fátima Bosch was born in Santiago de Teapa in the Mexican state of Tabasco. She studied fashion design at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico, as well as attending the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, Italy, and the Lyndon Institute in Vermont.  Bosch has discussed facing bullying in school for having dyslexia and Adult Hyperactivity Disorder. According to the Mayo Clinic, dyslexia is a “learning disorder that involves difficulty reading due to problems identifying speech sounds,” while ADHD is a mental health disorder that can lead to “difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior.”

Then, At the Miss Universe 2025 sash ceremony in November 2025, Bosch was at the center of drama once again during a very public spat with pageant official Nawat Itsaragrisil over her promotion of the event on social media. Bosch ultimately walked out of the ceremony when Itsaragrisil referred to her as “dumb” — though, this time, several other pageant queens joined her in leaving the hall in solidarity. Last year's queen left first with the rest following her.

Miss Israel 2025, contestant for Miss Universe, Melanie Shiraz is Miss Israel 2025, and she is running for Miss Universe 2025. She was crowned Miss Universe Israel in July 2025 and will represent Israel at the international competition in Thailand in November 2025. A 26-year-old who holds dual degrees from UC Berkeley and a master's from Tel Aviv University,  she has also founded a fintech company. Shiraz was born in Tel Aviv; her mother is Estee Shiraz. The family moved to America when Shiraz was young. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a double degree in Data Science and Interdisciplinary Studies. She was also involved in Chabad, the campus Jewish Student Union, and Hillel. After working in Silicon Valley, she earned an MBA at Tel Aviv University. She co-founded a fintech startup in London but returned to Israel after the October 7 attacks. She currently lives in Tel Aviv.
Miss Universe 2025 stage is set with 60 confirmed contestants from across the globe, each bringing their own unique charm, beauty, and advocacies to the competition. This dazzling lineup includes stunning representatives from every corner of the world.

Miss Universe 2025 continues to redefine what it means to be a beauty queen. Gone are the days when only single women under 28 could compete. The pageant now embraces women of all ages, backgrounds, and life stories, including mothers, wives, and professionals. This year, the lineup reflects that spirit of inclusivity and change.

In 2025, Miss Universe Latina, Mayotte, Niger, and Palestine will join the competition for the first time. After years away, Iraq, Slovenia, Sweden, Ghana, Haiti, Kosovo, and Panama are back on the Miss Universe stage. Sadly, Iran withdrew.

Miss Mexico was embarrassed by the announcer saying she was dumb.  Will there be anything more to explode like Miss Israel being among the others?
